I'm literally 5 minutes in and I'm already having fun. your explanations are very simple to understand and I'm already feeling comfortable with using both hands! thank you very much for making this a series!
I'm in my 3rd year of Jazz Piano and was surprised when I found that I feel a little bit uncomfortable in my left hand when doing these exercises. After a while I realised that it was not the lack of coordination between my hands but a certain stiffness in my left hand. This video helped me a lot, thank you!
I am 68 and although I have been a singer/percussionist since 5th grade, I never really learned to read music-I memorized it. I tried to learn guitar but had issues with learning more than 4 chords due to short fingers! I never had the patience to learn another instrument until about 12 years ago when I took up the Native American Flute for which you do not need to read music. I've always wanted to learn piano but could not get passed all those "exercises" and "kids" songs. I've been taking these online lessons for almost 3 weeks now and actually feel like I'm on my way to playing piano! Thanks!!!
these exercises like others you teach, are not boring because I see and I realize that they help to sync up brain hemispheres . Something that may seem simple and easy, it really is not, how interesting it is to learn to play the piano. Thank you CPA, blessing !!!
You're very welcome. I find it hard to gauge the difficulty level. Your message is reassuring :) I will put some more 'complete beginner' lessons together with my twist on them to make them as fun and practical as possible. Anyway, please keep playing and practicing!
There are several suggestions for how to learn piano Try practicing about 1 hour a day, or even 30 minutes if you have a busy schedule. Do extra practice whenever you have more time. For example, on weekends you could do more than 1 hour, perhaps two or 3, or even more. (I discovered about these and more from Denelle Piano Lesson site )
hey ,if anyone else wants to discover how to play piano learn how to play piano better try Jadonite Piano Player Buddy ( search on google ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my buddy got cool success with it.
My goodness why did nobody tell me about this channel. For years I have been trying to teach myself the piano... and I learn more in 2 minutes of a video than in 5 years 🤯
Thanks for these videos, I'm finding them really helpful. I've played piano by ear for years but always wanted to be able to do it properly. I mostly struggle with what my left hand should be doing while playing a melody with my right hand so this is really helping with that, thank you so much.
I also play guitar, finger-picking technique. I do not remember having particular difficulties coordinating left hand and right hand. In fact I have to focus more on the correct position of the left fingers on the strings and near the frets to get the best sound and a right chord shape. Everything happens as if focusing on these 2 points, my brain naturally adapted to the left hand-right hand interaction. I have not found yet how to explain this phenomenon and why it is so difficult at piano. The small window at the top right is very useful to become familiar with reading G and F clefs. Good idea. Thank you.
You're welcome. I also play guitar. I think it might have something to do with the fact that on the guitar we have very defined roles. One hand picks, the other frets and we can kinda learn each separately. On the piano, both hands are essentially doing the same complicated thing and then learn how to do merge them. I don't know, just spitballing. It does get easier though, its just a higher bar on the piano.
Josef, thank you so much! actually you are changing my life. today i have bought very good headphounes to practice and don`t desturb my neighbors. From Moscow with love. Elena
Just wanted to thank you for your easy to understand lessons that actually work . My only regret I didn't find you in March 2020 I'm sure by now I'd be reasonably able to produce a tune or two. Thank you.
PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT. Not boring, it's fun and needs "counting". So glad you don't go into boring Solfege or Scales. I gues, in my opinion the faster its played the more rhythmic it becomes. Must get out my Metronome and keep up to the beat. SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE. I've got to revise and refresh my old brain. Thanks for sharing and caring. WATCH, LISTEN and PLAY. Hugs from France. 👍👍👍🍾🍾🍾🥰
Thank you so much from Bangalore, India, I shud b grateful for uploading such a nice tutorial video. The way you guide here makes us so confident and Very easy to pick up and even the practice exercises are also fun to practice. Hope to receive more videos from you. 👌👍🙏🙏🙏
Really enjoyed this exercise and found it pretty challenging; the level of 'unco' between my hands and brain was remarkable, but it had improved massively after I spent 30 mins on this. Great video Josef.
What do you find most difficult when just starting to put that left hand together with the right? Let me know... ✅ Start piano today with my 12 day guided crash course creativepianoacademy.com/crash-course
Cool. Well keep going over this video, and check out part 2 if you want a bit more of a challenge. I also have a premium video at creativepianoacademy.com called 'the best adult practice plan' The first practice routine is aimed at hand coordination. Good luck!
My biggest challenge is playing the left or right hand on the "and" count. It throws me off. So maybe more videos on timing of notes? Love your energy and funny intros!!!
Each his own way to learn. Personally I need to combine several ways, namely adding a visual look on paper (or a sticky note on desktop) + a vocal way by singing any syllable. For the 3rd exercice i use "/" for symbolizing what to play with both hands and "*" for symbolizing what to play with RH. That gives: so counting 1 (both hands ) 2 (RH) 3 (both) 4 (both): / * // / * // / * // etc... Sequencially : / * // / * // / * // / * // ... i.e. a very simple rythm : /*///*///*///*///*///*.... If I sing TI (both hands) and TA (right hand) that gives: TI TA TITITI TA TITITI TA TITITI TA TITITI TA...... I hope i'm right... :-)
Thank you very much for this video. I have just found your channel. This has been very helpful. I really like the way you show what you’re teaching. Have a great day. 🌺
OOOOOOOOOOEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Yes, it's challenging. You talk a little fast on the last part of this one. Adding B was hard at first, but I got it. NO, they are NOT boring, just getting harder. :) The only hard part about putting both hands together is if you are right handed, the left hand needs more practice and vice versa -- that's how I see it. :) Thank you, Joe. You are amazing.
Very useful tutorial. Not too much trouble doing the first three exercises but when it came to swapping the the exercises from left hand to right hand...... not so easy. Still, plod on :)
Yep. Swapping things over is hard but its very good for you as it forces you to switch quickly. I like experimenting this way by starting one way then half way through... switch hands. It only works for certain exercises but it can be a good mind melter and of course, fantastic for hand coordination.
I'm literally 5 minutes in and I'm already having fun. your explanations are very simple to understand and I'm already feeling comfortable with using both hands! thank you very much for making this a series!

If I sing TI (both hands) and TA (right hand) that gives:
TI TA TITITI TA TITITI TA TITITI TA TITITI TA......
I hope i'm right... :-)
Looks about right. and hey, what works for you works for you.
