One year ago, we dived into the Halloween season with, well, of course John Carpenter’s magnificent minimalistic score for his 1978 hit with the same name. This year we will take a listen to one of his most appreciated music contributions, including a theme, which clearly comes from the same spirit as the Halloween Theme but which seems to have a more frightening and cold touch to it. It, and the rest of the minimalistic score perfectly set the tone to Carpenter’s fright-ride, which is simply known as “The Fog”, starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Janet Leigh, John Houseman and other familiar faces. Happy Halloween!
Hi - there seems to be some variation to the original score of the film and what you have posted. I have a full score from the original film print. Would be happy to share with you if you need it. Cheers !
@@rajkumarrajamani4811 Hello Rajkumar and thank you for your thoughts. Indeed this are the cues as recorded for the film (not the album) but for the flow and structure of this suite they have been mixed together, sometimes over quite some time and the result is a presentation of two cues mixed together. That's why it doesn't seem to be exactly what is heard in the movie. Thank you very much for your words and all the best! Fred
Stephen. I agree with soundtrack Fred. The Fog 1980 is minimalistic in its approach which makes it's even more frightening with it's music and CLASSIC film. Bravo John Carpenter.
Few cinematic composers can achieve so much with synths and such. Carpenter is one, Angelo Badalamenti is another. "The Fog" remains one of my favorite supernatural thrillers. There is something about it that makes it a film that I have gone back to many times, much more than "Halloween" ... and that's saying something.
“The Fog”! ❤️ Thank you, Soundtrack Fred! This is not only one of my fave movies by John Carpenter, it’s one of my fave horror soundtracks. Unfortunately, I don’t have the album soundtrack, but now.....Thanks to you....I can listen to this beautiful suite. 🥰
I remember hanging out with my friends and we decided to go see this movie in a drive-in. Creeped us out with the storyline. Thanks for uploading this one and Happy Halloween Everyone, 😨😱😨... 👻 Ruby*
I remember getting the bumper sticker for this film when it came out to the theater the movie theater staff was giving them out I was 10 or 11 yrs old I didn’t see the movie til,it came out on Hbo. Fun memories great soundtrack thanks John
Exciting performance of this a little threatening suite with various sound of all the instrument. The intelligent composer/conductor leads the highly functional orchestra in a changeable tempo and with carefully controlled dynamics. Everything is first-rate!
@soundtrackfred thank you so much for uploading this. There are so many versions of this soundtrack, I didn't know what to get. This has all the main themes I was looking for. Is this your personal edit?
Hello friend, yes, it is my personal edit, making use of the complete (film version) score and trying to fit the some prominent cues it into a 15 minute presentation. Best wishes! Fred
@@1969atiq Thank you! I used the Silva Screen Records SILCD1301 release (as pictured in the video and listed in the description). It is the prominent two disc release, featuring the original soundtrack album on the first- and the complete film version on the second disc. We focused on the film versions. Dissolving pieces into each other was necessary for this video, as some cues would end abruptly and we tried to give a "nonstop" and fluid experience. :-)
Bellissimo non mi stancherei mai di ascoltare e vedere il film.
Un film meraviglioso.
Che bei te.pi
The music made this movie so good. One of my all time favorite movies
My all-time favorite horror movie. Thank you. 😉👍
Ditto! I love the storyline on this one. Happy Halloween, 👻🎃👻...
@@rubysparrow479 Thank you! Same to you. 🦇🕷️🕸️🎃
Very powerful and beautifully timeless
Fred,
Thanks for this eerie & atmospheric theme to John Carpenter's horror masterpiece 'The Fog'!
John Carpenter The Fog im Nebel des Grauen 👻🎃ein Meisterwerk 👌🎹👍

Are these the pirates of the Caribbean after breathing air in the Us
I had no idea John Carpenter composed the music. That's insane

I recall seeing this in the theater a couple of times, and Carpenter's music is as much a character as any of the other people in the film.
The music 🎶 is alive 😊 hauntingly.

Uno dei migliori lavori di John Carpenter, che hanno reso inconfondibile il suo stile💀👍🏻

I hear the exorcist mixed with Halloween . amazing
great for a funeral theme song...
Music for today's shopping 🛒 at the supermarkets , the price of everything 😊😂😂

@@SoundtrackFred that's terrific! May I ask what version soundtrack you used? Did you dissolve one piece into the other?

Bonne idée 💡
I think Carpenter was influenced by the soundtrack of Phantasm in the main theme of this. Which is fine by me.
Pls add more horror film soundtracks. ..............
Looks like a southwest airlines terminsl
Stephen. I Love the 1980 The Fog. I Love John Carpenter. And Adrienne Barbeau. The remake is garbage..
