    The light blocks are nice but often don't work well with a large canopy type light fixture. Very informative video. Thank you.

    Nice install on the water hose block. Another 2 inches lower and you could get a hose on there.

    Did anyone catch that the j block for the garden hose was upside down?!?! You want more space on the lower side to allow for more space for the garden hose to he able to attach!!! I also LOVE there taps at the end like they help...

    11:00 spigot block installed upside down. Wrong, now garden hose tightening nut will rub. They did the same thing to my house.

      The split boxes was installed correct. Maybe all the vinyl siding manufactures need to redesign them

    • @Carpenters_Canvas
      @Carpenters_Canvas 5 лет назад +2

      it may have been installed correctly because the top overlapped the bottom but I would have installed it upside down for that very reason , you really don't need that much space above the spigot . I saw allot more wrong on this video then I expected , for example when they did the j up the wall they installed it wrong the top piece actually went inside the bottom , however this siding is designed to leak and it will leek so take precaution when installing underlayment . I never understood why would you want vinyl siding if it is designed to leak ? its cheap and fast is the answer , lol

    Is it possible to caulk the mitered seams with say Big Stretch caulk to clean them up on locations close to the ground?

    • @tittyrino
      @tittyrino 6 лет назад +2

      You should never caulk vinyl miters.Make clean cuts and wrap them to last.Any caulk will fade or get dirty and look like crap..

    I like the trim pieces. The thing I hate about vinyl siding is seeing the j channels

    thanks for the wonderful video. I am planning to install vinyl siding on one side of my attached garage wall, which was covered with plywood and painted on top, now the plywood is no good anymore. I wonder if I isntall vinyl siding on top, do I need to completely remove the old plywood?
    Also, shall I install some special water/insulation paper before installing vinyl siding?
    many thanks

    how to make a cut when an outside corner meets a slopped roof.

  • @Bellerose1754

    When you do the mitred corners on the lineals, are they supposed to fit together perfectly or have a small opening? I have a small opening and can'tseem to get it to close up no matter how I try to trim it to fit.

      Honestly I would call those lineal garbage, every install I have ever seen its 50/50 on weather they can get them tight. Even if they are at the time of install, the manufacture spec states they will expand/contract with temperature, so it might look fine in winter, and be gaped in summer.

    Is the overlapping J channel cut reversed? It shows the top piece fitting into the bottom vs over the bottom, like done with the outside corner. Over is better for keeping the water out.

      yes it is and it is wrong, leaks waiting to happen , also don't cut off the nailing flanges when making a corner , I saw allot wrong in this video , allot

    Instead of vinyl lineals, put a 1×4 or whatever you'd like around window. Then bend you're own lineal with channel in it with aluminum. Looks way better when done correct.

    First part doesn't make sense. Find the bottom of sheeting and subtract a quarter inch and chaulk a line? Huh?

    Hate using undersil I do all remodel work n u never have perfect walls to work with n undersil will conture to the wall so what we do is use scrap pieces on siding to fur it our n then snap the last pice of siding to the j- channel

    • @andrewkriek7666
      @andrewkriek7666 3 года назад

      I have used undersil in J to push my siding against the J if its to close to the lap in the middle. Use your tab punch as well to make a tab, and your J will hold it like your undersil. Crossing the lap is just a game over...
