- SpongeBob SquarePants is getting an official Nickelodeon restaurant. While The Krusty Krab is the main setting of Bikini Bottom in the SpongeBob episodes, Nickelodeon is taking a new direction for real life. What can we expect from the first SpongeBob restaurant?

Only problem is, Stephen Hillenburg absolutely HATED the idea of opening a real restaurant with fast food to serve to children. He said on quote, "We worked with Burger King, and they make toys and watches, but to actually take the step of pushing the food, that's crossing the line. I dont want to be the Pied Piper of fast food."
I think part of the reason also is that they don't want to ruin the Krabby Patty image. Some people expect it to taste like heaven like in the show, and would get severely disappointed if the real thing was sub-par.
That makes sense considering how uncomfortable he was with the scale of his legacy after seeing a mere gumball machine. Nickelodeon just loves to trample over a good man's modest wishes.

FINALLY! SOMETHING IN BRAZIL!!! I live here and the only events from the US in here is Comic Con, and only in some places. Hopefully that’ll be a big chain of restaurants.
I am not surprised for two reasons
1. SpongeBob is like Nickelodeon’s own version of Mickey Mouse
2. This wouldn’t be the first time that a cartoon owned by Viacom got its own restaurant. South Park did it last year when they took over Casa Bonita in Colorado.

Quick correction! Your pronunciation of "Bob Esponja" is closer to Spanish than Portuguese. In reality it'd sound a bit closer to "Bob EsponGIA" if it were to be Italian... even just going with the regular English "J" sound wouldn't be too far off. Nice video! It's a sad thing though that old fanmade Krusty Krab replica from Palestine is no longer with us...
Honestly i didnt expect the first ever krusty krabs restaurant being made in brazil. But im glad we Brazillians are getting one. (Im also brazillian)

In Portuguese the j sound is not the same as the Spanish j sound. When you say “bob esponja” you should to pronounce the j as the ZH-/ʒ/ sound. As an example in English it can be found when you pronounce the “s” in the words: pleasure, leisure or vision.

I live in Kazakhstan. And in our shopping mall there was Krusty krab Bootleg restaurant mall. There were spongebob and other characters' toys and television with commercials in Spongebob show style.

I can't remember where it was, but I remember there was some place that made a Spongebob restaurant modeled after the Krusty Krab. I belive it got shutdown since it wasn't official. Another thing about the Krabby Patty is that it's actually a vegetarian burger made with seaweed (since there's no meat in the ocean other than fish) so I don't imagine a restaurant would prioritise a vegetarian burger for their main dish.

You know Food Theory guessed the actual recipe of the Krabby Patty formula right? Somebody’s gonna try to make a real one someday if not already just to try it out
I mean, many people have already made their own Krabby Patties online, with great success. Plus, I don't think people's expectations will be hampered as long as the burgers are made well. Many real burger restaurants make great burgers that most people love, just like in the show. Those burgers can be essentially like real-life Krabby Patties.
If the place served gourmet, well-made food, they could get away with making a real-life Krabby Patty that DOES taste like "heaven."

I like it how The Good Burger from arbys fell really flat, so their next idea is making a spongebob themed restaurant. That does sound cool, i doubt itll be casa bonita levels of cool (especially on price vs experience), but this is post-stephen hildenburg, anything goes as long as you have the licencing rights

I heard that there’s a real life Krusty Krab in Houston, Texas but it got taken down a few years due to it being sued by Paramount.

This gives me conflicted feelings. On the one side, this is very cool in concept, and it sounds like a really fun place to visit. On the _other_ side... Stephen Hillenburg said he never wanted a real Krusty Krab or Krabby Patties to be made, to preserve the image you would have of them in your mind. Although the higher ups ignoring his wishes isn't surprising to me at all at this point...

I mean...people have already solved the Krabby Patty's formula and ingredients, but I guess for one thing, the varied tastes (literally and figuratively) of people won't always enjoy the Krabby Patty if it was real.
Also, the popularity of Spongebob is a double-edged sword. Even if it goes against Hillenburg's wishes after his death, this would bring A LOT of people and maybe even make some childhood dreams come true and inspire more children's dreams as well.
