So I did it! I made my own Battenberg, thanks to you, Cheryl! OK, it doesn't look as good as yours - mine is a bit wonky! - but it will get eaten with much relish!! Thank you! Now on to those Empire Biscuits - just right for our Coronation High Tea on Saturday!
Oh, my, goodness. Yumm! Have to say though, we smile at chips with pasta, delicious as it is!

Wow! I do like food. All kinds and origins. We do not have a Scottish pub by us in USA. My husband is a huge fan of Guinness. A local micro brewery here makes Scottish Ale. My favorite. Enjoy your week.

Oh, you had gorgeous weather for your island time. Wonderful. We had some ferry trouble in Washington state, just recently. Thankfully, no injuries, only inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your trip as well as your meals, Cheryl.
Just found you love your meal choices, they give me inspiration, have been watching mostly American channels and find their pallets are so different than ours which were influenced by a British tradition although we do experiment with somethings as long as they don't have garlic or hot spices, I make a mild butter chicken my husband enjoys. Both my husband and daughter are allergic to garlic, even the smell of it cooking makes them feel sick.
Looks fabulous, Cheryl. Arran's scenery looks breathtaking.
How ever do you both stay so fit and trim with such amazing food options?

Those Wed/Thur breakfasts looked delish! I can't get over folk saying 'you don't get much'! Blimey, that would set us up for the day! By the way, I was at our local grocer last week and asked if they had any 'tattie pies' (as in individual cottage or shepherd pies) and they had no idea what I wanted. But when I explained it to them, they said they will call them tattie pies forever now! (PS, they were out of them anyway, so I made my own!)

Hope that you & your Hubby had a lovely break away in Arran, & you enjoyed your break away from cooking 🧑🍳 & dish washing duties for a couple of days, with you being waited on for a wee change. Looks like you timed it well with the weather, so you hopefully managed to get out & about plenty whilst keeping dry.

Very envious, haven’t had smoked haddock in years. Not that easy to get the smoked haddock in the USA. I still make mince and tatties for myself. Thanks for the lovely video.👍🏴

Hello Cheryl. That traditional fry-up breakfast for Friday looks absolutely delicious. I'm definitely going to try it this coming Friday, - based on your recommendation. Thanks for sharing the recipe. 😉😉
I hear people say that mince n tatties isn't a good dinner, I tell you what, I don't know who's cooked them it but I miss my gran's mince n tatties. Always had to have carrot and onion in the mince and with the tatties it was just butter, salt and a sprinkle of white pepper instead of black pepper.... Mmmm loved it ❤
It's totally beautiful and delicious from this gal in Canada❤🇨🇦..the breakfast is my favorite!! That looks so hearty. Nothing wrong with Scottish breakfast just gorgeous!! All your food is scrumptious. I'm not a fan of wraps only thing I'm not eating. But that fish and mac and cheese it's a total winner😘🤤🤤🤤

EDIT: Scotland is such a beautiful place! As a kid in the late 60's and early 70's, we had many family holidays in Scotland in our Alpine Sprite Caravan!

Ah brilliant! Hope you enjoy...there are so many places to stay on Arran and really depends on which village you choose! Wherever you end up booking you won't be disappointed. I wouldn't like to recommend anywhere in particular as everyone's tastes are different 💓

Hi Cheryl, we are having a holiday in Ayrshire with our toddler for a week at the end of May. Planning on spending a day in Arran too. Any recommendations for things we should see or do on the island or that general area of Scotland?

To me that's what made it look delicious. I know it looked overcooked, but to me it looked smashing. The chips looked great too.
I actually like my lasagna like that. Usually I can only get the corner pieces that way.

17 quid for a wee square of lasagne and some frozen chips , they should be thankful people use their business instead of scalping folk and blaming rising costs.
Hiya 🙂 yes...there aren't many 'cheap' places to eat at night unfortunately! But their prices are in line with other places on the Island.

@buffys3477 I love the fish and chips at my local diner. Their chips were the best in town, and they mixed them with sweet potato fries. Last time I treated myself, they'd switched out the best ones for what I knew were OreIda frozen. Haven't been back since, though a friend asked for me and they told her the regular ones are back
