To people saying the dog is shaking because it’s scared.. that dog is shaking because it wants it’s ball, being still for a spaniel is like withholding crack from an addict lol
or it's just scared? I've had my dog since he was a puppy, he's never had any traumatic events happen whilst trimming or bathing him but he still shakes and runs away whenever possible.. some dogs just don't like it haha
With the lockdown, we are forced to "do it ourselves" praying it all goes well. Your video has helped a lot, comared to some we watched, clearand easy to follow, fingers crossed.
Good video. I loved your gentle touch with her. She seemed a little anxious and your hand was very gentle. The clip was more cocker, but to me made sense for a pet that owners do not have to go through a brushing with. Which we all know owners rarely if ever brush their dogs. So you Springer clip made very good sense and the dog looked wonderful.
Hi, Can I ask a beginners question? I’d like to start grooming my Springer to cut down on the groomer costs. Ideally, I’d trim my dog to keep him tidy, then take him to the groomer a couple times a year, rather than every 2-3 months as I do now. My question involves clippers. I see some online that are pretty cheap - less than $50. Then, they take a big jump to close to 200 bucks. For my needs, can I get away with using the less-expensive cordless clippers? Thanks.
Dan Brennan problem with the less expensive clippers is that they overheat quickly so you would need to wait for it to cool down before continuing grooming
W. R. Bush I like it. Very helpful. I am caring for three English Field Cocker SpanieIs. I muted the sound thus music not a problem. Made notes of what you posted on the screen.
Imho she did a great job with this spaniel. Mine hates to be cut and it appears this dog has had numerous cuts with no significant issues. Love how quick she is going.
There's music on the clip, how do you know she isn't speaking to the dog and the dog is perfectly fine. If you make a huge fuss you will just make them more anxious.
She's pulling the dogs joints in all the wrong directions. That's why the dog keeps pulling away, it's uncomfortable. She should also never put the scissors between the dogs toes go cut!!!!!!! Pull the hair up!
I’m having my working cocker spaniel clipped and I’m wanting her to be done like this so Clipped body Keep tail or should I not keep it ? Legs but I don’t know about the feathers And I’m keeping her face and ears just having a trim with them If you have any tips that would be great !
Equestrian Girl My Springer had a brown tail with a tiny dip of white on the tip, we always had the groomer leave it, it was just too adorable to snip off ☺️ Same with the ears. He was short all over, fluffy ears, white-tipped tail. I miss him so much 😢 14 years as my baby and we finally had to end his suffering.
In a show cut the tail is trimmed with a 7 like the body. But thays a show cut. For a pet or non show animal it is owner request. Do whichever you like. Head and the top 1/3 of the ear it shaved with a 10 in a show cut. But again, non show dogs it is owner request. Start longer, like a 7 to match the body and go shorter if youd like
She was very gentle. She let the dog move, sit and stand freely unless she needed a specific area. The dog was clearly comfortable with her since it kept licking her. It did not show teeth, try to nip or even pull away as she trimmed feet. What about this wasnt affectionate, trusting or gentle?
I just spent 4 hours struggling with my Springer Spaniel. Most of the struggle was because of the clipper guards that rendered the clipper totally ineffective. I should have watched this first.
Please don’t speak for an entire continent. Unless the dog is for show or traditionally worked then it is entirely the owners aesthetic preference. Lots of Springers are clipped in Europe. Most important thing is to make sure they are carded afterwards to remove dead undercoat.
@@captainbirdsi3502 Its same shit to work with Furminator or Coat King. Its not the right work by a Spaniel. Of course are the Coats different, but most its a wrong work. By this Video, by this dog is somebody lazy or have not education and Show it to others......
@@Sabineemsland I can see from your channel you are a show dog owner. Not all owners are interested in grooming for shows. Some owners want to groom short and tight so that their dogs can run free, get covered in sticky mud and are easy to clean and prevent painful matting. I admit this is no good for show dogs but the video is not called “Grooming a Springer for dog shows”. Let’s all live and let live.
@@captainbirdsi3502 No. I am Groomer and I showed dogs as breeder. We dont, wait I must search for Translation, separate show or Pet dogs by the Grooming like in US. I do agree that hand stripping and carding is the only accepted method for show Spaniels anywhere in the world.
She let the dog sit, lay and stand freely. The dog was not showing teeth, nipping or even pulling away from her. The dog licked her face. She only corrected the sogs stance when she needed to get to a new area of the dog. As a groomer in training, she handled the dog beautifully. But no, we cant spend a lot of time loving on the dog because we have to do 4 to 6 dogs a day to make a living. And at 1 1/2 to 2 hours a dog, could you do an 8 to 10 hour day, covered in hair, and then getting ridiculed for "not petting my dog enough"?
@@tchwiss You have no idea, do you? She was kind to the dog and patient with it, which is already more than a lot of people who work with animals. Grooming isn't about spoiling the dog with cuddles, but you clearly have no idea. So come back once you've run a grooming business for a few years, then tell people they "lack intelligence and empathy" for not fussing over a dog that probably just wants the procedure over and done with

It’s been a while but how did it go! We need to do our springer
I need this lady to take care of my dog. Who and where is she located. She’s amazingly talented.
Would like to know what number of blade you used? Do you ever reverse trim a Spaniel?

Good video, shame about the music , did my head in.
Damn that’s a shame, you should invest in a device with volume controls! It really helps
Dreadful music - I do agree. Quiet commentary would have been far more useful!
I've just gone back to college doing dog grooming classes and this is really helpful, thank you!
This is really competent cut. I can't get my doggie looking nearly as smart.
I love the way it licks her face saying..'I'm being nice to YOU. be nice to me..' LOL

No they don’t, all that dog is thinking is “where the fuck is my ball”
Great video, including the music!! So it’s all down trimming like brushing them out? How do you choose a guard for your trimmers?
Nice job! The dog looks like a Sprocker - a Springer/Cocker cross. 👍🏻
Looks like an American field ESS
Always did ours,no worries, although she didnt like it when she was younger. The young one we have now hates it,so is a work in progress.😄

What clippers are they
To my knowledge its a 7mm clipper
Das trimmen entspricht nicht dem Rassestandart. Das Deckhaar des Springers wird niemals geschoren. Damit ruiniert man das Fell.
Das ist wohl Standart in USA. in Deutschland undenkbar.
Great video but OMG that music.
Let me preface with saying I know nothing abt grooming but I would hope my groomer is more affectionate to my puppies. Mayb I’m wrong.

Brava..il cane meraviglioso
If you don’t pull the skin tight you will leave lines , doesn’t look like clippers are bouncing off when they hit the bones
Wish the groomer would interact with this beautiful fur baby while grooming, she seems cold towards the dog.
Good video but it kept going out of focus and speeding up but like I say good helpful vid
shame about picture quality
Need to do another springer spaniel video as the camera focus is constantly changing. Not the best video to watch sorry.
Totaly different in Europe. All Spaniels are never to shaved. We handstrip the Soaniel Bodies. That are Handstrip Breeds.

Zero interaction with the dog. The poor thing looked frightened. Wouldn’t be taking my dog there.

Um. Phrasing.
Nice video horrible music. I want to hear the shaver not rave music
All she is doing is ruining his coat just shaving him down this is a groomer by todays groomer they have no idea.
Couldn't watch because of the awful 'music'.
Well bad film you never Shave Srpinger Spaniel....
Seriously! Most dogs that hunt get a spring trim just like this. Done it for 25 years
You most certainly do trim springers
Field bred Springers get clippers usually, bench bred like yours (and mine) get scissored or stripped.
