    60pc set was 1st thing I bought when my in law passed down all his brushed tools. Bought the 70pc impact set later on. Still have them for small projects here and there. Good enough for me

    Just bought this drill and the 31 pc drilling and driving kit from home depot yesterday.
    The drill seems alright, but I had the 1/8 inch black oxide drill bit break on me first day using it! Just drilling into the wall. Also, the magnetic bit holder extender has a wobble to it.
    Definitely would agree to upgrade on the accessories.

    Nice video review for dIYer and new home owners trying save cash. People need to know that there are some good tools at great prices for non tradesmen. 👍

      Absolutely bro. I can't see spending $400 on a tool that you would use a few times a year, and Ryobi is a trusted line, so its a great buy.

    For home/DYI Ryobi got a huge range of affordable tools. I like the Bosch green line (Im European), but they dont have as much tools as ONE+ platform. Around 12 tools for Bosch Green 18V lineup and 100 for Ryobi ONE+ (according to their site). Plus I like the option that older tools run on newer batteries. Thats a big respect from a manufacturer. Im selling my Bosch 18V and will be swapping for Ryobi in near future.

    • @ToolReviewZone

      Ryobi sometimes takes some heat for staying with the stem style battery, but like you just said Michael, that allows the users to use newer and older tools without needing a new battery.

      Regardless of this review, wouldn’t it be better for you to use a corded drill for a hole saw bit? I mean, corded drills have more umph to them.

    • @ToolReviewZone
      @ToolReviewZone  3 года назад +1

      Not really. Battery powered tools came a long long way and in many cases more power than corded.

    I completely agree about the bits! I always use Bosch spade bits. Last July needed a quick set to get me through a small project. Home Depot had the 130 pcs for $20 and still good as new.
    Does the bigger battery affect the performance?

      Oh, no. The bit wobbles. It’s not that big of a deal, sir. Did it get the job done? Yes? Then, it worked as intended...for the DIY guy/gal.

    This was actually a very good idea for a video, you should have demoed more bits Those spade bits did just fine and cut pretty fast. Spade bits are not for precision drilling, nor is a hand-held drill motor. Those sets are probably fine for the casual DIYer and they occasionally go on sale for a very attractive price, but they are not good quality. The drill bits dull fast and it's easy to strip or snap the driver bits. If someone wants quality bits, look for kits from Dewalt, Bosch or Milwaukee.

    Did you see Dewalt is dropping 4 new tools? With power detect technology. All 20volt XR tools, a Circ saw, Sawzall, 5” grinder, and hammer drill. Looks pretty cool. Lowe’s should be carrying them soon. I saw them only available through the Dewalt website. They got that 8Ah batter and fast charger in kits for all 4 tools.

    Thank you for sharing Clint you the man I got the 31 pc drilling and driver kit I got about 2 years ago for like $8.00 the black oxide drill bits are okay the Spade bits are so so Brad point bits are ok I have DeWalt Brad point the masonry bits are okay too actually that's why I want to get cuz the masonry I just needed them for a quick job I didn't have my Ridgid hammer drill yet I've have since replaced them with better quality you know I haven't said a spade bits from the tachi old school ones I never use them yet but their Sharp as anything if I didn't have my Ridgid kit I probably buy this

  • @ericruhlmann6817

    Got started with the ryobi platform when I was gifted one of their 6 or 7 piece kits, and I've never had an issue with the tools. Sure, there are better ones out there, but the ryobi have always gotten the job done. However, I cannot stand their driver bits. I have that kit that came with the hole saw, and while the drill bits do a great job, the driver bits are garbage (in my experience).

    • @geoffstrickler
      @geoffstrickler 4 года назад +1

      I agree with Eric, but with the caveat that the smaller drill bits break easily, and none of their drill bits last as long as better brands like Bosch, Milwaukee, or even DeWalt (I personally don’t like DeWalt). I would even recommend HF Bauer over Ryobi bits. The Ryobi power tools are fine for DIY or even lighter duty pro use, but I don’t recommend any of their bits. Sure, a Milwaukee set may cost a little more, for fewer bits, but they’ll be the bits you are likely to use, and they will last much longer and do a better job. Much better value, IMHO, even for a DIY user.

      Ray Sawyer I’m curious why you say that. Have you used them and they didn’t do a good job, or just because they aren’t as good as higher priced tools?

    I love the Ryobi cordless tools. I have a bunch. But if you're building decorative bird houses or something simple, these bits will be fine. If you're doing anything remotely like work, these bite the big one. In other words, they suck.
