As an older Grace fan I'd say she is transitioning into a fine young adult. You see it in her music, the maturity in her lyrics and singing style and you hear it in her velvet-y smooth voice. Great reaction, I agree with much of what you said.

Paul McCartney told James Cordin he used to use the bathroom, in the beginning, when he was showing James his old home. I know there are people who truthfully don't care for her voice. It's like saying you don't like pizza. I simply can't understand that, it does not compute. This was just heaven. Once more, like you, please Grace, please, a cover album. There's no one like Grace. ever.

Dax and Barbara: One of those people is my wife. In the many discussions we have had about this, I have come away with two understandings that make sense, at least to me. Her musical training includes choir and in choir you DO NOT sing with a breathy voice. That is of course what Grace usually does that is part of what we love about her voice. Second, and this came as a surprise to me, my wife really doesn't care about music any more. She really doesn't, even though she has for most of her life. But I am here to tell you, she is an amazing person! I mean she puts up with me, even says she loves/likes me. Go figure.
Neil Mikesell actually I’d all but given up on music till Grace came along. It is somewhat annoying when family members don’t get her. Grace makes me want to share her with the world for sure.
@@barbaracastille2149 If it weren't for Mark Knopfler (from Dire Straits) and all his new music, I would have said the same. And indirectly, he helped me find Grace. (I was looking up the latest from him on you tube and Grace's AGT performances came up in my suggested videos.) But now, trying to talk about Grace to almost anyone, except my wife, has become a hassle. Why would I be so enthusiastic about some KID? And then there's the stereo type innuendo that I have to put up with (69 yo man 16 yo girl). And saying I'm a retired teacher doesn't help because the stereo type extends there as well. All I can do is keep saying the truth, that in my 60+ years of loving music, there's no one like Grace, ever!
Until someone posts an AGT vid I've almost forgotten little precocious Grace of that world. Today's 16 year old is a stunningly beautiful young lady with an equally developed voice. What a treasure!
When she sings with closed eyes, Grace in an other world, another time... That could explain why she can do songs from any periods even though she still young!!! Thanks for sharing Dax.

Someone may have mentioned this before, Swimming is the name of the album that the song is on, the actual name of the song is "Come Back to Earth". I didn't know that either, another Grace fan pointed that out for me.
Ulysses was tempted by the seductive songs of the Sirens in Homer's Odyssey. He had his shipmates tie him to the mast of his ship so he could resist their bewitching songs. Ulysses was very fortunate that Grace VanderWaal was not a Siren! If Grace had been an ancient Siren, I am sure Ulysses would have broken free from the mast and flew straight into her arms! This cover was spellbindingly beautiful! The great singer/songwriter Townes Van Zandt famously said that there are two kinds of American music: the blues and "zippity-du-da." Townes was speaking of the blues as a state of mind rather than as a specific arrangement of musical notes. Ever since Grace covered Leon Bridges' "River," if not before, Grace has been about that special blues state of mind. This achingly slow, ravishingly beautiful, and very bluesy addition to Grace's musical repertoire swept me off my feet! Your reaction was very helpful and deeply appreciated! I especially liked your discussion of the extraordinary way Grace layered in the drums and background vocals! I can't wait for your next Grace reaction!
Movies, Music, Photography ... No, Paul, I threw all those players away probably 10 years ago or more. Have been buying all my movies and music through Apple and Amazon and other places since.

I bought a recorder USB 3.0 (power and data in a single USB cable) on ebay, and I think it cost me about € 15. Btw Dax.... if you look for Mac Miller's original, the song is "COME BACK to EARTH"
