- Gameplay and overview of the THIRTEENTH expansion pack to The Sims 4. This time it's all about fleshing out how sims interact and evolve over each life state. Treehouses to build, infants to parent, bikes to ride, milestones and quirks to unlock... Is it worth the $40 price tag? Let's see!

With all of this stuff coming out its a pretty exciting time for long time simmers.
Clint is the only one whose Sims review I take seriously. I never feel like he's been bought out.
I've felt the same way. I did find another guy on here named rekowcski who's on a similar track, he's just a little more... blunt about the lack of positive comparison between TS4 and previous games.
@@tegandetermann3299 there's other simmers that I enjoy but for some reason their reviews I just can't trust. Is that weird?
@@thechandraraj6415 Not at all. Particularly with the smaller more positive channels. "Game Changer" status is always a potential that could unintentionally influence what the say in a review, even if you like their video style. At least, that's how I feelm
@@tegandetermann3299 i trust game changers opinion on sims packs about 3 weeks later, especially Plumbella, her first video on a pack is always positive, but as time goes on the more videos she releases, she gets more and more honest, by then she's ripping EA a new one for all the shit they do
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Clint actually did have some sort of partnership with EA for a while related to his Sims videos, but then they actually dropped him for not kissing their ass.
How many years has it been of LGR reviewing Sims stuff? It is amazing that he continues to do them and still being as entertaining, just, kudos to you man, you are one of a kind.

thank you for being incredibly transparent with your reviews.
It is insane how much stuff the sims community should be putting into base game (social systems, mid life crisis, CHANGING TABLES….) but somehow continues to be forced behind a $40 paywall. Dine out still can’t work unless you use a mod. The Sims 4 really is the biggest disappointment of the Sims franchise.
Just started playing the Sims Medieval again instead of buying this. Man I forgot what a COMPLETE basegame was like.
Medieval was better that it had any right to be.
Medieval fucking SLAPS 👏👏
Tell me about Sims Medieval - I'm interested now.
@@DiscoTimelordASD Clint has a review on this very channel, check that out - he will explain it better than I ever could.
@@DiscoTimelordASD Like Sims 3 but with quests/storylines. You play different heroes (monarch, bard, physician, etc) with different daily responsibilities and expand the world every time you finish a quest. The writing is fantastic, very funny and very detailed! Clearly a lot of care put into the world and the storyline 🙌
I can't describe how happy I am to see more LGR Sims reviews. I've been watching for over a decade! They are always superbly entertaining 🤩
Do you plan to cover Life By You? Literally one of my first thoughts when I saw the trailer was, "Ooh, I hope this brings LGR back to the life sim reviews."
Ugh, Paralives and Life by you can't come soon enough. Thanks for the quality review as always.
You have NO idea how much I love your reviews and how fast I clicked the notification! Good to hear from you Clint ❤
Thanks for watching, I’m glad they still manage to excite :)
I just wanted to say, I've been watching these reviews for years. You are my go-to. Thank you for all the honesty and laughs ❤😊
Me too LOL
LGR, please don't stray from continuing making Sims reviews. I've been watching you since Sims 3 came out and have watched every Sims video you've made. I've been an OG fan of the series since the beginning and you really capture and understand the magic, nostalgia, and heart of the games. I beg of you to do a more in depth review of each expansion pack of Sims 1 and 2. Perhaps in a style of "was it as good as I remembered?". Nothing would make me happier cherishing the original games along with you. Thank you for you unbiased opinions, your humor, and your patience to continue making reviews on the Sims 4. I came to your channel because of the Sims, but goodness I love your other game and tech reviews. You're the best!
Idk man this pack has really been a game changer for me. I feel like I spent $40 to actually get a playable game here, instead of nearly every other pack which jangles some keys at me but leaves the core gameplay lacking.
I started up my game, picked the best friend of my usual legacy sim to plop down in the new world. Built a house, liked the new objects. Then I start to play. my legacy sim calls and asks if her family can come stay bc they are in a bind. I say sure. She comes over and she and her husband (who were sort of on the rocks when I last played them just because I neglected their relationship) they started arguing, and it erupted into a fight! I had my sim yell at the husband and comfort her bff, her bff asked to move in! So I had the bff and her 3 daughters move in. Bff broke up with the husband, and promptly started a mid life crisis. The girls all have complicated dynamics with their dad, who asks for them to come visit but still sends mean messages to their mom. Their whims seem much improved, milestones give in game consequences for big moments.. and I haven’t had a chance to look at infants yet with all the chaos going on.
I’m very happy to finally have had a moment with this game that felt alive, not just me prodding my hapless dolls into different little plays that they neither reacted to nor remembered later. Sucks I had to wait a frogging decade and pay through the nose, but I’m happy I’m finally able to say I had an enjoyable time in live mode.
Oh my god the Thomas Dolby reference caught me off guard...LOL!
I really really really appreciate you reviewing this pack. I know you're over the sims 4 so I appreciate the time you took to do this!!
I can not wait for life by you. with pardox style events and the massive moding/developer sdk coming out on launch it will be a big day.
Ah brilliant! Another LGR Sims pack review to add to my monthly playlist. I don't know why your content is so satisfying to listen to, but it just is, even if I know what's in it. And of course it's a 100% _necessary_ re-watch when I'm looking for packs to buy. Everything said is there for a reason, it all helps understand the pack and its place in the game, it's perfect.
Looking forward to Life by You, and your spin on things there.
I always look forward to a LGR Sims Review and you didn't let me down, this was a great honest review of the pack 😁😁
...not gonna lie, a lot of what's in the pack really interests me, especially when it comes to the expanded social options and ability to be a nomad. Not $40 interesting, so I'll wait for a sale, but still.
I also wasn't aware of Life by You or Paralives, so thanks for the heads-up on that! Gonna keep an eye out for those.

the full experience of the sims 4 costs over 1000 dollars
I feel like your the only real honest youtuber who tells it like it is when it comes to DLC
All the other Simtubers keep hyping up this pack but It's really so lackluster and just not worth the money. EA will do the bare minimum and people will buy up all their crap. Thanks, LGR, for being one of the few reviewers who keeps it real.
is it good? yeah.. is it $40 dollars good? no... is it a cashgrab? HELL YEAH!
An LGR review of paralives would be amazing. Absolutely
The end (about flavor enhancements) reminds me that you need to make cooking/sandwich videos again!
An awesome, comprehensive assessment as always.
Growing Together's content really feels like it should have been part of the game all along as the logical next steps of the franchise.
Always love your reviews, such in depth information! I also loved the editing in this one, felt really fun and spontaneous. Keep it up LGR

@@LGR I just like your reviews the game sucks
Im hoping for a sale around Christmas. To pick it up as it does fit my playstyle to a t.
Damn. I thought this was going to give you the ability to track kids born out of wedlock. This pack is useless.
Nevermind the fact of everything wrong with EA and the sims team, this pack actually has quite a bit that I wasn't expecting with the social aspect. Again though, they shouldn't have to make separate EPs and SPs for something that should have all been in one or two EPs max.
So glad you're still doing these
This pack has honestly been a game changer for me in the best way, as a predominantly family player. While I too wish that it was as full as Sims 3 generations, for me this was actually worth it (none of the other Sims 4 expansions got me to preorder) because of the added nuances in relationships. It's made me genuinely enjoy the game without feeling cheated, and given I've felt similarly to you about Sims 4, LGR, that brings me great joy. 🥰
Been coming back for years to check out your updates. Also, you bringing up food reminded me to put dinner on! Thanks 😅
I'll never get over how dead every world looks. There's not nearly enough sims walking around.
Even though I haven’t played sims for while, I love watching your reviews they’re so entertaining even when there a lack luster pack/expansion.
And I hop one day Sims will release something new that would blow your mind.
my first lgr sims review i was active during launch.
ah yesss thank you for still reviewing the sims! while the big simmers obv will always do reviews, yours just overlap way more with what i find interesting and good lol. I'm too much of a casual player to really be able to depend on sims yters reviews because their wants and needs for the game are so so different from mine hahah
There is a daycare job, teens can get it as an assistant. And you can do scouts for kids & teens.
Forty WHOLE dollars? Yikes they get away with this expansion packs being the price of actual games. I can't wait for Paralives honestly.
I just need a sims 2 remaster, thank you
Ea must hate you heh. As an adult swimmer in their 30’s I always check your reviews before I consider buying a new ep.
Thank you Clint for your review of this I really appreciate the honesty and the humor.
I trust LGR because he's the most honest reviewer rather than others
The Growing Together Expansion Pack has made The Sims 4 feel more complete in terms of being more realistic and that has made me more addicted to the Sims 4 overall. I am currently on generation 7 of my Not So Berry Challenge play through and I intend to continue my family tree well after I finish the said challenge!
conclusion was amazing.
great vid as always
Can't wait to pirate this and still be at least a little disappointed
I will never stop complaining about the fact growing together should have been a base game update.
The fact that all these features exist in a vacuum is I think the biggest problem. Milestones and Family Dynamics, as well as Lifestyles and Sentiments from Snowy Escape, should all be base-game! They should feed into each other! Family Dynamics should influence the types of Sentiments you get, including more severe negative Sentiments when a Sim you have a strong Dynamic with acts in a way that should feel like a *betrayal*.
These should in term trigger a Milestone that causes Sims to *remember* being betrayed, altering the Family Dynamic and triggering more neutral Sentiments in the future, where a Sim thinks "they are who they are, why should I expect them to change?", this should in turn trigger a Lifestyle where they avoid family gatherings!
This is what The Sims 1 did so well: skills and relationships fed into careers, which in turn gave you more free time to develop your skills/relationships, and greater income to pursue those skills more efficiently. It was a web of interconnected systems! In The Sims 4, nothing is connected to anything else, leaving me with this really aimless feeling, where nothing feels earned or worthwhile.
God I can't wait for Life By You and Paralives
I don’t even play the sims4 anymore, but you bet I always visit LGR for the newest pack reviews. 😆
I've been watching since I was a 4th-5th grader and now going into my sophomore year of college, it's still an absolute joy to see you review stuff.
I'm definitely tired with the Sims 4 as well, ahha. The expansions are so... AuGH!! They're not even expansive anymore!! It's all just a money grab which makes me incredibly sad given how special this game series was to my childhood. All good things come to an end though, I suppose.
Definitely excited to see what comes next in life simulation games though!! I can always count on you to give me the real deal.
Another cool life sim on the horizon is Tiny Life: it's like a reminiscent version of TS1 but with many improvements and the demo is already out
There are now £/$520 of expansion packs and the game is still incomplete
The infants look exactly like the toddlers just more annoying
Best Friday ever coming home from work and seeing this
I'm starting to think The Sims 4 is still a thing for the sole purpose of prolonging LGR's suffering.
I cant wait for "geting ready to die", the expansion about the old age, there will be will writhing, falling in the shower, losing memories and at least five chairs!
almost 5k hours... I'm so burned out from this game and have similar hours in sims 3 and 2. Country living + mods brought me back last time, I was so hopeful this pack was gonna get me to come back :( I've been playing sims on and off for 16 years.
TS4 Just feels lifeless in some aspects and too complicatedly repetitive in others at the same time... Raised so many kids but doing the aspirations over and over and then getting MCCC to just complete them and pass that life stage, oh but then I always also needed to do the scout stuff and I didn't know how to cheat All that... Then amongst it you cheat their responsibility, manners ect.... It just became a whole lot of work just to bypass it all and make it perfect, It was no longer enjoyable to complete it naturally.
And don't get me wrong, I've played The sims in many different manners and aspects, love building and CAS too. It just feels like since I'm over all the other life stages, what will this do for me now?
Thank you for saying what needs to be said!👏🏽
F yes, another review of a pack for a game I'll never play, but whose reviews I adore watching because it's Clint.
Honestly at this point these should just be QOL updates and not DLC
I'm in pins and needs for this pack, but have to put it off a bit because I'm on a budget. Worse, I have sims for PC on top of the PS4 (PS4 came first), so I may have to buy the PC version when it goes on sale if I like it enough. I was a bit disappointed with High School Years, but I'm sure most of us were. They could've AT LEAST given us cheerleader and Football rabbit holes instead of the crap we got. I didn't care that the Ferris wheel wasn't that interactive. I have learned over the 17 years of playing NOT to put EA on a pedestal. They have lied and bamboozled us plenty of times. I'd never expect them to put that much hard work/detail into something that COULD be done when it's just like them to skip it and give us the bare minimum. Sorry for the rant. I just have a lot of feelings still. As usual, your excellent review has sold me more on this pack. I"m sure the fandom is THRILLED we're finally getting memories back, among other things. I wasn't too into them being revived, but they do come in handy since I play for months at a time and can't keep track of nearly 200 different sims, including a family of 12 grown/teen kids, plus 16+ grandkids and grandma. 0_o Edit: It's also really sad it took this long for them to give us baby showers, etc. Modders did it years ago, but I am grateful because I am more emotionally attached to many of my PS4 sims at this point. This pack will make all my sims more fleshed out across consoles, thank goodness!!
I took a break for 6 months and now there are COWS JUST WONDERING AROUND?!? Where did the cows come from?!?
I'm guessing the cottage living pack, but I'm not sure.
I was hoping so hard that you would review this!!! I know you said that you don’t fool with the sims like that anymore but I’m glad to still see your content on it. Especially since I don’t buy anything sims related until I watch your review first! 😂 thank you!
Imagine if Growing Together, Parenthood, the Toddler/Kid Room/ Laundry Day pack content was all mixed together in one. That’s how Sims 4 packs should be.
Ahh, the ol' Sims 3 approach... I miss the days of more all-encompassing packs
Then add the others together like.. Vampires, werewolves, faries, mermaids 😢, then ... If they put together.. HSY , Discover University & MWS ..
Or something like that😂
That would be awesome, but it would be soooo buggy
@@Kit438 it would make good arguments if the pack on sims 4 all are bug free. Evan small things like the bust the dust kit is broken in its mechanic that no one really enjoy and the only customization was either use the dirty mechanic or not.
@@Kit438 No, it wouldn't. More content doesn't mean buggy game. TS4 is already buggy AF. TS3 was buggy because it was buggy, not because it had more content in it.
I can't explain why it's so fun watching you review sims content, but here I am years later lol.
For me I think it’s because he has TONS of fun and goofiness with his variations on Duke and all the different scenarios he does.
While also being fair and balanced. Since the start he’s admitted he’s likes 4 and has liked it from the start, but he has always been clear about his balanced gripes and disappointments with its downgrades from the past ones in the series.
But doesn’t dominate the reviews with those gripes. Brings em up but still seems to legitimately enjoy 😊
I don’t play The Sims 4 and never plan on buying it, but I still love LGR’s reviews of the packs.

I don’t remember when it started but I always love the running joke of LGR counting the number of chairs
same here and its funny when other sim RUclipsrs mention him when there talking about new chairs in the game
I remember him every time I take notice of a new chair. xD
I believe it started with the Sims 3 Seasons Ignorant Review!!!

I really don't even know why they didn't call it the Chairs 3 because that makes so much more sense" - 1:30 (It's unlisted now but in the Sims 3 reviews playlist)
I remember distinctly that this was it, and surely enough, in the Supernatural review, there's no line up, but in the Seasons review after the Ignorant one, the line up is there!!!

What a bad parents to letting an underage kid playing sims... It's clearly contain some sexual stuff, nudity, and stuff like that
@@DBT1007 there is nothing overtly sexual on the sims. They even censoring things that don't need to be censored like toilet since sim don't even bother to undo their bottom clothing.
When there is nudity, it was censored. Not even woohoo is done in nude in most ocassion. When they do, like in shower, you dont even see anything. Besides it's clear the target is preteen and teen so if by that time you don't understand basic sex, i find it hardly implausible you learn about lovemaking by witnessing sims woohoo.
Last part, even if you think that the sims is pretty liberal with sex, you can't actually just ask for wohoo without making the other one your more friendly. So yeah, even in game they teach you to be responsible and ask for a kind of consent first.
It's such an emotionally confusing experience when I see features I really like in the new expansions. At once, my brain says, "Wow, that sounds cool, I wanna try that" but also "THIS IS SEVERAL YEARS AND HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TOO LATE, YOU ABSOLUTE CABBAGES"
plus it's $40 for stuff that should just be in the game to begin with
it really is sad how the company went from making packs in Sims 3 so that players could customize their experience in fun ways to packs/kits/extras in Sims 4 that are clearly just cash grabs
Oh man I'm with Clint, the Sims 4 is only still around because it has no direct competition, I hope Paralives and Life by You will shake things up for the scene much in the way that Cities Skylines did for city builders. If nothing else, it'll force EA to actually put in an effort as they're unlikely to shelve the Sims and its incredible profitability as they did with Simcity.
Totally agreed. I'm waiting Life by You eagerly.
Hopefully EA would get its head out from its arse and start to take things more seriously.

@@f.miller801 I feel like that's the sentiment for a number of these packs.
LGR Reviews are probably the most unbiased Sims reviews, no Game Changers affiliation, no everyday play influencing the review, just pure facts. I love all of LGR, came for the Sims, stayed for retro tech.
Could you elaborate on what you mean by everyday play influencing the review? It seems to me that people who play the game every day would be the ones most interested in how it affects thair gameplay.
@@smellincoffee rose tinted glasses too. Someone who plays that much is more likely, for example, to see a minor tweak as being a huge game changer. While the general audience might not notice or care. LGR instead just plainly looks at the content to see if it's worth forty bucks.
I’ve been seeing the girlies have affiliate codes that solely benefit them. Not even a discount lol just use my code so I can get money.
@@TCO_404 LGR also, as he said himself, has long been tired of the game and it's expansions. So he _is_ biased, negatively towards the game.
Yeah, for some reason folks seem to think having positive feelings about the game is biased, but negative feelings about it are unbiased. When really reviews are always “biased” as they are subjective to the feelings/thoughts of the reviewer. It doesn’t mean that the reviews won’t have facts in them to help support their thoughts/feelings. But it’s still an opinion at the end of the day. 🤷🏾♀️

@@BlckSWANWhtRbbt Or whatever _Project Rene_ ends up being called. I'm still not convinced it'll be "The Sims 5," my money is on a soft reboot of the franchise.
always online microtransaction heavy i can see it now.
@@LGR My guess is it will be a soft reboot like you say but as something closer to a live service style game - New expansions, etc will instead be free updates and the main revenue stream will be people paying the upfront cost of buying the game alongside a storefront selling new content for the game ala The Sims 3's store. More than likely the updates will have a relative lack of content to make use of the new features with the idea being that you instead buy that content on the storefront, although I have little doubt the community will step in so you can easily just wait a month or two and get a load of modder-made content for free instead.
The whole expansion thing as EAxis does it currently is a bit of a weakness with the competition coming out to be honest, assuming Paradox does a Cities Skylines-style DLC release schedule for their game then I can see an approach like I've theorised above actually giving EAxis a leg up.
@@terryberry38 Specifically, the gurus have said it's _"the next generation Sims game and creative platform.”_ Read their wording carefully :)
They specifically have not said "The Sims 5" or anything like that. The team has been quite careful, yet vague, in all of their descriptions and phrasing. It will almost certainly be the fifth mainline Sims game, but I just don't know that it will be specifically be called The Sims 5.
I personally feel they may go for a soft reboot of the series to start "fresh" and not have the baggage of being a sequel, exactly. I can see them calling it "Sims" or even "The Sims" again, theoretically resetting the stage and introducing a new online-focused simming platform for content to be added to over the next decade or so. It certainly falls in line with the current trends of game design and monetization, both at EA and other big publishers.
They've also described how a big focus of Project Rene is to allow other players online to drop in and out of your game at will, and that you go from playing on your PC to playing on a phone seamlessly. So while I'm admittedly reading between the lines, it kinda feels more like a reboot/refresh of the series rather than a straight-up sequel to The Sims 4.

@@Schaemiaat this point high-school years is like parent hood where they will just do another pay wall for teens to have better gameplay
I think Parenthood, Growing Together, Toddler Stuff and Kids Room would have been the ultimate Generations -esque pack.

I love how it’s basically tradition to review Sims DLC on this channel
Always has been. 🔫
will not watch it anywhere else haha
He only reviews the big expansions now. Sims 4 has more than $1000 of DLC and the game still sucks if you own it all.
@@mr.cuddlesworth3144 I have to fully agree with you there
This is the way.
EA perfecting the art of making a game, then splitting it up into a billion packs you have to pay extra for.
and this is why I pirate the packs

EA - Scamming Everyone
Well thats kind of their bread and butter isnt it?
Wait... They actually locked the personalities for the infants behind a paywall? What the f- That's like if they added dogs in an update and then made you pay so that they could play fetch and bark. Wow.
😂😂😂😂 omg this comment was hilarious
For having been around in 23 years, I am amazed how little progress The Sims have made. I mean progress have been made but...
The most progress was made in Sims 2 and 3. It’s just sad this shell of a game is still going like this.
Could say the same for gaming as a whole. Feel like weve been on the same gen since 2012
why make new thing when current thing prints money
I'm more amazed how people are hyping this and not more upset about a pay wall for gameplay that was free in base games in last two games
Sims 2 and 3 were both noticeable progressions over their predecessor. Sims 4 was a regression.
You know you've got it bad when you're hoping for Paradox to rescue you from DLC hell.
Paradox? Rescue from DLC's?
Oh boy, if only you knew...
@@KokorocodonIf the DLC is packed and worth it, I love them. Sims 4 DLC are empty cash grabs.

An LGR Sims review? It's been 83 years...
The same amount of years we’ve had with sims 4
All the sims games going back to the original have nickel-and-dimed users with expansion packs, but Sims 4 seems especially egregious. $40 for a couple of social improvements and a handful of chairs - really? No thanks.
The family dynamics should be in the base game tbh
Most of it should. I'll give example of CiV V, they had Religion and Trade Route on two separate expansion. When civ vi rolled out, they were integrated to base game since the devs is not as crazy as sims dev to sell the same thing twice, just in differrent graphic.
LGR Sims content brings me joy, even if the game no longer does 🥰
