We do this stuff all the time in akathists, have you ever prayed an akathist to the Theotokos? We ask her to have mercy on the patriarchs etc. idk why you think you’re an elder or something

How lovely and humble St. Paisios dared to 'slander' his own reputation (what amazing humility) to test the boy. I can't imagine why he would think to do that, but he did. And he himself was amazed at what the child in goodness seemed to do naturally.
I would love to know if he told the boy who he was.
He might have not told him..
But the boy benefitted greatly from from talking . St. Paisios in any case..
Honestly, even a saint like St. Paisios would find himself benefitted by the prayers of such a child.
I have been thinking about this for several days now..

Prayer with intention to make your sins known will lead to the sins to start being revealed to you
Make sure you totally trust the process and have no doubt. God will not abandon those who look for Him

That would be the Pharisees saying that Jesus was doing his miracles through demons. They weren’t joking. They were seriously saying that God was evil and a devil. Joking about God is not that. Joking about God is blasphemy though, we can’t mock God ever.

It's always discomforting for me when I hear tales of a saint deceiving someone, even if only temporarily. I would like to hear the reasoning for doing such things, honestly. Perhaps I am being scrupulous, but I'm curious about the purpose nonetheless.

I believe, in this case, it was an attempt to avoid pride/vainglory, and maybe preventing the kid from thinking the blessings come from him. If he gave himself a bad name, he would quell people's enthusiasm toward him and look for someone else. Quelling his own pride and keeping himself from taking glory and attention away from God. After all, it's not like his prayers or blessings absolutely must be done in a particular manner in order for them to work. He would still be able to pray for the kid.

    1. is this lie to a boy is not a sin?
    2. 1.47 " whatever I told him, he accepted w good thoughts". ACCEPTED? did the boy accept or reject ( the made-up slander) with good thoughts as the matter of fact?
    3. what is the morale of the story? is it when always believe a husband/good friend won't betray/cheat when was told by other who witnessed ?
