    To add the boarder do we add 4 additional stiches to the total cast on (2 on each side?) Then knit these two then start the patern then knit the last two on every row?

    My hands are not appreciating DPNs, magic loop, or small circulars, to do beanies. I am playing with doing some fancy, top-down crochet to start the hats, then picking up the stitches and doing knit the rest of the way. I'd love to incorporate the knit waffle stitch. I didn't see a waffle stitch in the round, and wonder how different it would be from back and forth rows? I have crocheted since my 20s, now 70 years young, but have only knitted since May 2023. Any hints? Thank you for your very clear videos, especially keeping the stitch info on the side of each video! ❤

    if we are planning on doing the border around it, should we account for the border in the cast on, or does the pattern allow for the border?

    • @anayaj402
      @anayaj402 4 года назад +1

      The pattern doesn’t account for the border. According to what she said, I added 2 on the side so casting on is x3 +1 +4 (for each row pattern i added 2 knits at the start and end). Before starting i did 2 garter rows and 2 ending the piece too. Hope this clears it up for anyone who wants a border :)

    I’m curious what everyone prefers. The metal needles or wooden ones??
    I’m a new knitter and I have only used metal ones but I see you use the wooden ones a lot

    • @nickia7578
      @nickia7578 6 лет назад +1

      Hi I'm also a new knitter and I'm sure you have found an answer already but I have used both wooden and metal needles and I think it's just a matter of preference. I am a tighter knitter and the wooden needles were just too grippy for my taste and I found that the metal needles have a lot more slip to them and are easier to slide the yarn up and down the needle.

    • @jessicadudson4734

      I love tight knits so I find that just whatever needles could work best with the yarn at hand.

    I have a question for you in regards to this. When it comes to the last 4 rows when you are finishing off a project do you knit on the 2 knit stitches for a border or do you start right off with the stitches after the Asterik?? I'm doing dishcloths in the waffle stitch pattern with the borders. I have been finishing off the dishcloths I have been doing lately with out the border on the last 4 rows and things aren't quite working out. Thanks for your advice.

      @CherryBun0325 5 лет назад

      Nikki Buford I casted on 24 stitches +1, so 25 in total for a tiny blanket I’m making for my 20cm doll 💕
      Row one would be: K P P K P P K P P K P P K P P K P P K P P K P P K
      Row two would be: P K K P K K P K K P K K P K K P K K P K K P K K P
      Row three would be: Knit all stitches
      Row four would be: Knit all stitches
      Then repeat what you did on row one for the fifth row
      This pattern is a four-row repeat~ ^ ^
