TORNADO THREAT IN LOS ANGELES last night with five day atmospheric river event!

- Storm chasers Reed Timmer and Jony Hallen intercepted a funnel cloud in Dana Point, California and a severe thunderstorm warning with #tornado possible tag in Downtown Los Angeles! This was on day 4 of the category 5 atmospheric river event that clobbered parts of central and southern California with record-breaking rainfall. UCLA campus measured 12.67 inches of rainfall in a 24 hour period. This video concludes our coverage of this historic weather event. We wonder if an ARKstorm will happen in our lifetimes. An arkstorm is an atmospheric river event that persists for weeks, overwhelming all flood control mechanisms. If this happens, we will be there to intercept this storm and increase awareness for those in its path.

Never Stop Chasing
/ @reedtimmerwx
Thank you Reed. Enjoyed this report. Love your title... Extreme Meteorologist. You are the extreme 😁 Never stop chasing.
I love the joy and enthusiasm I hear on the waterspout chase.
The 2nd segment didn't appear as severe storms at all. I've commonly seen this in New England Northeasters
Great compilation
The camera view was really good in this video
Reed going for those FPV skill mode shots with the birds.
Watch out for the bird strikes tho...... even jet planes get bird strikes lol
Right on. Give me 5
We got earthquakes in Oklahoma and tornadoes in California, look how accurate the uno reverse card works!
why dont u drive the dominator? ( it was a good storm chasing vehicle)
It cost a lot of money to drive that thing around, he only uses that when the tornado threat is super high and he wants to get close to them. The gas mileage is terrible and there are so many moving parts to the dominator that can have problems when it is used a lot.
Well most likely no water shortage here so sometimes there is a gift in somethings 🤷🏼♀🤷🏼♀
Salt creek beach! My stomping grounds.
Make sure you grab some Jaunitas off 4th and Grove in Ontario off the 10 frwy before getting out of SoCal.
Straight fire homie. Best Mexican tacos and burritos you’ll ever have. It’ll ruin you.
I used to eat there!
You sure you don't meant 2-8-(24) in the intro?... 😬
Yes I think the trails in the sky are creating this. This is a weather coment.
Thank you for the continuing updates & coverage. Please stay safe out there!
Great to see you in my area! I'm right next to Dana Point in San Clemente. Thanks for the footage and visiting!
Really enjoying these day by day updates, it’s impressive seeing those clouds building like that and everything!
here in north texas our tornado season is fixing to start
There were some low hanging clouds here yesterday morning in the desert. They were beautiful.
Some of them were very sexy too!
We are finally seeing blue skies here in Los Angeles. We made it! Reed, thanks for your hard work!
Thank god😂❤
you shold play roblox
I appreciate the coverage over the storm start on west coast then start to move east
No matter what, Reed is always smiling. He really enjoys his work.😄
That’s a wow there.
in sacramento on sunday night we had a 1 for damaging winds and a 1 for tornado
We had multiple tornado warnings in San Diego two days ago. There was a rather large funnel forming above Coronado and warnings were issued as far south as Chula Vista. Its been a wild couple of days.
I Dont Know When this Go8ng to End for these People!! I Pray Its Soon!! Thank You Reed Always the Best Videos and Reporting that Ever Was!! Youre Amazing, and God Bless!!❤
PpLp
Go up towards central California this happens quite often
Welcome to our West coast
always love Reed and his storm-chasing work! Be safe.... and keep up the Great work!
Love you all Reed congratulations
Thank you for the video. Great job ❤
Appreciate you being in Southern California for these events, Reed! Having someone with as much knowledge as you have to help define the science is a gift. Living in Southern California my whole life, it gets overwhelming having so many amateur meteorologists on TV giving indoor forecasts. It almost feels like being in good hands having you be a part of these recent California storms. You're always welcome in San Diego.
I miss my hometown so much. It’s beautiful. Stay safe Reed. Much Love ❤
Reed you need a hot bowl of soup and some tea dear. 😊❤
Where the tornado?
its a funnel cloud
@@joey6451 there's always gotta be That one guy
What has been happening in California is madness. Just insane rainfall amounts. I don't think any of us here except Reed has seen this kind of atmospheric river this powerful before.
1997-98 El Niño winter was also a beast for So Cal and the South in general. I was in middle school waiting for the school bus outside when a tornado formed.....
@@ianburns3358 I remember my downstairs neighbor got flooded in because the whole pathway up to the grass was basically a little river.
Stop believing the news were fine
yes, the 97 el Nino was also memorable, but I think we got more rainfall in 82-83 el Nino, but that was more spread out throughout the winter season, 97 was spread out thru February, this was simply all at once, and if you look at local history records you'll find this isn't unprecedented, this has happened here for centuries with the worst happened in 1864, 30 inches of rain recorded over a 20 day period, in fact it's the one event that ended up destroying the cattle industry for SoCal, Santa Ana River overflowed all the way to the Los coyotes hills, the city of Stanton became an island, it rerouted the brea creek to flow towards the San Gabriel when it used to flow towards the Santa ana an the canyons of la Miranda were entirely submerged under 10 feet of water, the big diffrence is all the development meant to control all that flooding, in fact each of these flood events are what prompted the flood control systems in the 1st place, a flood in 37 in OC forced the building of that dam in corona so OC would never see a flood again where people were canoeing down harbor blvd
@@austinharding9734 Interesting history. What happened here in California though happened in just 3 days not 20. Over 15 inches in 3 DAYS! Absolutely insane.
that is crazy for California
Thank you for keeping us updated. Much appreciated.
Have you, or are you planning to, gone up to the Santa Clarita Valley to see how flooded the Santa Clara "river" is?
Impressive storm but everything you cover is so impressive
Grammer check.. You're the Timmer!!!!
Cute floating cloud the drop and do the twist!
I got more information from this channel than my local news. Thanks for all the views from the areas media won't dare to go. We made it through and luckily I only lost power once for a few hours.
It great picture.
Mindi Miller weather all over California
what trips me out is that cut off low is the same low pressure system that made the storm just a week an a half ago, its been parked off the coast of oregon ann washinton this whole time an only finally passed by las night! Amazing to see a cut off low hangout. for over , a week an a half, two weeks like that!!
Ok we go get rain later on weekend in Texas ! I got canned goods food to eat. You never know when Reed will name you state - county - town or road! I am thankful for Reed and other Meterologist!
See you back here in 10 years when El Niño returns. La Niña arriving this Spring to kick off 9 years of drought.
Thank you so much for coming out and sharing your expertise. Big Bear is getting buried. Hope you had fun. God is Love.
Love never Fails 💖
great reporting!thanks so much.stay safe
Thank you for sharing and God bless all!
The reason we never have tornados in California is because we are too hilly and mountainous. However we do on rare occasions get a weak funnel cloud near the beach or in a flat valley area.
There was a small one last year in Montebello
I thought i seen one building on the cam too, Now i know i wasnt trippin. Thanks big Reed. Your the Timmer!!! Always keep chasing!!
Absolutely fascinating drone footage. Thank you
Reed you are greatly appreciated by all of us other weather nerds, Be safe.
Glad our weather didn't disappoint while you were here Reed, and I hope you'll be around for 'round 2' on Feb 16th or thereabouts. 😬
And don't forget the earthquake threat- Heavy rain lubricates fault lines and tomorrow is the new moon.
fault lines are miles below the ground, do you actually think that the water will get down there? Inform yourself before posting your conspiracies here.
They just had an Earthquake in SoCal 😮

I KNOW!
BADDA BING!

Staying dry here in Colorado, thankful for your dedication Reed!
Wow thats either RFD or the storm deciding to drop!
Looks Like Reed Is Drowning In Water - Microphone Too lol Be Safe Reed Good Reporting
Your the Timmer!!!!!!
Crazy weather !

Thanks you are right and He's the Timmer@@useranogrande
Whoa, batten down all your loose items folks, and stay safe.
There’s an area by where I live that gets those slow swirls and looks like a donut sometimes. I always think it would be a spot given the right conditions.
Looks like things have calmed down a bit.
We had a couple of low topped storms not long before it became night. Rained like crazy after it was dark. This was in Bakersfield
I miss your incredible interceptions with Dom 3 and 2
When the earth shift the storm shift. Why no one ask about the plates movements in the last 3 decades. There is constant mini quakes in CA.
There has always been mini quakes in California, all over the world actually, I suggest informing Yourself.
you just prove my point exactly. lol@@useranogrande
Reading this in northeast WI. We have been having Spring for weeks now. Today, it is 55 degrees. The sky just got orange and started hailing. After this “heat wave” we are only supposed to go into the 30’s for next week. This is not winter in WI! Not complaining. I pray daily for everyone in CA. It just keeps coming!
Thanks for the amazing coverage.
Spinners wow no way I was looking up and noticed that too. They are spinning together
Conversation piece
To bad All that water should be going to lake mead!
Saw that lake in person back in 2017 & I'm very concerned with how low the water levels are now.
You tha man, Reed. Super Weather Man 🌦☔

@jamesturner6949 Scientists know about cyclicity through studies of ice cores and Quaternary geologic deposits.
The oldest ice preserved on Earth is 800,000 years old. Scientists at special research stations in Antarctica and Greenland take samples (cores) from this ice and study the sediments it contains, including volcanic ash, dust, and gases. Radiocarbon analysis of these sediments reliably shows what natural disasters have occurred on our planet over the past 800,000 years.

We had a funnel cloud spotted in Bakersfield,Ca on Tues night and last night (wed), there were reports of a tornado touching down in Pismo beach, ca
It snowed here today in NW Arizona in the I-40 corridor at even 3,500' and above that. Also lots of on and off rain yesterday and a little between snow storms today.
I've been seeing wall clouds coming into Oceanside twice this winter, but never so much rotation as this one over Dana Point. One had a tail cloud pulling all the way across the entire sky. Maybe it was rotating, but it was about 2 miles away from me.
Good to see my city get some water lol
Go reed!
the tucker tornado, oh know
I once helped land a space shuttle in one of those storm water ways with a cute girl who later went on to break her neck and was paralyzed while boxing.
Did you like that Reed maybe next time we got Moore in L.A that would be a dream he a mini tornado by El Monte near Montebello last year I always knew that would happen there for some reason it would get dark around the hills 👻
What now? My goodness
Imagine Trillian particles of pollution gallon of water imagine just in a empty bottle of water this is pouring into our oceans
Every single person I know living in Southern California has said this is nothing more than the same flooding that happens every few years
I was raised in LA and have spent the last 30 years in San Diego. As a sailplane pilot, i have more than a passing interest in meteorology. I have never experienced anything close to this amount of precipitation (I have a rain gauge) combined with the wind, tornadic activity, temperature fluctuations, and flooding.
Nahh this is God saying you have forsaken me.
I'm annoyed at the people that discounted the role of weather in the tragic crash of the Marine Corps helicopter in Pine Valley. Of course those mountains could spawn a downdraft that would be fatal to a low-flying aircraft under these conditions. Just because it is "Southern California" doesn't mean the weather can't be violent.
one time' in life for this ;storm'
I thought hurricane season was ova.
Nice
That is some really bad weather in Los Angeles.

2/8/23?
You put 2023 instead of 2024 at the beginning of the video.
Hi :>
Must be Trumps fault somehow. 🤥😳 Thanks for showing us Reed !!! Looks pretty nasty out there. 👍
Someone to blame: "Western Culture is responsible for 80% of all GHG emissions so far."
No single person owns that power.
6:00 Hey would you mind not harassing our local wildlife like that? I'm a fan of drones but we have regulations against that. California Code of Regulations, Title 14, Section 251.1 - Harassment of Animals
