Wedding is a few days' event whereas marriage is for life. Focus on what is important is a personal choice. In the present age, when the bride & the groom have 'an independent opinion', then they have the obligation to 'foot the bill' on their own too. As for parents, they are most welcome to attend the event(s) & contribute as per their wish & ability. We got married 25 years ago & did just that. Our parents (both sides) were happy. As for us, the satisfaction was immense. Then & even today.

This is a great point and question for Indians. Cheap and simple marriages have been encouraged by the Shankaracharyas of old as well. As per Vedic paramparas, the glamor of marriages is nowhere important to the spiritual or Adhyatmik part that is contained in the hymns and verses chanted especially during the Panigrahanam ritual. It is both simple, least costly and also encourages and provides more funds for those whom are practicing Vaidigas whom spend almost 13 - 16 years learning the Vedas, Shastras, Sampradayas etc. So please 🙏 These rich marriages are literally killing people due to the wants that come out of greed.

At first, maximum Indians always want to show their status through such big budget wedding. Such big budget wedding is a major concern for the Bride's family and it will lead to a decrease in the sex ratio as people will treat the girls as burden as their wedding cost is so high. Although the wedding industry generate various new employment opportunities but people should be concern that it is not a competition to establish your supremacy. So everyone have their own liberty but as a responsible citizen we should concern more about the people who don't get available foods for rising inflation. At last my basic ideology is simple living, high thinking.

Do not turn a blind eye to these things. You and I sit here full bellied. Yes, many people have ration cards. But many else do not. Yes, people eat food, but barely enough. The problem lies not in weddings, but the over-exaggeration of such a sacred ritual.

It's a personal choice. Here in UK 🇬🇧 people are trending in smaller weddings as everything has gone so expensive. I did my sons wedding 2 weeks ago but only invited friends and relatives who are actually happy with the wedding and happy for my son. The brides side did a Grand reception and spent £100000s thats their wish gor their daughter. It was beautiful ❤ but even so they only invited guests who were happy for the couple. I'm not going to lie but prefer small weddings and give the money to your kids for their future
