Until I read the comments I thought this was a legit alternate ending. I don't know; from the Bluray or something. And yes, that would be an awesome ending if at the end it would show that there are two scenarios where the Machine wins and she(no, I won't use "it") would choose the second one - meaning it's a better one.

Better to end on a high for sure. But be nice to think they were still out there fighting to help the innocent. Much more uplifting than the real ending, which was so messy and to us didn't tie up logically the paths tor threads that didn't make sense. Eg. why can't a computer signalled missile be redirected or stopped by another super-computer?!
And why did John (and some of the others) escape 100 deaths, fights, bullets, threats, attacks, yada, yada, yada and YET - was too weak or dumb or not thinking well enough, to plan an escape route from this ONE building and ONE situation? So awfully scripted. Cop out ending so there can never be another show. I hope they get smart and make this another simulation. :)
And how did John manage to escape HUNDREDS of dangerous and deadly scenarios throughout every episode and yet this time he has no plan, no strength and no hope?? Like his brain suddenly shut out. It was so disappointing for a show that was SOOOO good. I wish they'd done an alternate ending or just left us not knowing.
@@1970brenz in this mission , machine itself warned them that the one who completing the mission will definitely die. Even machine was not able to think of a simulation where everybody is saved as well as the work is done .
Person of interest is a show that will always hold a very special place in my heart, and I recently rewatched it in its entirety for the third time. I think the reason I loved it so much was the fact that it felt so very real in how it handled itself. Moments were sad for the right reasons, for one. Finch and Reese have tragic pasts not because of some generic "someone they loved was murdered," but for things that feel like they could happen in reality and would believably break somebody. Finch, for example, became the greatest hacker not out of greed or lust for power, but because he wanted to care for his father. He built the Machine to try and save lives, and designed it meticulously in order to prevent abuse. Reese lost all of his family at a young age and devoted himself to his country. He sacrificed his own feelings for Jessica in the hopes of saving her the trouble of grieving him, and yet she died and he was the one left wounded after his government betrayed him. That, and the world of surveillance that's painted feels a little too realistic. It's terrifying to think that something like the Machine vs. Samaritan could be happening right now, and none of us know about it. I didn't hate the ending by any means - the deaths make sense and, while they are still tragic, aren't unjustified. Root died protecting the man who put her on the path of light, and was immortalized as the Machine's interface. That in itself is just incredible to see, and you know that she would be happy with such a fate. John died protecting the man who saved him from himself, and managed to come to terms with the fact that he simply can't live without a purpose. He dies serving something greater than himself, as a true hero. Compared to the suicide he planned at the very beginning, that's a huge step up. The variations of the world without the Machine were probably my favorite part. Things were different, but not necessarily better or worse. John was dead, but Nathan lived. Finch didn't have any moral repercussions, but never met Grace. Carter lived, but Fusco remained dirty. Shaw's partner Kohl survived and she kept her job, but Root joined the dark side. The ending was quite good, just sadder than many have liked. Sorry for the ramble, I just love this show too much to let it go without typing something up about it. This was a beautiful fan work, perfectly edited and perfectly vague. I think that it would have been better if this was merely a bridge between the end of season 5 and the actual, death-free conflict, but the ambiguity does do a good job in it's place. The "1" outcome is an awesome little detail, and the quotes you chose to play in the background were all extremely well placed. "Intro" by the XX at the end was also quite fitting. Given what you had to work with, this is truly exceptional. It does a great job contrasting with the sadness I've felt from the original ending, so I thank you for that. Great work, this was really cool to see and think about.
It did however feel like there was a disconnect between S1 and after with Finch. Start of the show it felt like he had access to any and everything, in fact as if he had full access to the machine. Nothing was off limits and the answers were just given. I believe that was what was intended but then they changed where they wanted to go with Finch not having a personal relationship with the machine they transferred that role to Root. This ended up affected the whole series. Whether it would have been better or worse before who knows.
Thr show mimics what is happening today, ironic as it seems. It's gave us an insight on how we need to handle what is to come..a hope..a glimmer, a light and path. If thr time goes accordingly, then we must rise up..and be like Finch and thr group.
I'm not usually one for fan-made alternate endings and such, perhaps because in a lot of cases they just slice up scenes to make new dialogue but yours... this was incredible. And I appreciated the work you put into all the little details, this seems so well done I wish POI would help push it out into the world. Really, incredible job
I feel like this would have been EXACTLY what they would have done had they been given the extra/normal amount of episodes. They'd have had us ALL panicking that our faves died, and then done this- reveal it was a simulation, and then have Her find that single version that kept them alive and have them go through that. Would've taken some great writing to think of the ONE single alteration that would have saved them.
Larae Brant yes! that’s what i’m loving about this video. it just feels so much more appropriate. kinda like the reveal at the end that Root’s narration was actually the Machine speaking w her voice all along. i also think it would’ve been kinda cool for them to film (and release) multiple endings bc it’d be like the show imitating the Machine. like its version of the Machine’s multiple simulations. i just choose to believe this video is the real way the show ended haha.
I think that would have been stupid. To have them all die and make it a simulation. AGAIN? We would have never trusted the episodes again and we wouldnt have felt so heavily about the deaths later on. Because some of the HAD to die. That was pretty clear early on.
@@konradplatt3833 "To have them all die and make it a simulation. AGAIN? We would have never trusted the episodes again and we wouldnt have felt so heavily about the deaths later on." What deaths "later on"? Do you know what a "final ending" is? You show the first scenario, showing that the Machine WILL win, then you END the show by showing there's another way, a better way. You could argue it doesn't wrap everything up, but the original ending doesn't. And for a benefit, it justifies why Season 5 didn't show the fate of most Samaritan operatives : it's not relevant for the simulation.
I think your excellent scenario could be made into a “sequel” movie. Reese, Root, (maybe even Carter?) are not dead. Simulations. Then they find that one path in millions.
I don’t think it’d be a good idea for it wouldn’t have the same effect on us, it couldn’t possibly make us feel like we felt at the ending. Root was immortalized as the voice of the machine, a well deserved tribute to her and her devotion to technology. Reese himself knew he was on borrowed times, which he owed that to Harold. As he said, he repaid the debt in full. He knew who he was and what life had in for him and decided to give his friend a chance, one he couldn’t have. Death was simply where his path would’ve lead to, no matter what.
I''ve watched the whole show over and over again (got the DVDs) and at the end, there's that inevitable single tear after the Machine is uploaded to that satellite. That being said, this alternate ending is so masterful and I'm sure it's one we fans would have liked. Thanks for posting it.
I actually really liked this version better. As I watched the aired finale, I thought something like this would happen because I couldn't imagine the Machine letting Root die. Thank you for taking the time to make it. ❤️
I saw it as this is what actually happened. Root dies, John Dies, Harold goes off to find Grace. In the end it’s Fusco, Shaw and Bear. The ending we see is what HAS to happen, because it’s the only scenario in which the Machine beats Samaritan.
Best Ending. Official ending was A) too abrupt, and B) too damned sad (Reese & Root didn't have to die). I like your simulation idea as it holds thematically with established plot devices from the show.
Personally, I think I would have preferred if Harold and Reese had died. I think I would have appreciated it more, had Root and Shaw been forced to continue because it would show a really nice parallel to the beginning, especially since both Root and Shaw were essentially taught about the value of human life by Harold and Reese. For them to lose their "moral compasses" and continue would have been more compelling than Harold's story.
Much as I like the way this ending is put together and might wish this was the ending, if they had ended like this the internet would have exploded with HOW DID THEY WIN and accusing the writers of bottling it and not actually ending the show. They'd also already played the 'just a simulation' card earlier in the show so I don't think they'd want to pull the same trick again. instead what we got was a win for the good guys and a redemption story for Root and Reese. We know there are at least one more team out there from the final episodes so the story could be continued at a later date if they wanted, but I think the actual ending was a much more faithful ending to the series than this happy ending. The last few episodes did seem a rush but throughout the last series they were saying that once a cover was blown, all their covers would cascade and they would be visible, to do otherwise would have negated the premise they had set up.
Its May 2021 .... Just finished the last season...how did I never stumbled upon this show before?,only god knows.. now that I've been through this masterpiece ... I take the privilege to resonate with the vibes of all who loved this show to its core... Its not just a SciFi fiction but a philosophically rich and moral based piece of art.... ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ This show deserves a season finale... 🙏🏼 Please consider producers 🙏🏼
I’m late to this show, but oh my god this is the ending I’ve been longing for months now :(( this was edited so beautifully, thank you for this closure to the series
The Machine was right in the end: they are NOT interchangeable ... which is why it would be a cast-iron bitch to try to recreate this series with new participants. The powerful chemistry evinced by the cast of _Person of Interest_ makes for one of the most amazing and entertaining ensembles I have ever seen ... PERIOD.
Thank you so much for this man... I just finished the series... I am very late I know... but this is one of the best things I have seen in 2020... this was needed... I will always miss this show!
The whole season 6 could have been just another freaking simulation. This could be the starting point of a seventh season, where they all work as hard as they can and beat Samaritan together in one pieace. This could be a way of returning the show back to the whole cast, including Elias. The most intelligent show I've ever watched, with the most impecable cast. There's just sooo much potential to it still nowadays.
I agree with you! I can’t believe I didn’t think of this, I mean ever since root died I haven’t been able to watch anymore or even the actual death because it makes me cry for too long, it’s like I grew attached to the characters and it is like absolute heartbreak. I would like to believe that it’s another simulation.
I could not agree more. Astounding ending. I love how POI is open to many different interpretations of how it continues past the final (CBS) episode. And who knows, maybe it'll be rebooted someday...we can only hope.
Amazing. POI have left me speechless, and bring it to an end breaks my heart. However your edited have gave me so hope. This idea is great and I think if it was to be used, it would work out really well. I really hope POI might be rebooted in the future.
From a story perspective it would be horrible. We already had some simulations where people die. Any more and we couldnt believe anything happening on screen anymore. We would just stop caring when characters die because "Its just anoher sim" And when it isnt its too late to make us feel anything about the characters death.
@@konradplatt3833 I think if the series had an open end like the final scene as this video it would have been so good. It would have given Root's quote "Life is just a simulation" a whole new other meaning :)

I know the ending was written in a way that was supposed to be an intelligent and thoughtful ending for Reese, but I still don't feel that Root and John needed to die. I also love the parables that liken each character to Chess pieces; the Machine being King, Root being Queen, Shaw and Reese are the rooks and Harold and Carter are bishops, inflexible but in the right circumstances and employed correctly a very deadly and powerful piece. I prefer the idea that the "real" ending was a simulation, and that the Machine found a way to keep them all alive and still defeated Samaritan in the process.
Couldn't have said it in a better way !! I choose to believe the same- the real ending was a simulation and we all got the redemption we desired, with every critical asset intact!
No series touched me as deeply as PoI. 5 times I look and hardly find distracting elements of sci fi. Every time I see new aspects of life philosophy. Thank You Johnatan Nolan for the thoughtful content of this story about people. The casting and acting are amazing, the direction and camera are excellent. Great work! I would like to see sequel, but I understand that time has passed and it couldn't be better.
I absolutely loved the ending of PoI... but this is beautiful stuff. You've really captured the essence of the show, just as much as the 'real' ending did. Wonderful work. This should be an extra on the official season 5 DVD! Well DONE.
Never has an edit made me happier than this right now. Amazing work. I felt so many old emotions run through me when the 0 turned into a 1. This show will never be forgotten. Outstanding characters, plot, scenes and so on. In my mind I know the original ending is the real one and that the ultimate sacrifice definitely had to be payed but in my heart your ending will always be a safe keeper of hope, something to ease the pain, something to keep the memories alive. Thank you👏
This is now my headcanon ending. Amazing choice on Xx Intro for the ending song, and that simulation calculator turning from 0 vs eleventy billion to 1, just 1.... chills, bro. Well done.
Wow. The song that starts at 5:23 is awesome. Perfect for the rest of the clip. And the part where they all meet under the bridge is probably my favorite scene, too, so music matched to video is absolutely perfect. Thanks! I really enjoyed watching these 800-plus video clips. I had never heard of PoI before, so this was a real treat. Amazing to read people's comments and see how emotionally invested they got in the show. Thank you all for posting all these clips!!
I will now consider this the real ending of the series, since they're not bringing it back, and it ended too suddenly for a proper ending. Thank you, you've done a great work here!
Agreed. I cycle back to this video often. If they would have selected this as their series finale I have little doubt the show would be talked about as one of the greatest ever (even though I already feel that way).
I know the writers had to rush together an ending when they found out they wouldn’t get another season. This probably was the ending they would have lead up to, but I refuse to accept that they’d really kill John off in the end. That’s his reward? That’s his ending after everything? I really thought John’s whole arc was about finding a reason and purpose to live again. Maybe if PoI got that next season it would have built up to his sacrifice in a better way.
And usually when people come so far in movies and series etc they don’t usually get killed off, they get what they worked for. This show totally ignored all that.. it makes me really upset, my favourite character was root, I just can’t believe they would kill most of them off. It was nasty. But I’ll just pretend this is the original ending. 🥺
When this show ended, I felt like I had just lost my best friends. I just finished binge-watching the whole show and then I found this. I'll pretend the ending was just another simulation on Shaw's brain and this is how it actually ended. 1 for the machine!!
@@wishfulattempts1916 This show is more relevant today, than it was when it was first broadcast. Also - if I could, I would make it mandatory that everyone binge watch this show during the pandemic; I think there would be a lot less selfish people around, if that were to happen!
I've watched a whole lot of Shoot scenes and get obsessed with these two. And I watched some of episodes too because its concept really attracts me. But knowing that Root died makes me don't want to continue watching the show anymore, at least until I get over her death. I love Root and Shaw's characters so much and they're also perfect for each other in many ways. But Root's death is suck. So sad and unacceptable. It broke my heart just like when my crush denied me. So I pretended all along that in the last episode, it was just another simulation or maybe Samaritan took her and faked her death. And I love that's your video is exactly something like that. It's so so well DONE!!!

It's amazing that the editor made just a simple change narratively but it does so much for the ending. How I wish this was the ending of POI and kudos to you @Wishful Attempts!
Even on my deathbed I will genuinely believe that this is the intended ending because it would have allowed the writers to pick it up again, if POI were to be renewed.
I hope it isnt. It got a perfect ending. and the worst thing to happen to any show is that it gets worse and worse just to end up in nonrelevant and while only the die hard fans still watch it to remember how great it once was. Happend to Lost or walking dead and so many more. The most important part of a story is its ending. But its also the hardest part. And Poi did a perfect job here. everything was forshadowed heavily like Reeses Hero Complex or Harolds darker side.
@@konradplatt3833 I felt like season 4 slowed down too much and had too little progression and more importantly the writers gave all the bad ass moments to the women. They basically wrote John out of the story. This is where it went downhill trying to make the whole show about women power. John became a sidekick in his own show. They also gave the AI a voice far too late at the end of season 4. It should have been at least half way through S4 or the start so the audience could connect more with it before it died. The way they presented it, it basically said I love you for the first time to Finch then next second dead. Such bad writing after S3 sabotaging their own show. But at least we got an end that fits. Though would have carried for more weight if the AI didn't die S4 had a "voice" earlier S4 and died for the first time end of S5. And adopted a physical voice when it did and after Root died. That would have carried a lot of weight.
I sort of relive the moments when the theme starts. It's become the best show I've ever watched and a video as this gives me no choice. This ending would mean a lot to the fans. Thank you for this. Flawless edits ♥️

Excellent video! Years later ... Sorcerer Supreme Doctor Strange runs through 14 million possible futures for one Avengers victory scenario. The Machine is run through 10 Billion strategies to get one elusive victory. I'd say Doctor Strange didn't look hard enough. "There are no measurements in infinity. You humans have got such limited little minds." The Doctor
I love this show and the cast, crew and characters of this show. Flawless victory in every way. I especially loved how Root became on of the good ones, I knew her character deserved much better. All the actors did an excellent job. Everyone was awesome and missed.
After watching and rewatching this series many times, I discovered this clip on YT. I really enjoyed this ending. I like how in this ending, the 1 win, out of all those simulations, the machine only considered it a win; when all of them live. It fits so well with the episode, Root Path, where Root realizes the extent the Machine will go to save people.
Thanks for this posting. I binge watched the entire POI run ten times before having to set it aside. Absolutely the best series I have ever wstched on tv. It got better every season and the three part conclusion of Season 5 was the most moving summation of what it means to be human. Time for another ninge watch. A symphony that builds and builds...
They can bring people back. And the show. By pretending the ending was just a simulation and that there is another way.... then boooom go forward from that .. but I do like how some of the people they saved came back to help them out and the machine. That too could go into a reboot
Probably nobody is reading this, but, Finch, Sameen and Fusco survived. The Machine was reinstalling back its juice, so, the series should obviously continue. This show was brilliant! Don’t let it die. 👨🏻💻
Wrong, someone of a special nature just read this after you typed it. LOL. I want the Big Guy back. God, I so loved this show. The characters had honor and dignity beyond means to do what they had to do. Some learned a few things along the way, but all had different personalities, yet they all saw the pure good in each other. The irony is AI forcing humanity to realize itself to make it better.
@@thetopsec1432technically, they didn’t show Reese on the building when missile strikes, and they didn’t shown him bleed out before the strike.
2019 and this series is still one of my most recommended shows...i truly love the characters...
I completely feel the same way.
Me too
January 2020 and Netflix still has the complete series...already been through it twice.
still my favourite in 2020
Just watched the whole thing for the 1st time and my god it's good
I'm not usually one for fan-made alternate endings and such, perhaps because in a lot of cases they just slice up scenes to make new dialogue but yours... this was incredible. And I appreciated the work you put into all the little details, this seems so well done I wish POI would help push it out into the world. Really, incredible job
Wow, no words... thanks a million!! (and for considering the little things!)
I've watched this show, in completion, about 12 times. It's so masterfully written.
Actually, due to writing strike. And change of writers. The battle between the two A I's never happened . You got the changes in a different way.
Me too! I have all 5 seasons on dvd & watch & rewatch! I have many old tv series on dvd as the newer ones are awful!
@@KonservativeKimfor real.
One of the few shows that I didn't mind the ending. Wished they would have kept it going. They could bring it back.
@@konradplatt3833
"To have them all die and make it a simulation. AGAIN? We would have never trusted the episodes again and we wouldnt have felt so heavily about the deaths later on."
What deaths "later on"?
THIS IS THE MOST PERFECT 'FAN' VIDEO I HAVE EVER SEEN.

I''ve watched the whole show over and over again (got the DVDs) and at the end, there's that inevitable single tear after the Machine is uploaded to that satellite. That being said, this alternate ending is so masterful and I'm sure it's one we fans would have liked. Thanks for posting it.

Endgame before there was Endgame...
I actually really liked this version better. As I watched the aired finale, I thought something like this would happen because I couldn't imagine the Machine letting Root die. Thank you for taking the time to make it. ❤️
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on it, I appreciate it!
Agree Reese got a bad poor deal at the end...
Sam Pinson Good point. I still think of it as one and just pretend Reese survived at least
heck yeah, that ending was depressing. And yes, don't think root should have died either, she was my favorite since the beginning.
This show deserves a season finale... 🙏🏼 Please consider producers 🙏🏼
It's June 2023, I ask the same question and wish it was still going...
Same here
🥺
I’m late to this show, but oh my god this is the ending I’ve been longing for months now :(( this was edited so beautifully, thank you for this closure to the series
I miss them too. Thank you for your kind words!
Rewatching the show in lockdown and finding this, this alternate ending gave me peace and closure with the show, wow
Did you really edit this? If so, congratulations.
You are a primary asset.
Thanks! That’s an honor hehe, took quite some time to make!
Very good editing. Definitely one possible ending.
I could not agree more. Astounding ending. I love how POI is open to many different interpretations of how it continues past the final (CBS) episode. And who knows, maybe it'll be rebooted someday...we can only hope.
+LucTheRedstoner Can't wait to see any deleted scenes there may be.

Amazing. POI have left me speechless, and bring it to an end breaks my heart. However your edited have gave me so hope. This idea is great and I think if it was to be used, it would work out really well. I really hope POI might be rebooted in the future.
Knowing it gave hope and relief, makes me the happiest… a huge thank you!! POI is one of a kind!
It would have given Root's quote "Life is just a simulation" a whole new other meaning :)
you made this???
its INSANELY well done
i got goosebumps, i got hyped, i wanted to see more, it was perfect
i looked and didnt find anything, pls give me more somehow

thank you and i cant emphasize enough how well and convincing this all is done
What if it was all a simulation
“How many did you see?”
“Fourteen million, six hundred and five”
“How many did we win?”
“One”
“There could only be one Sherlock Holmes”
“I am iron man”
“???!!!?!?”
After Snowden, COVID and other stuff, who dares calling this sci fi.
Thank you👏
Thank YOU :)
Absolutely loved POI. Best series ever!!

This is now my headcanon ending. Amazing choice on Xx Intro for the ending song, and that simulation calculator turning from 0 vs eleventy billion to 1, just 1.... chills, bro. Well done.
This was beautiful, thanks for you effort in this.
Thank you!!
The show has continued in real life we are in today.
Agreed. I cycle back to this video often. If they would have selected this as their series finale I have little doubt the show would be talked about as one of the greatest ever (even though I already feel that way).
Just found this, and I have to say I am a more than a little emotional after watching it, especially that final scene. Bravo sir or madam, bravo.
I'm the one being emotional for all your kind comments, this "madam" can't thank you enough!!
.
Never thought the philosophy would be so high in a tv show of technological warfare.
Very nice. Thank you. I just finished watching the whole series for the 4th time. I love your ending.

When this show ended, I felt like I had just lost my best friends. I just finished binge-watching the whole show and then I found this. I'll pretend the ending was just another simulation on Shaw's brain and this is how it actually ended. 1 for the machine!!
Thank you! Even today, after all this time, it's hard to let this show go. I'm glad it grants you a little bit of a more hopeful closure :)

Miss this show so much! Can’t be replaced.
They still can even with the ending that was shown....I feel that Shaw and bear are out in New York finding numbers aiding the machine.
I hope it isnt. It got a perfect ending. and the worst thing to happen to any show is that it gets worse and worse just to end up in nonrelevant and while only the die hard fans still watch it to remember how great it once was.
Happend to Lost or walking dead and so many more.

"gets worse and worse just to end up in *nonrelevant* "
Pun intended? That's the whole plot of the show :P
Very, very nice. Really hopefully, really beautiful. Thanks for doing this. I started to crying again. :'(
