    As an American, I can verify that this movie is 100% accurate.

    Apparently when the Matt Damon puppet came in from the manufacturers, they felt like it looked like someone who is developmentally challenged. Therefore, they decided that his character would only be smart enough to say his own name.

    • @tonyb7615
      @tonyb7615 9 месяцев назад +2

      They made fun of him long before this movie was made. And always in the same way. He just says his name and that's it, they were calling him a bad actor because they thought it was obvious to them and hollywood loved him, so no one else was allowed to make fun of him.

      @@tonyb7615 well, per Matt, that was the explanation.

      @greenpeasuit maybe this was the beginning of the joke then. I could see them just saying that so the people that watched and were fans would be in on the joke tho. They do crap like that all the time.

    "As actors, it is our responsibility to read the newspapers and then say what we read on television like it's our own opinion."
    Fun Fact: The Michael Moore puppet was stuffed with ham before it was blown up.
    Lost In Translation Fact: When the Film Actors Guild decides to go to North Korea, the members all shout "Qapla!" which is Klingon for success.
    Matt Damon Fact: Originally, Matt Damon was going to be portrayed as intelligent and articulate, but when they saw the puppet, they noted that it made him "look retarded" and decided to portray him as such. Unfortunately, I personally can no longer take Matt Damon seriously anymore. Whenever I see him, all I hear is "Matt Damon!" ringing in my ears.
    MPAA Hacks Fact: Due to a puppet sex-scene, the movie was given a NC-17 Rating by the MPAA. The scene was edited nine times before they received the R rating they were shooting for. Trey Parker later admitted that the scene was originally added to distract the MPAA from the rest of the film's subject matter. On Matt Stone's urging, the scene was reinstated on the "unrated" DVD.
    Blink And You'll Miss It Fact: The statue in Jong-Il Kim's palace is actually a human in heavy makeup. In the first scene in which he appears, you can see his eyes blinking. In the overhead shot of Gary lying in the giant puddle of vomit, it is actually Trey Parker wearing a pair of fake legs so his proportions more closely match those of the marionettes. The "vomit" was a mixture of soup and beer. As a subtle detail in the opening scene in Paris, the streets are paved with croissants.

    The reason why Matt Damom is portrayed that way is during production, according to Trey and Matt, the mold of him did not turn out right that made him look like a "special needs" person. Because they had a schedule and budget to keep, they decided to use his puppet and change the dialog.

    The non-American cities are designed to look how ignorant Americans would picture them in their heads. So even though Cairo and Paris are massive modern metropolis', Cairo is depicted as a medieval city made of sandstone bricks and people riding camels, and Paris is depicted like it's still the mid 20th century. Likewise for the other non-American cities depicted in the movie.
    Edit: Oh, and the best movie about Pearl Harbor is "Tora Tora Tora!"

    At the time this film was super relevant. Kim Jong Il was far worse than his son, who is just going along with the script now. It wasn't all that long after 9/11 and this film called out a lot of stupidity and hypocracy. There are people in our own countries who are as bad as the enemy and a lot of people are living in a false reality. For instance, right now there are a lot of kids in the US advocating for communism and all sorts of other meaningless causes heading into another Cold War that might become hot when China tries to take back Taiwan sometime in the next 10 years. I think Russia is just gearing up to grab back more of the former USSR while we are all distracted when it hits the fan when China makes its move. The Russian and Chinese hackers will cause major distractions and mayhem by targeting Western utilities so that our governments will be more focussed on restoring water and power before people go crazy and civil unrest takes hold. But here we are again in 2024 with the next generation of idots who weren't around to remember 9/11, they haven't been taught history at school, and they've more focussed on what pronouns you use to describe them. I lived with a bunch of fairly liberal Americans at university and they all accused me of being racist when I said it was Osama Bin Laden who organised the attack when we were watching the tv and the planes hit the towers. They were happy living in their ideological bubble up until that point. Still, NONE of them apologised to me the next day.

    They made fun of Matt damon for a long time, because his acting range is so low. And his "wokeness" was always there. So they were calling him mentally challenged and a one note actor since the 1st time he was brought up in south park. This was just continuing the joke. After this movie he kept trying to get roles that made him not look stupid, like the martian. But his acting was always one dimensional. The soith park creatora were the firat to call him out for being crap becauae everyone in hollywood always loved him. Like the many others, he always had the right narrative and politics, so he was considered protected. And so that's exactly what southpark loves to make fun of.

      That's not true at all. One of the creators said in an interview that when they were making the puppets they thought that the Matt Damon puppet looked retarded so they thought it would be funny if they made him retarded. That's it. It's not any more deep than that.
