This program (originally aired in 91) was syndicated and aired soon after in my country, Japan. And 5:42 was the very moment I came across this tune (i.e. Variation 7 only) for the first time in my then-twenty-year-long life and fell immediately in love with it (especially its soothingly profound solemnity) and was also the very reason dozens of my piano score collection at the time -- which was almost entirely consisted of Ravel's -- had only one streak of Germany. Thereafter I'd ranged through many renditions by distinguished hands all of which turned out less satiating than my first love, and after the advent of internet, occasionally searched for the footage I'd yearned for. When I found the playlist containing this, the elegant animation at the opening rang a bell and--voila! Finally over three decades, or rather 360 months sharp (to my astonishment upon investigation, this specific installment seems to have been aired on 15th, 22th or 29th of May 1992 in Japan, wow!), I've spotted it. You can't tell how much my heart is full repeating their playing.
