  • In this video I fit the side pods that I made in part 4 to my Renault Trafic camper van project. My side pods are now available to purchase.
    The side pods for the long wheelbase right hand drive Renault Trafic/Vauxhall Vivaro and Nissan Primastar are now ready!
    So if you’re thinking of putting the bed width ways and you’re over 5ft 7, you need a set of these pods! No more sleeping diagonally or with your knees bent because these pods increase the width to 6ft 5!
    To order a set:
    Email at jazoakley@endless-road.co.uk
    Phone 01443 841709 9am-5pm Monday-Friday.
    Private message endless_road_vans on Instagram
    Visit our premises in south wales
    From placing an order to receiving a set of pods there is a lead time of around a month as they are hand made and I only have 1 pair of hands at the moment.
    Prices:
    For a set of pods without the fitting kit £590
    Set of pods with fitting kit £625
    You can order with or without a fitting kit. The fitting kit has all the materials to fit a pair, including sealer, primer, bolts, nuts, spacers, gloves and tape etc.
    Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. I’ll be happy to help.
    If you like my content or I’ve helped you out in some way then consider buying me a coffee.

    I am really surprised the van is that wide. The pods are a great idea if you want a fixed bed, although the bed will be high. Look forward to the next.

    Yeh these look spot on! Having the extra width for a bed is perfect as it's a much better use of space than having the bed lengthways and you've got nice options on what to put under the bed too!

    Excellent job. This is the first place anywhere on the net where i managed to find the actual width of a trafic/vivaro MKII. I've been wondering about a sideways bed in one of these for a while. (we are short - 1.64m, 5'4" so I thought would fit, but wasn't sure if that left any insulating space. If the van is 5'11" then that leaves 7cm either side which is just about enough, but it would be comfier with a pod (we wouldn't need both).
    As it happens we've bought a standard R&R+side cupboard vivaro last week (from another Welsh converter) just to try it out. But it's great to know that you have these now as a possibility (although next van will be electric so not a MkII vivaro). Maybe a MkIII.

      Glad I could help. When you’re ready For your next van I should have pods for the mk3 by then too.

    I was susprised they fit with the sliding door. Having the bed width ways is is ideal. Great install mate. Well done!

      @EndlessRoadJaz  6 месяцев назад

      Thank you! Yeah the door rail has to be spaced out a few mm otherwise the door would indeed hit it.

    I like that you put bolts in them. I have never liked the idea of just bonding flares on no matter how good people say the adhesive is.

    Brilliant job. I have a 2008 high roof LWB Vivaro which I put a fixed/sliding double bed width ways at the rear.The width was fine for me and the wife, but the pods would have been a cool bonus. Cheers great video, I'll keep watching and yes I subscribed.

    Great job there chap 👍
    Most of the commercially available pods have external flanges so any bolts or screws would be visible 😟 I much prefer your approach with internal flanges to hide the fixings 😎 I know the commercially available ones are intended to just be glued but I prefer a mechanical fixing as well personally 😎👍
    I use sika ect all the time but I do prefer a belt and braces approach, maybe I'm just old and set in my ways but the amount of repairs I've had to carry out on failed bonded joints leads to me to using the backup of mechanical fixings as well, they don't fail often and when they do it's ni on always due to instalation errors but I just prefer to be safe 🤔

    These look great, have they affected driving the van or fuel economy?

    • @EndlessRoadJaz
      @EndlessRoadJaz  6 месяцев назад

      Thanks. I haven’t done any kind of testing for that and to be honest the differences would be minimal anyway as they weigh less than the metal cut out and don’t poke out as much as the wing mirrors anyway.
