@@BlckSWANWhtRbbt Or whatever _Project Rene_ ends up being called. I'm still not convinced it'll be "The Sims 5," my money is on a soft reboot of the franchise.
@@LGR My guess is it will be a soft reboot like you say but as something closer to a live service style game - New expansions, etc will instead be free updates and the main revenue stream will be people paying the upfront cost of buying the game alongside a storefront selling new content for the game ala The Sims 3's store. More than likely the updates will have a relative lack of content to make use of the new features with the idea being that you instead buy that content on the storefront, although I have little doubt the community will step in so you can easily just wait a month or two and get a load of modder-made content for free instead. The whole expansion thing as EAxis does it currently is a bit of a weakness with the competition coming out to be honest, assuming Paradox does a Cities Skylines-style DLC release schedule for their game then I can see an approach like I've theorised above actually giving EAxis a leg up.
@@terryberry38 Specifically, the gurus have said it's _"the next generation Sims game and creative platform.”_ Read their wording carefully :) They specifically have not said "The Sims 5" or anything like that. The team has been quite careful, yet vague, in all of their descriptions and phrasing. It will almost certainly be the fifth mainline Sims game, but I just don't know that it will be specifically be called The Sims 5. I personally feel they may go for a soft reboot of the series to start "fresh" and not have the baggage of being a sequel, exactly. I can see them calling it "Sims" or even "The Sims" again, theoretically resetting the stage and introducing a new online-focused simming platform for content to be added to over the next decade or so. It certainly falls in line with the current trends of game design and monetization, both at EA and other big publishers. They've also described how a big focus of Project Rene is to allow other players online to drop in and out of your game at will, and that you go from playing on your PC to playing on a phone seamlessly. So while I'm admittedly reading between the lines, it kinda feels more like a reboot/refresh of the series rather than a straight-up sequel to The Sims 4.
I've felt the same way. I did find another guy on here named rekowcski who's on a similar track, he's just a little more... blunt about the lack of positive comparison between TS4 and previous games.

Most of it should. I'll give example of CiV V, they had Religion and Trade Route on two separate expansion. When civ vi rolled out, they were integrated to base game since the devs is not as crazy as sims dev to sell the same thing twice, just in differrent graphic.
The thing that got me the most excited about this new pack/update is that social interactions are now grouped by subcategories. Like, if I want my Sim to hug someone, I don't have to click through like 6-7 pages of friendly interactions anymore; now it's just Friendly > Affection > Hug.
@@Paramore_your_Decode Yes, but mind you, it's neither a CAS wearable nor a Build Mode object; it works similar to umbrellas, in that you select and use them through options while in Live Mode. Then, to use the back carrier, click on your infant, then select "Baby Care > Put [Infant's name] in Back Carrier".
@@Paramore_your_Decode Yeah, the free update is *very* barebones... it just adds a basic bed for infants, and that's it. They already announced The Sims 5. It's a few years out though
@@BlckSWANWhtRbbt Or whatever _Project Rene_ ends up being called. I'm still not convinced it'll be "The Sims 5," my money is on a soft reboot of the franchise.
always online microtransaction heavy i can see it now.
@@terryberry38 Specifically, the gurus have said it's _"the next generation Sims game and creative platform.”_ Read their wording carefully :)
They specifically have not said "The Sims 5" or anything like that.
LGR you hold a place in my childhood memories from the sims 3 days,, it's always great to see you upload
Glad that you’ve stuck around!
Clint is the only one whose Sims review I take seriously. I never feel like he's been bought out.
I've felt the same way. I did find another guy on here named rekowcski who's on a similar track, he's just a little more... blunt about the lack of positive comparison between TS4 and previous games.

An LGR Sims review? It's been 83 years...
LGR I appreciate you and your reviews after all of these years. Still my favorite to watch when new games come out
Happy to hear it :)
For having been around in 23 years, I am amazed how little progress The Sims have made. I mean progress have been made but...
Could say the same for gaming as a whole. Feel like weve been on the same gen since 2012
why make new thing when current thing prints money
I'm more amazed how people are hyping this and not more upset about a pay wall for gameplay that was free in base games in last two games
Sims 2 and 3 were both noticeable progressions over their predecessor. Sims 4 was a regression.
@@SuperTed. Oneof the main reasons is because of the CPU limitations, games are still being developed to run on the garbage jaguar-AMD cpu from the PS4 and Xbox One. This is not responsible to 100% of the stagnation but it's a major reason.

I love the idea of a sim leaving behind a pill bottle and apple for their family to stew over after they die.
Been watching you for years this is how I decide which packs I want to buy, since Sims 3. THANK YOU for your detailed reviews and the time you take out to edit.

I mostly picture the sims with Graystillplays.
thank you for being incredibly transparent with your reviews.
It is insane how much stuff the sims community should be putting into base game (social systems, mid life crisis, CHANGING TABLES….) but somehow continues to be forced behind a $40 paywall. Dine out still can’t work unless you use a mod. The Sims 4 really is the biggest disappointment of the Sims franchise.

Me too LOL
It's good to see people actually playing Sims, unlike me who is perpetually stuck in build mode.
Oh same. They nailed build mode in TS4, but I cannot bring myself to actually play. The itch is scratched by TS2 and 3 where I can build and l play!
Sims 4 just a building/interior design sim at this point. I have a feeling sims 5 will be ever more like that as well sadly.
I’ve been coming to you for every pack review since TS3. Thank you for what you do
Thanks for continuing to watch, glad you’ve stuck around!
The family dynamics should be in the base game tbh
Most of it should. I'll give example of CiV V, they had Religion and Trade Route on two separate expansion. When civ vi rolled out, they were integrated to base game since the devs is not as crazy as sims dev to sell the same thing twice, just in differrent graphic.
you make it quick and honest. Huge Respect!!
The thing that got me the most excited about this new pack/update is that social interactions are now grouped by subcategories. Like, if I want my Sim to hug someone, I don't have to click through like 6-7 pages of friendly interactions anymore; now it's just Friendly > Affection > Hug.
Does back carrier come with this expansion?
@@Paramore_your_Decode Yes, but mind you, it's neither a CAS wearable nor a Build Mode object; it works similar to umbrellas, in that you select and use them through options while in Live Mode.

I have been waiting for this review and I'm not disappointed by the honesty. The social interactions and milestones should have been a free base game update. This pack is also not as fleshed out as Generations, but that's what I've come to expect with TS4.
