  • See what your proposal looks like to a client and what you need to get noticed. I post a real job on Upwork to show you behind-the-scenes what it looks like when a client is scanning through profiles and proposals and deciding who to interview.

Hey Chad - I'm curious what factors lead to being shown within the first ten proposals. Obviously boosting #1-4, but what about #5-10? Does UpWork take into account who submitted their proposal the quickest? The job posts I apply for frequently have 50+ candidates within 1 hour.

Upwork does not take into account who submits proposals the quickest. You don't need to be one of the ones submitting in the first hour but you do want to try to submit with 24-48 hours of it being posted. The client gets to choose whether to view proposals by best match or most recent.

I notice some freelancers in the 'review Proposals' section hide their JSS ratio. How is it possible?

I'm not sure, I don't see a way to do that and I wouldn't recommend it, because if the JSS is hidden the client will assume it's super low, probably lower than yours actually is. What's your JSS?
