I think that's really true in restaurants though. They don't want to waste food. And for a waiter to drop something and then having to go back to the chef or whatever, they could probably get yelled at and stuff. Some people wouldn't believe the stuff that happens at restaurants/bars..
Anybody else hate it when you spend a long time making something to eat and then you end up dropping it on the floor only to think whether or not to still eat it? Lol
When food spills onto my floor, it goes in the trash. I use to go to "jackson hole" in Manhattan for a "turkey burger". I found a STAPLE inside my cooked turkey burger. The freaking owner acted as if it was NO BIG THING. I should've sued his ass because I almost swallowed it. Well, I no longer go eat out. I don't trust other's to handle my food and as you can see, their nasty, very unsanitary, and you would be utterly disgusted if you REALLY knew what goes on in the kitchen/basement of all restaurants. Never again.
I'm sure it's happened to me. I've worked in the fast food industry & I NEVER served anything that was contaminated in any way. I worked w/ people that wouldn't was the pans between uses which grossed me out. I even yelled at my supervisors for not being sanitary. Sure they tried to write me up, but the manager ended up giving them a citation...lol. It's more disrespectful & I am pretty sure those who do serve contaminated food will be the 1st ones to bitch that something is wrong w/ their food.
Very well said. She seems to get people who are vulnerable, wonder how she'd take it, she should be the subject matter sometime and set an example she's a judge but is never judged really.
This is why I just don't eat out. Simple solution. Gosh people. You leave your food in the hands of other human beings you know nothing about and act shocked when your food is being handled in nasty manners. Cook your own food. Healthier and cleaner.
I have worked with food (manager at a pizza place) and never did we just say "shit happens" and serve our customers something that we knew was less than perfect. One time, about 12 pizzas fell off a rack when someone pulled out a pizza for a carry-out customer from the bottom. Some of those pizzas appeared undamaged, but we replaced them ALL, because shit happens, and when it does, you do what it takes to make it right. L-isten E-mpathize A-pologize D-do what it takes to make it right. LEAD.
At the same time though, if you're in a position in power where young girls look up to you, it doesn't matter what you did in the past. You should acknowledge it, of course, but it's also good to use that kind of power to influence others in a strong way and make them become more aware of the world around them.
that's actually true what that guy said about working in a restaurant - I've worked in 5 different restaurants and it's absolutely the same everywhere, no matter how prestigeous they might be. if somebody dropped sth, he couldn't care less. the staff would also touch the food without gloves or washing their hands, sometimes after using a toilet. one time guys from a kitchen even spat into a client's porridge because he was rude.
yea those specific people...taping is like a 3hr event and in between takes and before filming...she was in the studio and shejust stayed to herself. she didnt like give hungs or shake hands or anything
a lot of people do that, at school we have this class "child care" and for one day mothers bring their kids, so we can tell them stories and eat with them. We make groups and we prepare them little smily burgers ,i trip on the carpet and drop them and the teacher said, just pick it up and clean the burgers and feed them. We were shock because she said hygiene is first. So we scrap those and make a new ones, but thats reality guys.
The yellow writing is from GTA: SA. The "germs" on the floor are nothing compared to the chemicals put in the food for flavour or as preservatives or to make you addicted to that food.
I worry about your restaurants people. I work in fast food, and our policy is, if it touched the floor it goes in the bin. We have never cut corners on that policy. Except sometimes when I drop a nugget on the bench and know I can't give it to the customer so I pop it in my mouth, but that's only the bench I wouldn't eat it if it touched the floor.
if my food was dropped at a restaurant by my waiter then I would be pissed, because I am paying for quality, its like saying I'm buying a new car that has a few dents. That being said, if I drop food at my house I'm going to eat it.
While I dont think its a big deal to eat something that dropped on the floor, I'd tell the person because you're paying at a restaurant and you should get good service and clean food
lol I expected the crowd to react like on most shows ''OMG NOES O:!..A GUY PUNCHING A GIRLK OMG NOES '' which I guess is true. They were all quiet as hell o-o
Yea payless i agree. It didnt make me think of less her. I think i was jsut expecting her to say more to us..but i mean she did have that guy dance and talk with us
Honestly, I couldn't tell the difference when she was dressed as a stripper. Not saying she looks like a stripper or anything, but they didn't make her face look that different. I could still tell it was Tyra. Awks.
i believe in he five second rule- only if its at ur home on CLEAN floors. In a resturant u need more class than that. People have stepped there with shit on der shoes
@lexandros Quoting you, " IF it gets cleaned everyday " Key word: IF. We never know how clean that floor is unless you're an actual worker there. I know some people are willing to take that chance. I'm just being logical here. And I do agree with you on the laptop, cellphone thing.
Its actually best once and a while to eat food that is not necessarily clean, your stomach and immune system will benefit from this, and it will be harder to get food poisoning.
i used to work at a deli in super market and because they dont wonna waste meat if you drop the meat chubs on the floor they tell you if someones watching like a customer just set it aside as if your throwing it out but after they leave put it back in the display case.... things like this happen all te time in food places all different food places not just restaurants
Well I think the experiment with the Danish was poorly conceived because people might be reluctant due to the fact that the waiter could potentially lose his job. Plus everyone looks so down on people in the service industry anyway, it Should have been an irrational customer giving the waiter a hard time and see if anyone stepped in.
Learned from the Discovery network that the instant something touches the floor, it already has over 1,000 different types of bacteria on it. Pretty interesting...
I'm a poor college student... A sandwich of mine fell on a filthy lecture hall floor and I picked it up and ate it without a second thought. I'm still alive lol People should be more concerned about what's INSIDE the actual food than what's ON it.
@crabclaw1997 it's when once you drop food on the floor then it's okay to eat it as long as it wasn't on the floor for more than 5 seconds or something :)
I'm def not an expert in this subject so please excuse me if I'm not 100% technically correct, but you need to consider bystander apathy. You can't really judge people on not saying anything because you can't personally know until you ARE the bystander watching. Sure, all of us would think we'd say something, but its not like all these people are that different from us so we could quite possibly do the same thing. I recommend researching bystander apathy and looking at the case of Kitty Genovese
I hate it when Tyra tries to make stuff that nobody cares about a big deal on her show. I mean how many people would really say something if a waiter dropped a danish on the floor and just picked it up? Frankly, I really don't think anyone cares that much, it's not like she's going to die or even get sick from a pastry being on the floor for half a second. Tyra acts like the girl is going to have a heart attack from eating her food...ridiculous.
Sometimes the waiters dont want to get in trouble from their bosses for dropping the food and waisting the companies resourses..so they just keep quiet
@VioletCarousel u right on this one and i watched a doc they were saying that children in poor area tend to have a stronger immune systems than the wealthier ones because their bodies use to face germs and overcome it most of the time...that doesnt mean we have to be exposed noooo but becoz we try to avoid germs so hard and too much that we overtake medications and we not enough prepare when they there...
As to the beginning of this video: I was working in a pub (kitchen), and the chef did not give a damn. If something fell, he would've picked it up and put it back on the plate. In the beginning I was shocked. But as time went by it started to make sense to me. It's a very stressful job. At one point you just no longer care.
The 3 second rule is not real. The second food touches something contaminated, it's contaminated all throughout the entire thing.
Depends on the floor though I wouldn't eat food that had dropped in the floor that's disgusting o_o
Lol
Love when people answers are "why wouldnt you .. " .. :) People should always ask themselves that question.
OH NO NOT DANISH OFF THE FLOOOOR OOOH GOOOOOOD
now i know to be more careful when i eat in restaurants
"the place is closed? i wonder why" =D love tyra
i love the part when thast guy said "have u ever worked in a restourant?" and tyra was like "what? im a diva honey" hahaha
Glad to know people still have morals when they think no one is looking. :]
WWYD is sooo good
i agree that you shouldn't waste food, but you can get sick eating off the floor lol
When food spills onto my floor, it goes in the trash. I use to go to "jackson hole" in Manhattan for a "turkey burger". I found a STAPLE inside my cooked turkey burger. Tyra is killing me in her outfit!!!
love that woman
Tyra would explode if she couldn't talk about herself for 3 minutes.
your right. tyra looks beautiful .
no ridiculous dresses.
she looks classy and gorgeous
@OriginalCollazo I'm glad you did! Omg, me and Johnny were sitting here thinking how sweet it would have been to see you breakin on the show! Hahahah.
Very well said. She seems to get people who are vulnerable, wonder how she'd take it, she should be the subject matter sometime and set an example she's a judge but is never judged really.
renee seems nice
I think waiters should treat other people's food the way the'd want their own food treated. What goes around does come around.
AND THAT'S HOW THE WORLD IS !!
KINDNESS - CARING - LOVE - PEACE....
FROM THE SIMPLE THINGS LIKE THIS SHOW WHERE MANY PEOPLE FEELINGS STAND FOR.
"the place is closed now" haha
i LOVE the Tyra show it's so funn and makes me smile!
That's my girl. I'm proud you spoke up.
People step in and out. God knows what's under those shoes.
But still, go ahead, do it. If you love it so much. :)
i really love tyra's black dress
I am rethinking the whole eating out thing now! I think I'll just cook for myself from now on!
3 second rule? Bacteria still gets on it.
I love Tyra. She is such a good host...
LOVE HER HAIR!!!

those beautiful words coming from Tyra's mouth makes it all so ironical...
it was awesome. really fun you dance in btwn takes and stuff. tyra doesnt really talk to the audience but she alot prettier in persnnn
This is why I just don't eat out. Simple solution. Gosh people. You leave your food in the hands of other human beings you know nothing about and act shocked when your food is being handled in nasty manners. Cook your own food. Healthier and cleaner.
tyra fan!!! for life!
I have worked with food (manager at a pizza place) and never did we just say "shit happens" and serve our customers something that we knew was less than perfect. tyra looks the best with curly hair and when she braids her hair
At the same time though, if you're in a position in power where young girls look up to you, it doesn't matter what you did in the past. tyra's shirt is epic!
yea those specific people...taping is like a 3hr event and in between takes and before filming...she was in the studio and shejust stayed to herself. she didnt like give hungs or shake hands or anything

The "germs" on the floor are nothing compared to the chemicals put in the food for flavour or as preservatives or to make you addicted to that food.
i have worked in the food preparation industry for years and base on what i have seen i would never eat at a restaurant.
Wow, world changing stuff! Nobel prize for Tyra??
tyra use to be so flyy
it was one of the best talk shows
This was hella hilarious........i am laugh to hard right now
ew i have worked in restaurants and would never do that
I worry about your restaurants people. I work in fast food, and our policy is, if it touched the floor it goes in the bin. We have never cut corners on that policy. Except sometimes when I drop a nugget on the bench and know I can't give it to the customer so I pop it in my mouth, but that's only the bench I wouldn't eat it if it touched the floor.
there is a difference between saying you would do it and actually doing it
if my food was dropped at a restaurant by my waiter then I would be pissed, because I am paying for quality, its like saying I'm buying a new car that has a few dents. That being said, if I drop food at my house I'm going to eat it.
In what episode does she goe undercover? What's the anme or where can i find it? I rreeeaally wanna watch that episode!
While I dont think its a big deal to eat something that dropped on the floor, I'd tell the person because you're paying at a restaurant and you should get good service and clean food
@TheIceMurder how did u know no1 died or got sick?
ha tyra really gave that guy in the audience a hard time lol
I'm not eating out anymore
I would def tell the victim if I knew anything or saw anything :O
Me too!! The first girl was right.
i've worked at olive garden and we drop rolls all the time lol.
@smileycheerer lool is it me or do the seconds in that rule keep going higher and higher?
@bos3eed1
actually, 2 girls 1 cup was made in brazil.
"Nothing to lose"
Watch the waiter be part of the mafia.
Just watch.
lol I expected the crowd to react like on most shows ''OMG NOES O:!..A GUY PUNCHING A GIRLK OMG NOES '' which I guess is true.
They were all quiet as hell o-o
Yea payless i agree. It didnt make me think of less her. I think i was jsut expecting her to say more to us..but i mean she did have that guy dance and talk with us

Its actually best once and a while to eat food that is not necessarily clean, your stomach and immune system will benefit from this, and it will be harder to get food poisoning.
There is no 3,2, or 1 second rule Once the food touches the floor or carpeting, whatever microscopic or any sized item will stick to it.
Tyra banks is sooo pretty!
i used to work at a deli in super market and because they dont wonna waste meat if you drop the meat chubs on the floor they tell you if someones watching like a customer just set it aside as if your throwing it out but after they leave put it back in the display case....

Amy Provan this is why I don't eat out. Disgusting pigs

Plus everyone looks so down on people in the service industry anyway, it Should have been an irrational customer giving the waiter a hard time and see if anyone stepped in.
I usually only use the 3 sec rule in my house if its outside or somewhere else usually not because i dont trust whats been on that floor
whats the 3 second rule?
tyra's outfit is really nice... anyone knows anything of the outfit?
what episode is 00:27 ?
my employees say just put it back later when costumers don't see it
Plus it's less wasteful to simply realize the human body is much more robust than we think.
I wonder if Tyra would say anything in the same situation..it's easy to stand up high and judge the people down there..
THANx AGAiN FOR UPLOADiN.... :):):):)
Learned from the Discovery network that the instant something touches the floor, it already has over 1,000 different types of bacteria on it. Pretty interesting...
its hard to tell at times. Some people snap or might be harsh if you tell them. i would tell .
that girl speaking that said u should say something i swear she was on the last tyra show epsoide
Dude! what restaurant was that?
i dont understand the 5 second rule, its not like bacteria is gonna say "hold on they have 5 seconds" lol
I'm a poor college student... A sandwich of mine fell on a filthy lecture hall floor and I picked it up and ate it without a second thought. I'm still alive lol
People should be more concerned about what's INSIDE the actual food than what's ON it.
They should have had her be mean to someone on the phone right before he dropped it and see how it changes
Agreed. There was far too little thought put into this "social experiment" .
@crabclaw1997 it's when once you drop food on the floor then it's okay to eat it as long as it wasn't on the floor for more than 5 seconds or something :)
science has proved that dry food takes seven seconds to get germs, and wet food takes ten! so unless its falling in dirt it is technically ok.
I'm def not an expert in this subject so please excuse me if I'm not 100% technically correct, but you need to consider bystander apathy. You can't really judge people on not saying anything because you can't personally know until you ARE the bystander watching. Aww, sounds fun, I want to go on the show! how did you get in the audience?
@sylvial1985 That's not what she said. She said she knows someone who knows that rule.
And, she means they don't know that it was a setup.
Sometimes the waiters dont want to get in trouble from their bosses for dropping the food and waisting the companies resourses..so they just keep quiet
"they saw it on the floor" me "everybody do the dinosaur!"
