One thing I have noticed with my hair is that a silk pillow helps a lot!!! Like if you buy a good silk pillowcase (like the slip brand) and then switch back to cotton you will notice a huge difference. Natural not dyed hair looks extremely healthy. For shampoo I have tried olaplex, pureology's and l'anza and I still go back to re:line biotin thickening shampoo and conditioner they are much better than the others mentioned and much cheaper

For people with long but shortER than her hair, it's also an option to put the ponytail on the top of the crown of your head (like 2000's messy bun height) and cut layers in there so that the shortest layers are a little bit less drastic in length difference.

I've done this for a few years. Also can do only top of hair as second part to make face layers. Also you should use comb straight across after first cut then ✂ cut up into end hair in little snips to blend before take out pony tails.

When you cut your hair that way it takes no length off the back, only creates layers. That's why it's not any shorter. I do this just for layers. I hope that helps.
I finally snapped and did this. I cut it quite a bit shorter because my hair was way too damn long lmao. it turned out a little choppy on one side, and I'm gonna wait for it to grow out a bit more to fix it bc i don't trust myself with the shears for too long, but not bad at all!!! i'm really feeling this look, and it feels SOOO much better not to have what felt like a giant scarf hanging off my head. And I'll also be donating my hair.

yeah when i cut my hair a few months ago i literally braided it down, measured it against my striped tank-top, and what at it with scissors. the barest of the bare minimum. but you did a nice job on yours. props!

The tutorial I saw, was probably not the same you viewed, because, after the first chop, I cut INTO the chop which gave more layers than yours. My length is still long but has beautiful layers.Then I worked on the bangs part and just layered that in so it's more similar to a long Shag blended in with the Wolf Cut!! If you want more off the length...position the ponytail further back a lil on your head...it's all in the positioning of the ponytail to get a certain effect...looks good! I just did mine Sunday night n loving it!

You sort of just popped up, my hair never get longer than to about the bottom of my shoulder blades, but i take off usually 3 inches around that point as being colored and heat damaged by that length it's time to trim the dead. Anyway, i wanted to say you are absolutely gorgeous!!!!

It works if you do it correctly like you did. I've seen other videos of people doing it sloppy and not brushed out or centered. It did not come out right and looked like a ledge in the front. Hair was cut like this clear back in the 70's in salons without the hair ties. It does work. Your hair looks gorgeous ❤

You can get the same effect if you own a CreaClip. Brush your hair forward but extend the hair on the CreaClip to be even and then point cut to the desired length. You get awesome layers.

Disagree. I can already tell you Brad Mondo would not like it. He has a DIY shag haircut tutorial and he says you need to make the ponytail directly on top of your head not in the front. You get a less severe tapered look. Notice how her hair came to a very narrow point.
To even the longer ends, pony tail right and after that, pony tail left, cut off hair on each pony tail! I been cutting my hair for years, get different results with different strategies!
At the end of last summer I couldn’t stand how long my hair was. I don’t think it was from the original video but this was the type of cut I doubt. Needless to say I had to cut my hai 2 more times before o was able to get my hair pro cut. It was def a life saver.

My hair has been growing CRAZY long.. and its pretty heavy bc of how thick it is. So im going to try this out!
