Electric superchargers are legit now and if a guy in his garage like AlexLTDLX can make 700hp with one, I would imagine GM could do the same or better.
Another RUclipsr pointed out how with the demise of both the Camaro and the Malibu that GM no longer has a car to run in NASCAR anymore. The plot thickens....😁
They should have either moved the SS/VF tooling to Canada or created a Chevrolet version of the ATS/CTS/CT5 with a 5.3/5.7/6.2/6.6L GenV and a manual option...way to not give the people what they want. They never even saw fit to make a regular cab short bed 2wd Silverado 1500 with a 6.0L or 6.2L over the course of the last 25 years... it's sad honestly.
They could use the vette. Yes it would look like crap and look nothing like a vette. But they’ve already been doing it with the Supra in the xfinity series
Besides the fact that Car & Driver has pulled pranks before, the proof of this being a fake ad is right there in the ad- and I'm not even talking about the disclaimer. That ad mentioned three non-GM brand names in the ad: Four-Loko, Dodge, and Coors. Had this been an actual corporate ad, the required trademark notices for those brands would have been in small print at the bottom of the ad. You know what DOESN'T need the trademark notices? SATIRE.

That Herbie replica is GORGEOUS!!! As for Pontiac, a lot of people were sharing that ad on Facebook and I immediately knew it was a hoax without even looking into it and never paid any attention to what I knew was BS. The only reason I watched this video was because of the sweet black and gold T/A in the video thumbnail. It appears to be a 1987 model. I own a few T/As myself... a 1991 Trans Am GTA and a 1997 Trans Am Ram Air WS6. Both of them are black with t-tops. It's too bad the T/As that TransAm Depot build cost so freakin' much because I would probably consider purchasing one if the price was in my budget. As a boutique, low volume automotive manufacturer, I totally understand their pricing because there's quite a bit that goes into the cars they produce and they are indeed beautiful and worth the price. Anyhoooo, I hope to see a video featuring your VW Herbie replica. I'm in love with those cars!
Hey Veronica! This is my first time running across any of your vids, but I've been wondering about the Trans Am ad myself, so I had to click. Lol. I subbed just for your personality 😆 Thank yee! *Edit- Well after finishing the video, I i guess now I understand why I haven't seen a video of yours lol.
My guess: whoever bought the back inside cover for that issue backed out and since they couldn't get another advertiser in time C&D just did that instead.
This wouldn't be the first time Pontiac and Car and Driver pranked the automotive world. There was the 64 GTO test where the Goat did 0-60 in 4.8 seconds. I think Jim Wangers many years later admitted the car had a tricked 428. The cover of that issue, like a carnival barker, promised a comparison test of the GM GTO versus the Ferrari GTO. Allegedly, they never had the two cars side by side. But that chicanery tweaked car people and ginned up sales for the magazine and PMD. I've got that issue buried in my collection.
Yeah but that wasn't an Ad either, that was an article. This wasn't "All Car and Driver" like GM has said publically, C&D isn't going to run a fake FULL PAGE ad in the PRIME advertising area like the back cover and violate Trademark Laws paying hundreds of thousands in fines from the Government just to sell a few more Magazines because they would lose more money in fines than they ever would by selling magazines, that's not just not Financially bad, that's Financially STUPID. This was GM putting fellers out to see what the public would say. GM no longer builds cars much less performance cars, Bringing back Pontiac would put them back in the car market and GM is at a cross roads financially, they don;t really have the money to bring Pontiac back but they don't they also don't have the money to not bring it back either, they have to do something to stop the bleeding before there's no more blood left to bleed and putting themselves back in the car market would help them alot.
Nobody would waste the time and money on an ad like that purely as a joke. GM is using that advertisement to gauge if there would be real interest. And there definitely would be. If they actually came out with a new Trans Am…I’d be purchasing my first new car. And it would have a spot right next to my ‘77.
@@hendo337 Car and Driver aren't going to take up PRIME Advertising space plus Violate Trademark laws and pay hundreds of thousands of dollars if not more in fines from the Government just to fill a page and pull a funny haha.... ESPECIALLY not in this economy. This was GM telling their marketing department to run this ad to put out feelers to judge the public reaction to bringing back another brand. GM is at a crossroads, They went to far down the SUV rabbit hole and it's cost them billions and now that they are all but out of the EV market they have an Assembly plant sitting there virtually empty. it wouldn't take as long as it used to bring back Pontiac and get production rolling because everything is computerized now, they are no longer "putting pen to paper" and using modeling clay, they are designing on computers and then up loading the specs to a 3D printer and spitting it out in a couple hours, the same with the stamping dyes, it doesn't take 2 months to move the dyes manually, it's all computer controlled all you have to do is upload the specs and get to stamping. They could announce it June 1st and start production to sell this time next year for the 2026 model year.
Car & Driver has done this before. If the ad space hasn't sold, that page still has to exist in print copies. You think C&D is just going to have a blank white page if the ad space didn't sell? GM didn't produce the ad, because if they did, they would have been required to small-print trademark notices for the brand names used in the ad that they don't own (Four-Loko, Dodge, Coors). Satire doesn't need the trademark notices.
@@TheREALJosephTurner You couldn't be more wrong if you tried......first IF they hadn't sold it they would have called a company and sold it on a discount. Second, NO they do not to have use the trademark notices IF they own it, third Satire DOES need trademark notices because YOU don't own them and fifth you DO realize that even WITH permission you can STILL get fined for using them in a false, RIGHT? Of course you don't, because you don't know the trademark laws at all......... You just think you know because you use google.
Hey Veronica I just commented 30 minutes ago on The Fast Lane Car channel this same thing. I am a Trans Am guy having owned a new 78 Formula a new 79 T/A, a couple of new third gens and have a restored 79 T/A now. I live in Georgia only 45 minutes from Trans Am Worldwide and they also own Trans Am Depot that does restorations. I am fairly sure there is nothing to it but I'm impressed you jumped straight to facts. I just subscribed to your channel looking forward to more posts
There's no way modern car regulations would allow a good new trans am anyway. Not at a price I could afford. Hold onto your old cars lads, we're not getting anything better from here on out.
Bring back the old vids!!! Glad this is doing so well for you though. Absolutely no idea why C&D would do this. A new Chevrolet sports car would be sick though. Definitely excited for your Motor Tend video. I too have copied a Scotty Kilmer video title very intentionally. Just as he does to others. Don't forget a red arrow in the thumbnail. ;)
One CAN produce a brand new '67, '68, and/or '69 Firebird in both hardtop and convertible form using a Dynacorn body. So, kinda/sorta like Dorothy from the 'Wizard of Oz' for years one has had the ability to clap their heels together and say, "There's no car like a 1967 or '68 or '69 Firebird", "There's no car like a 1967 or '68 or '69 Firebird", "There's no car like a 1967 or '68..." over and over and one CAN have a BRAND NEW classic Firebird.
I will be first in line. I have always been a Chevy guy. I have had Camaros Corvettes 3 Impala SS . I bought a new Dodge Challenger because it's the only real muscle car. If Pontiac comes back and builds a real muscle TA I'm buying 2
My guess is a Corvette based Pontiac. Perhaps they will produce a real road-going car based on the 1980s concept car that Pontiac showed off anywhere and everywhere at that time, the Banshee. Obviously it was never produced for the public. It was a front-engine concept car (as it was intended to show what bits and pieces would make it to the next generation Firebird). However, it does LOOK like it was considered to be a rear-engine car, so it could work with the current Corvette. Or, perhaps they will take the Revology route and make classic Firebirds based on Dynacorn bodies, but with a modern suspension and modern crate engines. I have no idea how many of the quarter-million dollar Mustangs Revology is moving, but they are still in business so someone must be buying them.

This could go so many ways. My first thought was NASCAR. With the Camaro being gone, GM will need a new model to use in their competition, or they'd have to bow out of the sport (which I don't see happening). Chevy can use the Camaro model in NASCAR through 2025 then they will need a new plan. The Camaro is gone, the Malibu was just announced as discontinued at the end of 2024, so...............hmmmmm. Oh and what car make was created in 1926 that would celebrate their 100th anniversary in 2026 ? Coincidence ? By the way, love that pic of you at the back of that black 3rd gen, what a smoke show !!
why would GM replace the Camaro with the Camaro as a Trans Am? i would love to see Pontiac come back but i don't think they will do this. Supposedly GM has tested a car in the wind tunnel but it was classified as GM not Chevy....
I don't get it, how many 5th and 6th gen Camaros were built...they already put in all the work to profitably create "Trans Ams" and "GTOs" based on those cars with GenIV and GenV Chevrolet V8s why not just keep producing bidy kits and souped up 6.2L and 6.6L engines or strokers based on those engines and keep selling builds built with used cars to anyone who will pay T/A Worldwide to have one...
I'm just tired of the Camaros in drag since 82' of "Trans Ams". I'd want a Pontiac drivetrain. Or at least an LS/LT1 with unique Pontiac alterations. ie: more displacement
Do you mind if I point to your channel? Im about to record my long form episode on this. Did a stream last week on a friends channel, and I talked about this ad, and why I do believe its going to happen, and even know who will be hired as employees and whatnot. Just came across your channel, and you totally sound Jersey. For a moment I thought you snuck into my garage. Same cinder blocks, even the AC in the window is the same. Did you sneak in, move 12 cars, pull out my 1320 and sneak Herby in my garage lol.
@@veronica.wheels I dont do the whole stealing thing. I did some more digging, and the lead with TAWW is not without merit. Of course, TKs Garage is speculating that GM is selling Pontiac to a Chinese car maker....hopefully thats not true.
Pontiac will rise from the ashes just like the Phoenix on the hood of the Trans Am. Definitely has the hot library and look going on. I brought my book back, unfortunately, I didn’t bring enough money to pay the fine. I am willing to bet Pontiac’s coming back. Limited production, the Trans Am, the GTO definitely and hopefully the Grand Prix. Maybe even a couple versions of the Firebird. If that’s the case I’ll take a hop, the Firebird and yellow with white leather.
Let Pontiac R.I.P.!, A new Trans Am would only be a slightly re - bodied Camaro anyway, but then again there are people with deep pockets who would pony up the coin to own one! 🤣🤣🤣
Everyone has forgotten that Car and Driver magazine has pulled a similar automotive manufacturer revival stunt back a few years ago, with the April fools article about the return of AMC. Except it was a 3-4 page article. Face it , Pontiac is R.I, P. It was fun while it lasted. Be thankful Hummer is back as a GMC model.
Veronica .Wheels Hello Friend thank you for doing this investigation in on this story ,about Car and Driver talking about General Motors to bring the Pontiac Division Back !!! But i will saying this, me as well knowing people in the Automobile industry for 33 years don't just Count GM out just yet !! Because they are in a good position to bring the Pontiac division back, with more performance Vehicles / cars again !! After all Chevrolet cut all there performance cars off , other then the Chevrolet Corvette was is a awesome sports car !! But, General Motors from a marketing point of view needs ,other performance cars to keep the company profitable !! And smart business move to bring the Pontiacs back out, but the right design styles , wonderful powertrains, prices and the quality, plus strong marketing has to be on point 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸💪💪💪
Exactly, and from the Car and Driver viewpoint, They aren't going to waste PRIME Advertising real estate and violate Trademark laws paying hundreds of thousands in Government fines just to pull a funny haha to sell more magazines, they pay FAR more in the fines than they ever would in magazine sales, in this economy that would just be financially stupid.

To say it all, it seems like the April edition of Car and Driver most likely exposed. Not saying if the Firebird is back that is the car that comes to mind, remake Smokey and the Bandit and you have a British guy playing Burt Reynolds’ character probably Henry Cavill could get a great Southern accent and probably win an Oscar.
I'm in Florida and TAWW was the first thing I thought of but then thought there is no way in heck GM would license the brand name to them without a TON of money. GM would rather die in it and let it rot.
Gonna be honest, I’d be shocked if it were to actually happen. Particularly under this current CEO. I haven’t bought a new GM since ‘08, a G8 I still have, due to the direction they took and still have not forgiven for dropping Pontiac. A problem largely of their own making over time, though government had a hand in the downfall as well with their BS. In any case, I’d be the first to applaud it if the decision was made. Unless it’s/they are EVs, then they can shove the whole thing.
Trans Am Worldwide has recently gone all in on their latest 1970 Chevelle SS homage based on the current Camaro chassis. It was at the 2022 SEMA show and been making the rounds ever since.
Well......that's a little disappointing. I was always a fan of the Formula Firebird and the T/A. I always thought they looked more stylish than the Camaro.
Seeing 3gen firebird is one of the earliest memories in my life I remember. It was 2002 or 03 eastern europe, commie blocks complex in some shithool town, my and my friends are playing in some wreck on the parking loot. We hear the noise....we looked up...red '91 firebird parked right in front of the tower block. Pop up headlight, the noise, the looks, it was the coolest thing we saw in our lifes. Now i'm 100% sure it was 3.1 v6 base euro spec but at the time it was the coolest car ever. My car egg cracked and now im GM/malaise era loving degenerat...So this add get me thinking. 1 Camaro is death, the alpha plarform is not death yet but gm says the ct4 and ct5 are the last cars on this platform. 2 So GM now have ZERO front engine RWD car platforms 3 GM says they will go full EV by 2035....but do they ??? 4 New dodge charger is going to be the bigest flop in last decade in US automotive industry, this shit is so bad CEO od ram/dodge Tim Kuniskis left company last week. 5 OG 4 door charger was one of the most importend cars of 21 century, even here in eastern europe kids have his posters on the walls. 6 Ford announced that they will probably make 4 door mustang, because they want to take old charger niche. 7 Ev sales are joke, nothing really sells except Tesla, Mercedes says they will never make EV only platform, again. 8 GM went full EV, EV pickup market is already death, they know those EV cadillac will flop. I know the lyryk is selling Ok, but still costs of platform ect, i beat they loose money one every single one of those cars. The 400k sux6000 looking thing with stupid name is going to be the biggest GM flop since i don't even know allante ? So there is 2 options in my opinion. 1 Gm bring back pontiac as chevy special division, same shit they did with GMC and Hummer. Bob Lutz in one of the interview on Rare Classic Cars & Automotive Chanel said they wanted to do something like this in the early 00s. Just make pontiac chevy version of hellcat XD, to take dodge market niche. Fuck they can even reborn the twin turbo blackwing V8 for that...that 4.2 twinturbo blackwing v8. Story of this engine is...i don't want to get into this, they make whole new engine only to put it in 230 cars. This is crazy shit even for gm standards. And this and this brings us to option 2. 2. GM as Government Motors is too braindeath to do anything good, they just don't care and they will axe all normal cars like malibu or camaro. Then they will make unprofitable super expensive EVs to next bankruptcy and goverment bailout. Or they bring back pontiac as top trim on new '26 4 door ev camaro.
I would love to see Pontiac come back and could see it happening. I think they may be toying with the idea of bringing it back. But everyone is claiming its because of NASCAR but why replace the Camaro with the Camaro with a Firebird name. makes no sense. I do think they could bring back Pontiac as the CHEAP affordable fun division.
@@veronica.wheels if I had a nickle for everything ive ever misspelled I could afford a fleet of cars and motorcycles . I honestly thought that was done intentionally as a misnomer to hoax the hoax .
Pontiac could be the performance hybrid/EV brand and it would be pitch perfect. No SUVs, vans, or other BS. Give me a 1000 hp electric Trans Am that can beat a Model S in a drag race. A murdered out 80s retro style electric performance machine. Basically, give me KITT. I want KITT.
Herbie even knew it was fake, I saw his expressions change as you spoke. Good Looking Herbie btw. Also it seems casual, I’m guilty of it too, we should not use the Name of GOD in Vain.
Let's just get down to the 'nitty gritty' of what this hoopla is REALLY all about. It's attention for Car & Driver magazine that it would NEVER be getting otherwise, plain and simple. It's been cut down to a bimonthly from a monthly, Motor Trend is now a quarterly. Car & Driver had this professional fake ad made up and put it on their inside back cover, at no cost to them. It may appear they gave up ad space, but were willing to do it to create buzz for the magazine that desperately needs it. Today's vehicles are an f'n bore, and have been for years. Same with the damn auto shows. I guess I can't blame them for trying to avoid getting the ax, like Pontiac, but it's coming.
I have no idea why Scottie Kilmer is as popular as he is... most of his videos being pure unadulterated clickbait where he says the same exact stuff which is mostly basic bish biased repetitive opinions you would find 10 years ago in Jalopnik's comment section don't help his case with me. I don't haye the guy but, I know what to expect and I'm not there for it.
I just figured they (whoever that may be) are bringing the T.A. name back for an EV since Camaro's supposedly dead now. Firebird, like electric.. fire... EV... I dunno 🤷
That Pontiac ad was clickbait. If Pontiac were to return, then I can bet my bottom dollar that it’ll return as a hybrid or an EV that nobody wants because it would not fit the Pontiac image
A quick search reveals this story has gone semi-viral. C&D joke, or down-low GM marketing campaign who knows. Stuff like this does not hurt GM, but it does hurt C&D integrity because it's coming across as a crass campaign to generate and sell advertising space based on C&D clicks. Plus, C&D knew this was going to happen, hence the fine print. BTW, I did visit the Trans Am Worldwide website a few days ago, and noticed they didn't have any current Trans Am info listed which I thought was weird. Just pics on the Camaro based GTO/Chevelle. But that's as far as I went. Also, I had no idea they've stopped building 6th gen Trans Am's, so that good to know. But why did they stop?
IF people actually thought this through they would know it's not "just Car and Driver pulling a joke". There's NO way they run an Ad in the PRIME Advertising real estate like the back cover PLUS face hundreds of thousands in fines from Government for Violating Trademark Laws just to sell a few more magazines, They would lose 200 times more money in fines than they ever would in magazine sales, that's not just financially bad that's financially stupid. Especially when Magazine sales are going back up, not just for C&D but across the board. The older generation is still buying magazines and Gen Zers are into the "retro" things and like having in hand magazines and books.
They did (they use to) have a GM licensing agreement. u should have asked them why did this agreement stop ? there must be a reason ? hunch.. possibly GM wishes to soley be the owner, so they can pump out this dream machine ?
I watch a lot of car reviews of every type of car, and I loved the Trans-Am as a kid... Only saw, I think, Jay Leno and that weird dude reviewing it. Is the car that sheitty?!

If the Camaro is being discontinued what is T/A Worldwide using to make the next gen Trans Am ?
On the board was a Holden based Pontiac Ute for either '11 or '12.
Gawd, I luv the glasses!
Or El Camino
@@Embargoman Apparently no one picked it up (Based on the Chevy SS or Caprice PPV).
Nobody would waste the time and money on an ad like that purely as a joke. GM is using that advertisement to gauge if there would be real interest. And there definitely would be. If they actually came out with a new Trans Am…I’d be purchasing my first new car. And it would have a spot right next to my ‘77.
Print media is sort of dying, maybe they couldn't sell a page of ads and whipped that up as filler.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@TheREALJosephTurner You couldn't be more wrong if you tried......first IF they hadn't sold it they would have called a company and sold it on a discount. Second, NO they do not to have use the trademark notices IF they own it, third Satire DOES need trademark notices because YOU don't own them and fifth you DO realize that even WITH permission you can STILL get fined for using them in a false, RIGHT? Of course you don't, because you don't know the trademark laws at all......... You just think you know because you use google.
I’m guessing Car & Driver sold a lot of copies of that issue.
Love the Herbie car! 👍
I wonder what C&D is trying to do. Maybe they're just measuring the effectiveness and impact of print ads, as the printed magazine format is dying.
This is probably the most likely answer and what I would be most inclined to agree with!
Thanks for pointing out the small print at the bottom of that post april fools joke.
Be aware, the “Trans Am” name is not owned or licensed by GM. That would be the SCCA..
Be aware GM owns all the firebird imagery and Pontiac arrow that they have been licensing out to TA worldwide
@@veronica.wheels great…just not the name..
Hey Veronica I just commented 30 minutes ago on The Fast Lane Car channel this same thing. I am a Trans Am guy having owned a new 78 Formula a new 79 T/A, a couple
of new third gens and have a restored 79 T/A now. I live in Georgia only 45 minutes from Trans Am Worldwide and they also own Trans Am Depot that does restorations. I am
fairly sure there is nothing to it but I'm impressed you jumped straight to facts.
I’m worried they’ll bring it back as an SUV/Crossover.
They already did that- it was called the Pontiac Aztek.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Today’s GM is unworthy of producing a real Pontiac 👊🏽
Perhaps the "make some noise" is to start a buzz and maybe generate enough interest so gm may bring back the pontiac division.
I look forward to seeing whatever comes out when it comes out!
I will be first in line. I have always been a Chevy guy. I have had Camaros Corvettes 3 Impala SS . I bought a new Dodge Challenger because it's the only real muscle car. If Pontiac comes back and builds a real muscle TA I'm buying 2
Veronica love the Trans Am shots of you and your Trans Am. Definitely reminds me of the 80s.
There aren't any more Camaro's, so no more conversions to Trans Am.
Correct. It must be a new platform and I can't wait.
It’ll probably be on the Camaro platform

This has to be one of the biggest trolling attempts I've ever seen from a magazine.
MotorWeek retro parody? ಠ_ಠ
NASCAR has so little in common with street cars they might as well just put a generic brand logo on them as an advertisement long ago. 😂
why would GM replace the Camaro with the Camaro as a Trans Am? i would love to see Pontiac come back but i don't think they will do this. Supposedly GM has tested a car in the wind tunnel but it was classified as GM not Chevy....
Want to drive a 667 hp Holden Commodore on the Australian Autobahn? Well, now you can
Make another Pontiac Vibe please. Would buy it in a heartbeat.
I’m eating popcorn while watching this 😮
I don't get it, how many 5th and 6th gen Camaros were built...they already put in all the work to profitably create "Trans Ams" and "GTOs" based on those cars with GenIV and GenV Chevrolet V8s why not just keep producing bidy kits and souped up 6.2L and 6.6L engines or strokers based on those engines and keep selling builds built with used cars to anyone who will pay T/A Worldwide to have one...
There was a 6th gen?
I'm just tired of the Camaros in drag since 82' of "Trans Ams". I'd want a Pontiac drivetrain. Or at least an LS/LT1 with unique Pontiac alterations. ie: more displacement
Do you mind if I point to your channel? Im about to record my long form episode on this. Did a stream last week on a friends channel, and I talked about this ad, and why I do believe its going to happen, and even know who will be hired as employees and whatnot.

Everyone has forgotten that Car and Driver magazine has pulled a similar automotive manufacturer revival stunt back a few years ago, with the April fools article about the return of AMC.

AND HERE WE GO. Get those Subscribers!
Trans Am Worldwide has recently gone all in on their latest 1970 Chevelle SS homage based on the current Camaro chassis. It was at the 2022 SEMA show and been making the rounds ever since.
2026 would be the 100th anniversary for Pontiac
And it will pass unnoticed.
Doing the lords work✨✨
Well......that's a little disappointing. I was always a fan of the Formula Firebird and the T/A. I always thought they looked more stylish than the Camaro.
At the end of the day I hate to say but I think it’s nothing but a marketing ploy. But it would be cool if it wasn’t 😂
we need a GM-GNX/GXP V-8 with all the tech BS taken out, 6 speed manual, regular radio, door locks, windows, with simple A/C, and rear wheel drive.
GM's not that smart - but, it's still an exciting thought! 6.6L Fiero??? 😈😈😈
Pontiac is great, but please show us more of your rad VDub 🙏
Isn’t it funny how GM is discontinuing the Camaro? Try this on, “ Chevy Trans Am”
2 So GM now have ZERO front engine RWD car platforms
3 GM says they will go full EV by 2035....but do they ???
You could always buy a Cybertruck and put Aztek emblems on it? 🤔 Actually, the Camaro conversions make more sense.

Everybody is talking about car and driver , aren t they...
