@BibleLine Thank you SO MUCH for doing a video on my question! It’s made me realize how important it is to separate salvation and service, and to not conflate good works with salvation, but rather to let good works flow from you as a celebration of your salvation through Faith in Christ alone; as a way to let Christ live through you! Hopefully this video helped others wrestling with the same struggle. Thank you for this ministry! It has blessed me and so many others. God Bless!

    So good !
Many of us are confused on the role of works in the Christian life.
I have learned so much from this channel as well as from Yankee and Cucuzza.
It’s mind blowing how much lordship/ Calvinist influences have crept into the church and then taught as biblical doctrine leading to so many people, like this man through his question, living in doubt , fear , anxiety and constantly searching for peace about their salvation and standing in Christ.
Thanks again for a complete and impactful biblical answer in just a 10 minute video !!

Just do the works and give glory to God, be thankful continually for Jesus having paid the price, remind yourself that you're not doing the work to earn your salvation, but you just want to let God be glorified through your good work and be a light to the world as Jesus told us we should strive to be. It ain't that hard, you know you're not earning your salvation with works, but you do want to continue to live in fellowship with Christ and grow in relationship with him even though you know you are already saved.

Have an amazing weekend yall. Excited for 2025. Also I wanted to add a point about how important guarding our eyes and ears is. Especially for new believers, there are so many flavors of false doctrine out there. Sometimes a dart sticks and leads us from the truth. Like you said Pastor Jesse, scripture is the weapon to obliterate them. ❤❤

I had this problem as well. The way I combat it is to try to remain humble. I try not to pride myself on helping people. I'm not saying I refrain from helping but I try not to let my feelings and emotions overwhelm me. May not work for everyone as we are all different. I just try not to tell myself "see? I did something good for someone. That tells me I'm saved." Its a fleshly battle.

I did find this presentation helpful in my own continued growing experience, as I look back I can see real changes in my life, but I to still struggle internally as this person who emailed the question. I have faith that little by little, God will help each person grow in the Spirit at the right times as they continue their journey of being sanctified by the Spirit. I truly look forward to being free from all sin, when we are transformed / resurrected at the rapture event, shedding our sin filled body (and mind for that matter) as we will no longer be able to sin, as we will be in a perfected state as our Lord Jesus Christ is.

When I do works there are two objectives: that Christ in me is the true source, not me or for human or earthly objectives. And secondly and most importantly, never boast, or feel obligated to share what those works are or exploit for self. It’s so more rewarding to do good works that are between only you, the receiver and God that know about it.

Acts 16:31 "And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." @ Water baptism (physical world, Kingdom of Heaven, where the Earth hangs) is a picture of what occurs in the spiritual world (Kingdom of God, where God dwells). John the Baptist clearly tells us this in Matthew 3:11 “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:”. It’s a likeness and Scripture plainly and clearly tells us this. Romans 6:5 “For if we have been planted together in the LIKENESS of his death, we shall be also in the LIKENESS of his resurrection:” Salvation or being born again is compared to a physical birth John 3:6 “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” This is why Jesus spoke in parables. He was making a physical comparison to its spiritual counterpart. Otherwise we would not be capable of understanding it. John 3:5 “Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” Everyone is born of water, when your mother gives birth her water breaks. Jesus clearly defines the two births in John 3:6. John 3:5 as a physical birth AND a spiritual birth and has absolutely no mention of water baptism. Ephesians 2:8-9 is simply what it actually says. For by GRACE=Unmerited favor. are ye saved through Faith=Belief. And that not of yourselves=not anything You do. It is the Gift=A gift is free, unconditionally, without obligation (such as and obligation to be baptized). Not of works= A second time, nothing that we do. Lest any man should boast=So we can’t brag that salvation was anything that we have done.

I struggle so much each day that the anxiety is choking me. I have no Christian friends and struggling to read the bible and pray. I’ve almost given up a bunch of times and walked away. People say ‘stay in there, God has a plan for your life, things will get better, your faith will grow and God will use you’
I just can’t see it, I think they’re probably delusional as I’ve asked Christ to take over, I pray I listen to sermons/videos like this constantly. I feel condemned because of my nicotine and food addiction. I was an apostate for 32 years and don’t felt forgiven. I don’t see Jesus like I did then, I instantly believed the gospel and felt joy. Now I just feel dread. I fear him now after walking away for 32 years and previously being involved with dark practices which I have fully repented of. I was only 17 when I came to Christ and am now 52. Having no support is so tough. I feel dead instead of alive. Being a new creation (if in fact I am one) is not a joyous experience. I’m so depressed and hopeless 😢

@@Lesley-s4mafter reading both your responses, you said you didn't feel forgiven. Then you mentioned feelings several more times. I'm inclined to ask you, just who are you trusting in? The Lord Jesus Christ or your feelings (your heart). The Bible says "he that trusted in his own heart is a fool." And feelings is the complete opposite of faith. I struggled with the same thing. I didn't feel saved or I felt like I was a reprobate. God tells us what He requires. "Repentance towards God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ". Just be honest with God, repent of all your sins including the sin of unbelief, God commands you to repent, and then He commands you to believe upon His Son. obedience is the very best way to show that you believe, so do what God commands you to do and do those two things right now, even if you feel nothing. Feelings have nothing to do with it! and trust Him! For by Grace you are saved through faith! you have to have faith or He won't save you! So trust Him to do it! and in time when He sees that you're real and you mean that you will serve Him no matter what. He'll bear witness to your heart but stop trusting in your feelings. It's the devil telling you that you have to feel something. God gives you access to His grace by your faith, when you have faith and you obey, the feelings will come! but even if there's no feelings still do what's right! hope this helps you

My faith is the reason I have not given up and walked away. I understand you are trying to help (being through love as commanded by Jesus through scripture) but what do you mean by saying be obedient? Are you without struggles? Or being an obedient believer you do not struggle? Do you think by not trusting in my feelings but by faith that it’s that easy to squash the doubts and fear as an apostate? You say it’s a sin not to believe, but if I didn’t believe do you think I’d be in this daily battle of trying to obey God? Obedience doesn’t just show you believe or why are there so many Christians that think lordship is essential which it is not. God sees the heart does He not? It’s not as easy to say it’s that black and white. We are not robots and I’m not a Calvinist. I know faith isn’t feelings and not yo trust them but it runs deeper than that. I left my faith a long time ago when I was very young and have just returned 32 years later. That as well as my addictions are where the problem is. I worry so much that I have ruined, and am still ruining my relationship with the Lord.

I struggled 30+ years with a nicotine addiction. It’s a struggle. I prayed, pre planned candies and changed habits. If I can do it, so can you.
Paul talks of daily struggles with the flesh too. We do what we don’t want to and don’t do what we should. Honest people will tell you it’s a struggle daily for life because you’re fighting the enemy of Principalities, spirits and powers. Keep in the Word, prayed up and learning.
Your feelings of guilt, fear and condemnation are not from God.
Take your thoughts captive. When you get an intrusive thought that is negative it is not God. Replace it with scripture.

I’m very thankful for your videos and understanding of the Word. I’ve been struggling to properly dvide the Word, certain parts of the Bible would really scare me, I’d read and think I wasn’t “doing something” properly. Matthew 7:20 really scared me for a long time. I think God finally gave me his wisdom and understanding that those mentioned in Matthew 7:20 are ones relying on their works to be saved. I’m curious how you interpret 1 Thessalonians 4:3? Jesus says only ones who do the will of the Father inherit the kingdom. John tells us the will of the Father is to believe in Jesus. However, 1 Thessalonians also says the will of the Father is our sanctification by abstaining from sexual immorality. That sounds like a “work” but it also reads pretty straightforward. 1 Thessalonians 4:8 “So, he who rejects this is not rejecting man but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you.” Can I reject God by choosing to do certain sins? 2 theseelonians 2:13 “God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth" is our ability to be sanctified connected to our ability to be saved?

    • @BibleLine
      @BibleLine  19 дней назад +2

Great question. We usually tie Matthew 7 "will of the Father" with John 6 "will of the Father" because it is the exact phrasing, and it is in the same time frame of the gospel accounts. Both are spoken by the same person - Jesus. Both are addressed to specific audiences as well, and this is actually key to Bible study. Sometimes Jesus speaks specifically to his disciples, sometimes to unbelievers, sometimes to Pharisees who do or do not believe, sometimes to random people, and you get the point.
In 1 Thessalonians, Paul is speaking to the believing church in Thessolonica. This church is actually doing well, performing spiritually, but they are under persecution regarding specifically prophetic things. Paul reminds them of some doctrinal truths, and he also encourages them in other church disciplines. None of this letter is concerning how the Thessolonians need to be saved, but these are reminders beyond that of their salvation status. Paul knew they had believed because of their testimony that they had believed. Salvation is faith in Christ who died for our sin, and they had believed in Him.
Therefore, in chapter 4, it is good practice for a believer to abstain from fornication just as other sins, and this is absolutely the will of God. Giving thanks is also a part of the will of God (1 Thess. 5:18), but this is to the same believing church. God has a will for all men to be saved (1 Timothy 2:4), but he has specific things he wills in the life of a believer. Ultimately it boils down to reaching the lost and training the saved. This may require the believer to stop doing certain sins. The sins inhibit the believer from growing closer to God in fellowship, and they also ruin the believer's testimony. These "works" do not apply to salvation because that is simply not the point of the passages. We can see clearly in Matthew 7 and John 6 that the point is concerning eternal life and condemnation. The message of salvation is always and only believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.

    Please refer to James 2:14-18
14What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?
15Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food.
16If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?
17In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
18But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.

a Christian produces good works because they are saved and transformed by the Holy Spirit. It’s not the works that make us Christian; it’s our faith in Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Jesus said in Matthew 7:16-20, “By their fruit you will recognize them.” This doesn’t mean that the fruit (good works) makes someone a Christian, but it does serve as evidence of what’s inside. A healthy tree produces good fruit because it is alive and well. Similarly, a heart transformed by God will naturally produce godly fruit-things like love, kindness, patience, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). So yes, it’s by their fruit that we recognize Christians-not as a means of judgment, but as a natural outflow of a life surrendered to Christ.

I’d say just focus on Jesus Christ and NOT on doing good deeds and you’ll be surprised how God will work through you naturally as you abide in Christ. Stop being so works focused and more Christ focused or you’ll fall into Galatian Error, thinking that now that you’re saved you’re supposed to go back to the works of the Law for the perfecting of the flesh.

His grace and mercy overflows! If we focus on these things, I believe when the opportunity arises to help someone or do a "good work", we will do it because our hearts are turned towards Him, and He can work through us.

James 2:18 But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works. Show me your faith without works, and I will show you faith by my works."
We know true saving faith produces works that bears good fruit, and those without fail to show evidence they are saved.
We also find Jesus telling us this, along with required genuine repentance. What is true repentance? True repentance means we agree with God about our sin, and we turn away from continuing to live in that sin. Does this mean you are just going to stop doing those sins cold turkey? No! There is no such thing as perfect repentance, but if we truly give our lives to Jesus, then we should see real change in ourselves (and others will see that genuine change as well), as we find a natural desire to read and study the word of God each day, and grow in our prayer life one day at a time.
Many believers are going to be in deep shock and possibly even confused as to why they were left behind in the rapture, because I believe most believers are not prepared, and it takes me back to the parable of the 10 virgins, in which 5 of them did not have extra oil with them (which represents the Holy Spirit) and were those who may have said a sinners prayer in genuine fashion at one point in their life, but they continued living the way they have always done, thinking "I am saved" or "once saved always saved" when they were never truly saved to begin with.
There is a lot of confusion taking place in the Church today with what is true repentance, what is true salvation. God will help us on this journey by molding us, pruning us, chastening us, and I believe those who blackslide continuously will end up dying and finding themselves in hell, as they chose to ignore all the times God called them to him, even though that person may have said a sinners prayers once or twice in their life but never produced genuine repentance by turning away from those sinful habits.
This is why Jesus even tells us how MANY would come to him that day and say, "Lord, Lord!" and they will be turned away, because broad is the road that leads to destruction, including false teachings, for NARROW is the way that FEW will find, that leads to eternal life. There are so many believers who are deceived today, who do not understand what true salvation is, and we have to try and help them learn and understand it requires genuine repentance and producing the fruits of the Spirit in our lives.

Interesting set of ideas. I’ll just ask a couple questions. How much is “continuously” when it comes to backsliding? Are we talking 1 lie, or are we talking a married man being unfaithful with 10 women? Are you the judge of that standard? Did Jesus specify “living in sin” versus “a little sin?” Does Jesus think “a little sin” is “okay?”
If that is the standard instead of 1 John 5:10-13, then man… idk if I’m saved 🧐

@brotherinchrist72 Good works in the life of a person is not an accurate indicator that the person is saved. There are many people who exhibit good works after spending many years in prison and then go through rehab, but are not saved and are of another religion. There are many devout Roman Catholics, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Calvinists, Arminians, Pentacostals, etc, who all exhibit good works all in the name of "Jesus Christ", but are not saved. Why? Because they all have another "Jesus" that is not the same Jesus of the Bible.
They all have another "Jesus" that requires the front loading and back loading of works into the salvation equation resulting in a damning gospel that cannot and will not save. (The front loading of works "to get saved" and the back loading of works "to stay saved and to prove to oneself and others that they are saved.") This is due to a very errant understanding of such passages as Luke 8:6-8/Luke 8:13-15, 1 Corinthians 9:27, 2 Corinthians 13:5, Philippians 2:12, James 2:14-26 where these passages are all taken out of context and eisegeted where the person imposes his/her philosophical presuppositions into the text.
Change in the life of a person is also not an accurate indicator that one is saved. In my city there was once a notorious gang leader who terrorized the city back in the late 1960's and early 1970's. We're talking about big time extortion and murder. This gang leader was finally arrested and spent years in prison and after this person finished the prison sentence, he went through rehab and experienced a LIFE CHANGE. This person is no longer a gang leader, but over time has become a college professor with a Ph.D, is married, has kids that are in college and is doing pretty well financially, BUT this person is not a Christian.
In Japan, there is a writer named Shoko Tendo who was a gang member in her teens and 20's who lived a life of gang violence, drugs, and sex. In fact, her father was a mafia boss in Japan (the Yakuza mafia), now deceased. After Shoko was severely abused both physically and sexually by her frequent boyfriends and after several failed suicide attempts, she finally woke up to reality and left behind the awful lifestyle she was in.
Her turning point in life came when she decided to get a full body tattoo and she stated that getting the tattoo empowered her to change. She experienced a LIFE CHANGE and became a writer in Japan and I believe she is also an activist helping abused women. Shoko is not a Christian and her book indicates that she is Buddhist in her religion. She is currently a single mother raising a daughter.
Here are 2 examples of people who turned from sin and evil and experienced life change, but are not Christian.
Change is not always an accurate indicator of whether one is saved. God has given all men free will to obey/disobey, be faithful/unfaithful, but the problem with mankind in general is innate PRIDE and SELFISHNESS which makes it hard for a person to change whether the person is saved or unsaved. Change is not automatic after one is saved and it is not easy and it always requires willful cooperation on the part of the person being willing to do things God's way. Many saved people SHOULD change, but the lack of it is not an indication of being unsaved. The lack of it is usually again due to pride, selfishness, and LAZINESS - James 2:14-26, 1 John 3:17-18, and also because of our inborn sin nature (Romans 7:14-25) that will not be eradicated until Christ returns at the Rapture to transform us - 1 Corinthians 15:51-52, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, 1 John 3:2.
There are many kind hearted people in society like philanthropists, humanitarianists, Buddhists, the Boys/Girls Scouts of America, and even some atheists who do good works and exhibit love and concern for others, but many of these people are not saved and many are of a false religion. These kinds of people can sometimes exist side by side with genuinely saved Christians who don't exhibit good attributes.

@@wtom04 I agree with much of what you said, as I came out of the LDS faith after being brought up as a child in Roman Catholicism.
Maybe I didn't word my point of view in a way as well as I should have, but from experience and what the scriptures tell us, a change in someone I am referring to is a spiritual change, to be known by their fruits.
There are 2 types of fruits of the Spirit,
      1. How we conduct ourselves, and showing Christ like love towards others (IE: love your neighbor as yourself).
      2. The fruit of one's doctrine, if it is not the true doctrine God has given us, then it is a false doctrine (gospel) like Mormonism, Islam, Roman Catholicms, JW's, etc.
At the end of it all, only God knows our hearts and will judge everyone by their works and understanding, but for most people I do not think we will have an excuse when we have had access to God's true word, and chose to reject it.

      @brotherinchrist72 18 дней назад +1

@@BibleLine You may not understand what it means to backslide, and there is no such thing as "a little sin" vs "a lot of sin", as that reminds me of Roman Catholicism with their venial sins vs mortal sins.
Sin is sin in God's eyes. Have you not read that if we break one of the least of these commandments, you break them all?
There is no standard, but that of God. The question we ought to be asking ourselves is if we are in the spirit, as Paul teaches us to do. Examine yourselves to see if you are truly in the spirit.
If we have to ask "what is sin to God" as many try to argue "love is love and God is love" which is common among the woke ideologies today, these are people who are looking for excuses, or reasons to live in their sinful ways, while twisting and perverting the word of God in an attempt to justify it.

    • @wtom04
      @wtom04 18 дней назад

@brotherinchrist72 All Christians still sin AFTER conversion whether they realize it or not and sometimes fall into serious sin. Our innate sin nature has not been eradicated/disabled yet which is why we are in desperate need for transformation which will take place on the day of the Rapture when Christ comes to take and transform us - 1 Cor 15:51-52, 1 Thess 4:16-17, Philippians 3:21, 1 John 3:2.
Genuine repentance is a CHANGE OF MIND from unbelief to belief on Christ and His finished work on the cross to be instantly saved - John 5:24.
In Greek, there are 3 different words for "repent" with 3 different meanings which will no doubt cause confusion. Saved Christians are to repent of sin AFTER they are saved to avoid temporal chastisement from God and to avoid the unpleasant earthly consequences of their actions. Their eternal salvation remains intact and untouched despite the fact that many sinning Christians will lose out on ETERNAL REWARDS that they otherwise could have been entitled to had they lived in obedience and faithfulness - 1 Corinthians 3:10-15.

a Christian produces good works because they are saved and transformed by the Holy Spirit.

    This is *dangerously false teaching.* The scriptures are abundantly clear: we will be judged by our *ACTIONS,* which will demonstrate our fidelity to King Jesus or lack thereof, and not by our cost-free, warm and fuzzy thoughts (cf.Matt 7:21-23, 10:38-39, 16:24-25, 27; Lk 6:47-49, 8:21, 9:23-25, 11:28: 21:19; Jn 3:36, 5:28-29, 6:29 12:25; 14:21; Acts 5:32, 10:35, 14:22; Rom 2:5-8, 6:16, 11:22; 2 Cor 5:10; Gal 6:7-8; 2 Thess 1:7-8; Col 1:22-23; Php 2:12, 3:8; Heb 5:9, 10:36-39; Js 1:22, 2:24; 1 Pet 4:17; 2 Pet 2:20-22; Rev 2:10b, 23, 3:5, 21, 22:12.)
This dangerously arrogant and incompetent *False Teacher* - like all such proud and wicked - will now block me from commenting further lest I more fully expose him. 👿

I could care less to block you unless you just start throwing Ad hominem. We can chat. I like the verse references, but I think your point is slightly flawed.
We will be judged, yes. On our actions? Yes. For eternal life? No. The judgments are not what determines your eternal standing with God, but you get to one of those judgments based on whether you believed or did not believe the gospel. Is the gospel free? Yes. But this does not make our life cozy… let us be slaughtered all the day long. Paul didn’t have it “cozy,” yet he understood grace through faith.
You receive eternal life when you believe in Jesus Christ who died, was buried and rose again to pay for all your sins. There is no other metric to determine whether a man is saved.

Oh so you think your ear-tickling ideas re your false *Gospel According to Personal Sacrifice-free, Easy Believism* can actually withstand close scrutiny, and you won't have to disappear me in self-defense post haste? Uh-huh. OK ...
For the moment let's put to one side your spiritually impoverished/impotent "Christian" daughter religion's strategic redefinitions of the pistis word family (G 4100-04) and start with this simple question:
Why would God consider simple-minded credulity a virtue deserving of his greatest rewards, and healthy skepticism a vice that demands his cruelest imaginable punishment?
A sensible answer to *that* one would be appreciated, if you can manufacture one. Thanks.

It just seems dishonest. Please at least represent the view you disagree with correctly.
