Ok, I love all of it! But I’m new to this hobby and I’m needing anyone out there to tell me.. how do you even come close to having all these stamps, edges, die cuts etc. I started and with any one project I can’t get very far without spending a ridiculous amount and ending with not very much- help! Is this normal? What am I doing wrong?!
Hi there! I've been crafting for about 9 years , so I've accumulated tons of supplies. Yes, it can be a very expensive hobby. With that being said, I never pay full price for anything! My advice is to start off with basic tools, such as good scissors, paper trimmer, score board, adhesives etc. I try to find products with multiple used and I always use coupons or take advantage of sales when I ship. Michael's, Joann's and hobby lobby always have great sales. Dollar stores are great too! If you have any of these near you , take advantage of that. Also check out Tuesday Morning!!!! Those if us lucky enough to have one near us finds tons of inexpensive supplies there. The biggest thing you have to remember is that you don't need to have everything tool or paper collection that comes out. In the beginning I bought tons of stuff just because I thought I needed it all. Find your "style" and don't buy things just because others have it. Find things you love and can see yourself using for more than one project.
For instance, when I purchase a paperpad or pack , I look for pages that have images I can fussy cut ( cut around image/ design) and use as ephemera or "die cuts". Like the witch silhouettes in my projects.
Investing in dies can be expensive so check out AliExpress for great deals. I buy basic shapes and designs I know I'll use multiple times.
There really is so much to talk about and I'll be glad to help. There are videos on RUclips you can check out on beginner basic tools you definitely need. I would start there and if you have a specific question I'm more than willing to help and you can email me if you like, lizrussell23@yahoo.com
You don't have to have everything out there to be crafty. Most importantly is to have fun and be creative! Hope this helps a little.
