When we humans get older (I am in my 50s now) there's a thing that happens where the world makes less and less sense. Things change for seemingly no reason, and you tend to become frustrated and angry about it. Rice made it clear she was thinking about what would happen if you could live for many lifetimes, until nothing around you made sense anymore and just seemed stupid. In the book many vampires after a few centuries literally just bury themselves in the ground as a way to retreat from the world. Louis' special power was adaptability.
To add to this, the girls power was seduction, even though she was a child. She could bend the will of almost all around her, Lestat included, hence how she was able to attempt to kill him.

I'm sure that, at some point, some clever writer / filmmaker will find a new and different angle to approach the timeless legend of the vampire that speaks to their generation in an interesting way. And then they will be the new benchmark which others will attempt to emulate.....
Lestat seemed "immortal", because he had drank the blood of the first vampire, Akasha (queen of the damned), before he met Louis. So he had become strong by this point of his life.
32:55 you got it.. every vampire has some sort of gift that gets tuned up (similar to Twilight), so Claudia can't exactly read minds, iirc, but she gets good or bad "vibes" from people, where as L'estat can read minds.. Louie was given Empathy.. likely due to his misfortune as a human and the suffering he went through losing his family. and apparently Empathy is a very rare gift to have in this world. Great movie! xoxo oh and btw.. as far as Christian Slater asking to become a Vampire... he DID know what he was asking for b/c he just heard Louie's terrible, horrible, full of suffering with loss of Claudia.. harming so many people.. he felt like a monster. So it was a slap in the face for Louie to hear Christian Slater to ask to become a Vampire and why Louie freaked out saying "not again".. the whole point was to express how horrible immortality was under Vampire conditions.
18:22 "Thirty years had passed, yet her body remained that of an eternal child." But _mentally,_ she had grown _up._ Rendering someone forever young may _seem_ like an attractive notion, but take some care about their age when you _do_ it, because forever prepubescent _sucks._
Louis is supposed to be the most ‘human’ out of all the vampires. He has great empathy and remorse. It’s a little hard to explain but I think he treasures human life a little more than the rest which causes him plain. Other vampires find that interesting and with lestat and Armand it attracted them.
Yes. Louis has a conscience, and the others don't. He still has some Humanity left, whereas all the other vampires are just mindless creatures with no purpose in life.
@@Stogie2112 Tbf, according to following novels, Louis is a bit of a hollier than thou hypocrite since he's the narrator of the first novel, he paints himself better while adding more flaws to Lestat!!!
@@anaemiliaalmeida7238 .... Indeed, the next novel, "The Vampire Lestat" is directly from Lestat's point of view. He challenges Louis's story with his own version of what happened. Both novels are great.
Yeah even other vampires say how human he is, some of the really old ones say hes not much different than a living human in their eyes. "Barely a vampire"
Probably the best film of director Neil Jordan. 2 years before he directed The Crying game (1992), an interesting story that takes a surprising turn after 30 minutes 😉
Lestat kept himself alive by feeding on the alligators/other animals at the swamp. But this blood would not fully heal him like human blood would, plus the modern world scared him. That's why he looks that way. I don't quite remember if he feeds off Louie during his visit or just if he just starts healing from finally wandering out and feeding on human blood (I mean the way it happens in the book). It's a few more decades between 'the visit' and when Louie has his interview. Lestat had plenty of time to heal. It's hard to remember which way it happens. In the book series, when you feed off another vampire you absorb their memories / knowledge and become more powerful. Feeding off the ancient ones is a big deal, but mostly in other books. A lot of people are confused about Lestat, but it's just so hard to explain all the little details from the books.... There's so much!
Lestat travelled to Paris and he told the coven about his attempted murder. He asked for Armand's blood so he could gain strength and heal faster. Armand gave it to him... and then yeeted him off a roof. 😅
A fun fact is in one of the books Lestat does try to kill himself. He lays in the middle of the Sahara. Unfortunately, as a newborn vampire he accidentally drank the blood of the Queen of all vampires and a couple ancients. So the Sahara sun came and went and Leatat woke up charred black, slept it off and got a tan. Lestat was also the original owner of the Theater of Vampires in Paris, he gave the place to Armand when he left Paris. Armand was also supposed to be a 16 year old Russian boy, so he originally empathized with Claudia in the books despite their differences. Last tidbit is Armand didn't make Lestat. Lestat was turned by a solitary ancient who kidnapped him for his strength in taking down a wolf pack alone, drained him, made him drink, drained him again, for a full night or back and forth transfers before jumping into a bonfire laughing. So Lestat was left alone going what the hell just happened.
Hey girlz, virtual hug! 😊 U were curious about who created Lestat. In the book "The Vampire Lestat", Lestat's maker, I think his name was Magnus, was a very old vampire that had gone mad. He was drawn to Lestat. Lestat was the youngest son of a nobleman who was abusive toward Lestat & his mother. Being the youngest son, he wasn't going to inherit anything. When Lestat tells Louis "I am giving u the choice I never had.", he means it. Magnus turned Lestat because he wanted to pass on his "dark gift"& whatever riches he had before killing himself by jumping into a giant fire. He never explained anything to Lestat nor gave him a choice. So, Lestat traveled the world looking for answers. That's why Louis' questions about vampires & his origin upset him so much. During Lestat's travels, he met Armand & his coven of vampires. Armand actually tried to kill Lestat for breaking their rules. He was amazed @ how strong Lestat was for being a young vampire. In this vampire world, the older the vampire is that turns u, the stronger u will be. By the way, in the books, Armand is forever 17. Louis' gift/curse was not reading minds. It was having his humanity intact after being turned. Although Kirsten Dunst was quite young when she played Claudia, the Claudia in the books was 5yrs old when she was turned. Claudia died because Lestat contacted Armand & told him what she tried to do. Armand feeling he owed Lestat executed Claudia, plus they had rules about creating an immortal child. U know, throughout most vampire stories, especially during the mid to late 1800s vampires were seen as sexual & sensual seductors. The vampire is forever looking for that companion to accompany them in the darkness. Anyway, this was a great reaction.😊👍 See u girlz on the next.
Just Want to clarify, Lestat's maker's name is Marius, a very ancient vampire. Lestat owned the theater in Paris but gave it to the vampires there. He didn't want to be around them
@@jannaromine5908no, Lestats maker in the book was Magnus, just like the original comment said. The only thing they left out about Magnus is that he was a sorcerer who captured and imprisoned a vampire in order to steal his blood and gain vampire powers and immortality. The movie Queen of the Damned changed Lestats maker to Marius, who actually made Armand in the book.
Oh, and regardless of what he tells Louis, Armand is a child compared to quite a few other vampires in the books. Like an order of magnitude older than 400 years.
This is from Anne Rice's first book in the series. The next one, "Queen Of The Damn" is based on the next two books but are in LeStat's own words. He becomes a huge rock star that other vampires want to kill. Check it out.

This was the first book of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. Superb series. Highly recommend reading them. You get the vampire origin story and much more. Unfortunately they did not make a movie sequel with the same cast. The movie Queen of Damned is not bad, just not as good as this one. The AMC series is a new interpretation and so far is pretty good. I would also recommend a companion series on the Mayfair Witches. The first book for that one is The Witching Hour. AMC is doing a series on those books as well. Again, it is so far an excellent series.
@@anaemiliaalmeida7238 I am aware that they do not follow the books. You could say that the books are an inspiration for the AMC series. Viewed within that context, it is entertaining.
Probably somebody told you already but Lestat could not read thoughts from Louis and Claudia because they are vampires created by him. Also older and stonger vampires have the ability to close their mind to unexpected visitors.
Great reaction 😄👍 I absolutely love this movie. Showing a tragic story that shows vampirism for what it really is, a nightmare. Something you don't want. But the interviewer, like most people, interprets it as a gift and begs for it. So amazing 👏 👏 Queen of the damned would be a great follow-up reaction 🧛♀️ 👑
Theirs a sequel to this y'all might like, its called Queen of the Damned. It has the Lastat character played by a different actor and Aaliyah as the Queen.
Virtual Hug ❤ I think if you believe in an afterlife, you probably wouldn't choose to become a vampire. If you don't believe in an afterlife, you'd probably choose to become a vampire so you could live forever. Love you two ❤
I highly recommend "Bram Stoker's Dracula" (1992). It's a great thriller, with graphic vampire behavior, sex, and a centuries-long love story. Starring Gary Oldman, Winona Ryder, Anthony Hopkins, Keanu Reeves, and Cary Elwes (As you wish!)
If you want a movie about Claudia, there is one that is close to that theme. One of the newest vampire movies is called "Abigail" 2024, it is about a young girl vampire. And it's just her and several humans, and the horrible things she comes up with, to feed... No Brad or Tom to influence her, or as a romantic interest. If you want more of the Claudia romantic story there is the Netflix “Interview With The Vampire”, but she's aged up to about 16, so the romantic stuff isn't quite as creepy.
Imo one of the greatest vampire movies ever made. The director, Neil Jordan (check out more of his movies) made another great vampire movie, ''Byzantium'' (2012).
Greyworm from Game of Thrones plays Louis in the tv series! I haven't seen it yet but I heard its good. The Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles are amazing of course! Not like Twilight vampires. No sparkly ones 😊
Loved that film back in the day upon its release. Love it still and here for it again, now. Love you two girls. Really like your cool style. See ya on the next. Big shoutout from East Tennessee. U.S.A. Later.
Lestat is complicated - he's exceptionally powerful because of who created him (not Armand, the vampire committed suicide immediately after. Also why Lestat got angry talking about him) and a relationship/connection he had with the first vampire, Akasha. More or less why its harder to kill him and why he's much more attuned to other people's thoughts. He also specifically picked Louis because Louis reminded him of his lover, Nicholas. Who also committed suicide not too long after becoming a vampire
I saw this film when it came out. Brad Pitt as Louis de Pointe du Lac was my 2nd crush. By calculation, I was 7y/o. Vampire Media I recommend watching: TV: the Vampire Diaries & its sequel the Originals (better), True Blood, Hemlock Grove, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Moonlight. Films: Underworld Series (my fav), Queen of the Damned (sequel to Interview w/a Vampire, Dracula Untold, Daybreakers, etc.
The twilight vampires spent hundreds of years in high school and I thought that was creepy but Brad getting played by physco Goldilocks even surpasses that.
Well, I mean, there's the movie (and subsequent series) _What We Do in the Shadows._ It's officially classified as a _comedy/horror,_ because it mainly follows vampires, but it's comedy.
That was a concept they decided to have fun with in _What We Do in the Shadows._ In the TV series, there came an episode in which it was revealed that one of the characters got in serious trouble with the Vampire Council by turning an _infant_ into a vampire. The kid had no teeth, but was supposed to drink _blood?_
You really want to watch different and interesting vampire movies The Hunger(1983) , Dracula Untold (2014), and The Lost Boys (1987) and Only Lovers Left Alive (2013) Love your reactions.
No the reason Lestat didn't die is because he got to drink from the Akasha the first vampire. That how he was able to survive all the time the tried to kill him any other vampire would have been killed from the first time Claudia assassinated him.
I didn't love this movie in 1994, but... That was a time of VERY special movies. It had a lot of competition. For a tiny window of time, there was Forrest Gump, Jurassic Park, Terminator 2, Se7en, Saving Private Ryan, Silence of the Lambs, Dances With Wolves, and so many more. The Anne Rice novels were good, but I didn't think that they translated well to film. ... Still, I'd love to have those films over much of 2024 cinema.

Anne Rice the author came out publicly against the casting of Tom Cruise back before this film was made. Anne Rice thought Tom Cruise wasn't right for the part but Anne Rice finally caved in because of Tom Cruise's superstardom & box office appeal & allowed Tom Cruise to be cast in the film.
With all due respect, that is not true. Anne Rice didn't want Cruise as Lestat, but she didn't have control over the casting. Rice said, "I think John Malkovich could have done it. Peter Weller I thought could make an interesting Lestat. Alexander Godunov, who was in Witness. They needed an overpowering person like that, very blond, very tall, very athletic, very full. I think Brad Pitt would be a fabulous Lestat. I tried for a long time to tell them that they should just reverse these roles - have Brad Pitt play Lestat and have Tom Cruise play Louis. Of course, they don't listen to me." After seeing the film, she totally changed her mind about Cruise. She found Cruise's portrayal of Lestat to be excellent. She even called Cruise and told him that she was wrong about him.
@@Stogie2112 That is closer to the truth but not quite correct. Anne Rice wanted Rutger Hauer. And she changed her mind well before the finished product-- Anne was the official screenwriter and she visited the set when they shot outside New Orleans at one point in filming. She had lunch with Tom Cruise dressed as Lestat on set one day and she was charmed by his appearance and she watched him in the dailies for that day. Dailies are the scenes directors view during the making of a film. She changed her mind at that point. Anne felt the finished product was a masterpiece and she took out a large ad in Vanity Fair saying how wrong she was on Cruise. At the premiere in New Orleans, Anne Rice was actually talking to fans about how great Cruise was and she gave many interviews right before the film opened talking about how good Tom Cruise did in the part. And I agree--he is outstanding as Lestat. Fun fact--That really is Tom Cruise playing the piano. He took lessons to improve his skills for the part!
@@Stogie2112 You're right. I personally think Tom Cruise was miscast this is not a movie that anybody ever talks about. In the past saying “my love” didn’t mean what you think. It Wasn’t a sexual love. Peoples minds didn’t automatically assume perverse ideals. lol people were aware of that then.

I'm sure that, at some point, some clever writer / filmmaker will find a new and different angle to approach the timeless legend of the vampire that speaks to their generation in an interesting way. And then they will be the new benchmark which others will attempt to emulate.....
48:01 "So how do you determine who a person _is,_ though?"
Ah. Ryl, that was the right question.
Great movie! xoxo
oh and btw.. as far as Christian Slater asking to become a Vampire... he DID know what he was asking for b/c he just heard Louie's terrible, horrible, full of suffering with loss of Claudia.. harming so many people.. he felt like a monster. So it was a slap in the face for Louie to hear Christian Slater to ask to become a Vampire and why Louie freaked out saying "not again".. the whole point was to express how horrible immortality was under Vampire conditions.
Lestat and Louis cannot read her thoughts because they MADE her. That connection is broken when you sire another vampire.
18:22 "Thirty years had passed, yet her body remained that of an eternal child."
But _mentally,_ she had grown _up._
Rendering someone forever young may _seem_ like an attractive notion, but take some care about their age when you _do_ it, because forever prepubescent _sucks._
I've always said that this is an outstanding movie.
27:06 I've never heard anyone mention The Skin I Live In before! You just blew my mind.
For a totally different vampire movie, check out Blade with Wesley Snipes.
Probably the best film of director Neil Jordan. 2 years before he directed The Crying game (1992), an interesting story that takes a surprising turn after 30 minutes 😉
I saw this at the theater in 94!! Such a classic!!
He didn't want to be around them
@@jannaromine5908 In the movie that was Lestat's maker, not in the book, unless Anne Rice changed her book. U r correct about the vampire theater.
The queen of the dammed staring the late singer Aaliyah is apart of this movie and gets into more details of lastat life and its a good watch
It took a long time for Lestat to heal from being burned.
Check it out.
that one sucks horribly, and not in a good way
@@unclebounce1495everything was fantastic imo except the screenplay. Unfortunately, that is a major part of rhe movie. I think those that have not read the books would enjoy it.
@@unclebounce1495 As a stand alone movie, it was pretty good. Good music and atmosphere and fair acting. Fun watch.
Yeah, the books lost me at violin-playing rock star.
@@sadfaery i hope you give it another shot. The Vampire Lestat->Queen of the Damned is very well done.
Are you serious??? The AMC series suck, it has nothing to do with the novels!!!!!
@@anaemiliaalmeida7238 I am aware that they do not follow the books. You could say that the books are an inspiration for the AMC series. Viewed within that context, it is entertaining.
@@anaemiliaalmeida7238as someone who loves the books and this movie, I think the AMC series is great. I can't wait for the second season.
Try Meet Joe Black!!! Or Legends of the Fall
I really need you guys to react to the AMC Interview with the Vampire series! It tells the full story of Louis and Lestat's relationship
Probably somebody told you already but Lestat could not read thoughts from Louis and Claudia because they are vampires created by him. Also older and stonger vampires have the ability to close their mind to unexpected visitors.
You guys should watch the 2022 show of interview with the vampire! It’s so good
Great reaction 😄👍
I absolutely love this movie. Showing a tragic story that shows vampirism for what it really is, a nightmare. Something you don't want. But the interviewer, like most people, interprets it as a gift and begs for it. So amazing 👏 👏
Queen of the damned would be a great follow-up reaction 🧛♀️ 👑
Theirs a sequel to this y'all might like, its called Queen of the Damned. It has the Lastat character played by a different actor and Aaliyah as the Queen.
Virtual Hug ❤
I think if you believe in an afterlife, you probably wouldn't choose to become a vampire. If you don't believe in an afterlife, you'd probably choose to become a vampire so you could live forever.
Love you two ❤
I would gladly become one now, for love
I have to say. Armand saying he’s the oldest he know the doesn’t mean he’s the original, he just believes that those who were older than him are dead.
I think that you two might be my favorite reaction to this: one of my most beloved movies.
😮 oooh this was so the hot topic when it came out 😊 thanks!
Hi Ladies😊👍
This is certainly a reaction I can sink my teeth into..🤣👍
lol 😆
Great reaction. You should watch Fright Night, Near Dark and Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
Imo one of the greatest vampire movies ever made. The director, Neil Jordan (check out more of his movies) made another great vampire movie, ''Byzantium'' (2012).
I think nowadays it would be super easy to find willing blood donors so you wouldn't have to hunt and kill for your blood as a modern vampire.
New subscriber, here! I love your movie selection and can’t wait to watch more of your content. Sending love to you and yours from Orlando, Florida.
❤️❤️
Vegetarian vampire 😂 I’m dead!! I love your reacts.
😂😂💜
It turns out that you can get blood out of a turnip.
Greyworm from Game of Thrones plays Louis in the tv series! I haven't seen it yet but I heard its good. The Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles are amazing of course! Not like Twilight vampires. No sparkly ones 😊
As far as aesthetically pleasing vampire movies go, I recommend Only Lovers Left Alive.
Loved that film back in the day upon its release. Love it still and here for it again, now. Love you two girls. Really like your cool style. See ya on the next. Big shoutout from East Tennessee. U.S.A. Later.
💜💜
I hope you watch the series too! The first episode for season 2 just came out so it's perfect time to start watching!
Would love to see ypu react to the new series. S2 comes out soon. You could catch up no problem.
Every good Vampire 🧛♂️ movie,I Saw 👀 this movie in the theater bad in the day. Film in New Orleans.
Interesting
Dracula; "Blah Blah Blah"
👍😂🤣😅😅
It would be my fondest wish to be a Vampire. It's the one sure way I could save my wife from all her illnesses
Best vampire movie ever. There's no debate
It seems that Claudia to an extend could hide her thoughts from other vampires.
Ohhh nice 👍🏾
I highly recommend AMC's Interview with the Vampire tv series. It is fantastic! 😊
yesss! cant wait to watch you queens watch this!
39:24 The side-eye!
I’m glad I found this channel, can’t wait to watch your other content. Forest Gump is qued next.
I saw this film when it came out. Brad Pitt as Louis de Pointe du Lac was my 2nd crush. By calculation, I was 7y/o.
Vampire Media I recommend watching:
TV: the Vampire Diaries & its sequel the Originals (better), True Blood, Hemlock Grove, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Moonlight.
You really want to watch different and interesting vampire movies The Hunger(1983) , Dracula Untold (2014), and The Lost Boys (1987) and Only Lovers Left Alive (2013) Love your reactions.
yall HAVE to watch the AMC tv adaptation! season 1 was so good and season 2 is dropping May 12th!
"Innocent Blood" (1992) is a fun, sexy vampire comedy.
Great reaction guys you should also checkout tv show version of this
You should catch Kirsten Dunst in "Marie Antoinette"
While it's true we can survive on the blood of animals, it's quite bitter compared to the sweet blood of humans.
19:13 I'd scream like that as well if I was stuck with that goofy hair do for eternity.
You have to decapitate, burn in the sun, destroy their heart of a vampire.... that's why Lestat did not die
Thank you!
The movie industry nowadays is dead!!!!
You girls should check out
"The Hunger" 1983 another very stylised Vampire Movie 😉
Queen of the Damned next. R.I.P. Aaliyah
Have you seen "What We Do In The Shadows"? 2014 movie and the TV Series? Taika Waititi (who made Jojo Rabbit) Vampire comedy.
I agree Claudia was horrible & cruel, but Kirstin Dunst performance was amazing👏🏻
As book reader i think Tom Cruise portrayed Lestat perfectly
@JynxRyl, I highly recommend the "Blade" trilogy, starring Wesley Snipes. One of the best vampire hero movie series ever.
THIS A CLASSIC VAMPIRE 🦇 MOVIE BEAUTIFUL FINE QUEENZ 👑👑♥️♥️♥️ LOVE YALL REACTION I THINK BLADE IS THE BEST VAMPIRE MOVIE EVER BEAUTIFUL LADIES ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
From my life, I would choose me at age 28 1/2. I had one summer where I looked and felt my best. 😆
Of course, they don't listen to me."
After seeing the film, she totally changed her mind about Cruise. She found Cruise's portrayal of Lestat to be excellent. She even called Cruise and told him that she was wrong about him.
As I recall, she really wanted Rutger Hauer (of Blade Runner fame).
@@jsurace Yes, there is a graphic novel made of this book which I have where the artist makes Lestat look like Rutger.
I think Anne Rice changed her tune because of pressure from the studios & the Tom Cruise loving public. I think Anne Rice caving & calling Tom Cruise was lip service. I read all of her books & Tom Cruise wasn't even on my remote list of actors to play LeStat. The movie to me is ok. LOL !
In the past saying “my love” didn’t mean what you think. It Wasn’t a sexual love. Peoples minds didn’t automatically assume perverse ideals. lol people were aware of that then.
Now u gotta check out “Queen of the Damned”
🧛♀️🧛♀️🧛♀️🧛♀️🧛♀️🧛♀️
The Vampire Diaries and The Originals are both dope vamp shows
When I heard they were making this movie I thought they would give the role of Lestat to someone like Val Kilmer first pick or Keifer Sutherland or even Rutger Hauer. I also thought Cruise would have played the role of Louie if they were going to use him. Anne Rice wanted Julian Sands for the role of Lestat.
If you ladies react to TV shows there is an interview with the vampire on AMC, its phenomenal 👏 2022 season 2 will start may 12, 2024
