- Hey Guys! I put together this little vid of me finishing off a drawing with a technique I often like to employ. Splatter and textures are a nice way to add some interest to negative space on a drawing and really easy to do. Here I walk you through my process as I complete the pencil and ink artwork of a commission based on the character 'Darkness' from the classic movie 'Legend'. Hope you enjoy!

That's very kind thank you :) I only have a couple videos art related, but like yourself I plan on making more. I'm more of the digital type, I really want to start working with pencils and paint more now though. This kind of thing is really helpful to me :)

Love how you show parts of your work process. I think it's awesome you share some of your "secrets" :). it might be basic to you , but it's magic to me! I would love to get into painting and finish some my sketches, so these tips come in handy.
Maybe you could let us know what kind of brushes and brush sizes or techniques you reccommend for the more detailed work? Thanks!

Once again Chris "mind blowing!" I love that character. I remember watching Legend when I was I kid and just in awe of how amazing the 'Darkness' looked. Especially, those large black horns and the blood red skin tones. Awesome drawing and technique Chris. Thanks!

So amazing. I love realism myself and the way pencil and ink can give way to that but man the idea of using a toothbrush makes me want to dabble with additional depth. So many great tips. It looks like you apply a lot of layers of things to your artworks.. What paper do you use? It must be some hardy stuff!

Would you..recomend I swing the tooth brush for a red blood splatter effect?
I think that could definitely be effective. Maybe a brush would be better to get a long blood splat effect, then a toothbrush to add the spray effect!
What kind of pen are you using, is it regular ink or acrylic paint?
Awesome man! What kind of paper do you use for your artwork? I always find that the paper always 'crinkles' when using ink, paint etc Yours always look flat! aha
As for feed back for future videos, perhaps speak a bit more about why you chose that particular composition for the subject? Or maybe mention some tips about how to create effective characters, if that makes sense?
But please don't take that as me bashing your videos, I think they're great and would love to see more! I'm an illustrator myself and I'm planning to upload some 'speed painting' videos of my digital work sometime soon! So I'll be looking to you for some inspiration, man! :)
Sam Mayle Hey Sam! My paper varies all the time. just grab what feels nice from craft shops etc. I'm going to be a bit more constant in what I use soon though and I'll do a vid about it :)
Great video ideas! I guess things like that are so subconscious with me I never really think about it. It would be nice for me to do a vid on such things as it will probably help me realise and analyse the ways in which I approach things!

have you ever thought of dabbling in the world of digital art, i think you would do well seeing the amout of time and percision you put in a piece id love to see what you would come up with considering most of your art is so detailed that it looks like it was done digitally
Heartless Arts Hello there! I actually do a lot of digital art. Usually only to enhance traditional work. I do all kinds of things from T-shirt art to album covers where I have to finish and prep a lot of things digitally. Tbh It is something I am trying to edge away from now as I much prefer to work traditionally :)

Good stuff, tried it with a course brush, but the droplet size was a bit to large... toothbrush looks like a better size
