Great stuff. I just bought a K91000 and wish I'd seen this first! Although I'm more than happy with the power output of the bike. GSX-R's rock my world!
Just had a full race prepared and refreshed ex-BSB K9 GXSR 1000 dynoed. Max bhp 202.79 at 13,320 rpm and Max torque 87 ft lb at 11128 rpm. This was on a fully tested dyno. The engine is very trick. Another K7 race prepared bike produced 172 bhp (same dyno), and it is a very quick machine on the track. All at the back wheel, of course.
K6 and K8 look the best! I would love to put K8 headlight on k6! To me the headlight is the only place lacking style wise on the K^. K6 was the last REAL all motor 1000, IMO.
last year i did 4 formula extreme super stock GSX-R 1000 k8s with 186hp and two super sport GSX-R 600 k8s with 135 HP at the back wheel the 1000s had full systems, power commanders, bmc air filters and i ran them in on the dyno the motors where stock not the 600s. at the end of the year i pulled 3 engines down to check them out and they where perfect.
I had a K8 and tried a K9. The K9 is a much better bike, the handling is much better (curves) and the motor is awesome compared to K8. With the K8 I had to change sprockets (15/45) to make it easy to wheelie in second gear. Now on my K9 I use standard sprockets and it is even more wheelie friendly in second gear!!! I just need to hit the gas at around 6000 rpm and up she comes so easy.
This seems weird to me, maybe your k8 was low on power because mine was on stock gearing and at about 6500rpm it would pop wheelies without clutch and without much effort (no need to yank the bike) but mine was ecu flashed tho
I LOVE I T!!! I have a 749 R and i will be trading it for an 1198s and i will be trucking it straight to you . Finally a guy who understands the way a bike should be run in . Cause int he states this is the only way its done .
@MaxPower Performance Motorcycles ..My B-King has Bodis exhaust - Powercomm.5 and X-TRE ...it has 179,58hp/rearwheel now...it's also tuned on the DynoJet... :-)
Dyno's are really different even depending on what the dyno guy does. Yesterday my buddy and i took our gsxrs to the dyno his is a 2014 and it made 157.12whp my 08 made 159.88whp those numbers look low because he never forced air into the ram air ducts and if you didnt know thats almost a 20hp loss without not to mention it was done on a 98 degree day with insane humidity here in florida. Anyway we left and did a smack down on the hwy and i left him. Point being different dynos read different and conditions determine numbers too especially if no air is being forced in the ducts.
Only saying that as I've had engine work done on my gsxr k81000 by crescent. Cylinder head has been gas flowed, it has a lightened & balanced crank, forged pistons, full micron exhaust including headers, Dna race filter. It was 157rwhp before work and after work it is hitting between 180rwhp & 183rwhp on various dyno machines.
@Skineo i think he might have messed up on this i watched one of his other videos dynoing a k8 1000 with a full racefit exhaust, power commander(custom mapped) and K&N air filter and it put out 174 hp. Stock was only 164
it sounds about right, bikes here in australia are less restricted with that being said though we are also running 98 octane fuel from the servo as our best pump gas, i don't know what you guys are running in the U.S. they also just released 100octane fuel from the servo in my area recently i wanna get my bike tuned to that and see the difference
continue i change the oil after 200ks and 800ks no oil usage , no piston bore wear, no bearings wear all in spec. i left the other motors alone and they are still going this year, i just replaced the clutches. two of the 1000s won the championship check it out brayden & tom. i have two customers one with a CBR1100XX ,has 100,000ks on it & a VFR800 VTEC with 124,000KS still going strong. believe me or not ï don't care i know its all true its my pasion & people who know will back me up ;)
for everyone who thinks the dyno is wrong it's not but the reason it seems like it's making big hp is that he did the dyno run in 5th gear instead of top gear you can clearly see it at 2 min 46 sec
hey mate, I'm up in the N.T so wont be able to get down there but are there any tips you can give with breaking in a new Gixxer 1000, without giving away your secret.. I have heard conflicting stories, the old manufacturers way of baby it keeping it under 6k RPM or the ride it like you stole it method of higher RPMs and letting the motor slow you down. Any tips would be great.
nothing is wrong mate, you just have to think out side the square i just tuned and dynoed a k10 gsxr 1000 with a yoshi full system std air filter and it put out 166 HP and 106 NM of torque. it was run in on the street had 1000ks on it did the service at the same time any way when i run them in on the dyno i get my HP I've proved it every time.
I have a K8 and a I'm bit disappointed that the K9 is a few Hp less even with bit more tourque. To make things worse the Suzuki sale man in my area told me the new K9 had 15Hp more than the K8 lol. LIES. Still its a hot looking bike, I might wait a few generations and see what they can really do with the new motor designes. The Suzuki power and power deliverence sets it apart from the others. I love Suzuki :)
BTW, you'll get 180 bhp from a K9 if you fit a race exhaust system and a Bazzazz full system for tuning. But not from a stock bike - with a Catalytic converter!
i have a k8 which is same spec to aus here in SA and has a full front to back yoshi titanium, filter and shifter and mapped and i push 171rwhp, the going rate is 160 to 170. i think the power out puts you pushing is at the crank or are you at sea level? that can see up to a 25% gain in power!? interesting figures never the less!
Hi not all bikes have theses numbers,. For example when I run in a GSXR1000 K7- K8 on the dyno Im getting 181 to 183 hp at the back wheel, the bikes off the street that come in for exhaust systems ,mapping of power commanders etc, that had around 2,000ks - 10,000ks on them. the before and after power runs I did would show they put out 166 to 171 hp stock before the mods and 176-178 after the mods.I wish I had filmed all the others bikes that I ran in. C DYNO GRAPHS ON OUR WEBSITE cheers Steve
true. i've seen bikes with less hp but can still out race the one with the big power. not all, but some! now, if you get a guy with insane skills in the twisty, the most skillful with only a ninja 250 will always beat a person with no skills on a 1000. of course, on the straights, there's no contest. big engine always win.
I have a K8 GSXR 1000 which i run in as per the owners booklet, as i did with my last bike, a K4 Bandit 1200. I go for the run it in as per the manufacturers instructions approach. It's the manufacturers that design and build the motors so I go with their recommendations. I'm not a circuit racer, so if it makes 180 bhp or 170 bhp it's not a big deal to me. I just want a fast, reliable bike that I can have a bit of fun on, so far as running it in is concerned, I'm a by the book man...SORRY!!!
funny, cause it only takes 10 minutes for the rings to set properly. the first 10 minutes of your motor running is it's most crucial you want a good load on the engine, not too high or too low rpm, so put good pressure on the rings.
I have a K8 but I'm not suprised the K9 power is a tad less than the K8. Could be one of two reasons. One new generation motor so first gen motor may be a tad less on the HP. Second roadability the K8 is a pretty touchy beast that wants to kill you, they may have drop the HP for roadability reasons making the bike easier to handle?
I have to agree with some of the comments, that dyno is very keen, none of the bike mags over here in the UK have tested standard gixxer thous with 180 at the wheel come on !! please?? also, a bike is run in at 200 km??? sorry that just doesn't wash with me, i am a motor engineer and so is my father, we've always had bikes, new and old, and have always done at least 600 miles, then had the first service done before thrashing them, it makes sense, the rings need to bed in properly..
@ricoj3056 It has to be a difference. The GSXR 1000's in US only max out at 155-159 at the wheel. The only 1000 that gets to 180 at the wheel is the BMW S1000rr.
wait, i think i know why your bike is getting over 180+hp. comparing the australian models to a U.S. model, it must be the different emissions and ECU. that could be it, right? i know in the U.S. that the bike are more restricted to aggressive emissions. what do you think? cause i know that the new 2011 zx10r is different from the european to the U.S. the U.S. get about 165 compare to the european's 175+hp. is that right?
@Wormanatti so who is going to let me run a bike in on there dyno and whos bike are we using which has to be new with no ks. i think it would be cheaper to use my dyno, you can bring a bike to test my dyno plus you can have another party use my dyno to test the bikes or have people there when i do runs to make sure im not fudging. my dyno is correct it gets tested every year when i get my new tunning link software
At first i was thinking it was bs. However. The bikes over seas are way more powerful than the bikes in the usa. If you got the money, its best to buy a bike straight from japan or over seas period.
I haven't changed my K8. The reason is, today, in Australia, the Police (Government) like to steal your bike from you if you are Hooning. It's not a Racing Bike so I leave it alone. ;)
My good friend THERE IS NO WAY a STOCK GSXR puts 180 on the wheel..My GSXR K7 stock put 161 on the wheel..Lets say that 2009 puts around 170..But 180??No way..
YEA he said 0km but then he ran it on the dyno for 200km. as he stated at 1:38 sec. Plus new bikes with the tecnology in the engine really dont need long breakins!! Its all how you are comfortable with what you do to your own machine. After only 100miles on mine i road the shit out of it and there is no problems. The strock of the engions are so short that after around 50 miles your rings seat. Also the low RPM acceleration are harder on a new engine, being that they are ment for high revs...
@noobriderone i have a k7 184rwhp full yosh twin cans yosh head gasket twin power commanders tre bmc air filter airbox mod pair valve mod ignition module and more to mention its a fun bike but it takes good tunning and head work to make power. stock run on theese bikes are 160hp
must be at or near sea level cause that a lot of hp. We are at 3500 feet and K9 1000's are pulling 167 with a slip on, PC5 and a tune. My bike would probably scare the crap out of me at sea level lol
@Wormanatti I've got my $1,000 here waiting for that bet ,180hp on a stock gsxr1000 2007-10 australian model which is brand new with no ks on the clock and then run in my way for 200ks ,no problem.............
look im not here to re invent the wheel or bull shit ,friends of mine told me to do this put this on utube they said, right i kind of wish i didnt theres always some one out there who has to be negative i have done alot of research on this i have built alot of engines and when i started running theses bikes in like i do.i have only tried this on late model bikes you have to think out side the square sometimes the engineering and materials theses days on late model bike are so surpreme.
This is crazy. It’s like trying to talk to someone who doesn’t believe in climate change. Or a flat Earther. Bro I hope after all these years and available online literature and YT videos you finally realize we are all right about the HP figures. Nobody has gotten over 165whp out of one of these bikes stock.
The Race bike puts out that kind of power for sure. No STOCK Gsxr 1000 comes even near 180 at the wheel. The numbers are more like in the 160's. Those numbers are more like BMW 1000rs numbers. I got a $1000 that proves this guy is wrong or his dyno was acting up that day. I've seen far too many dyno stats on manufactors sites AS WELL as company exhaust sites to prove the Gixxer is in the 160's. I seen what the BMW did to this bike in the straight. 180 NO WAY!
I've seen the results of poorly run in motors, scored bores, excessive oil use etc, its no good for road bikes where you need good engine life, race bikes are another story, their motors are being stripped and re-freshed often.
SORRY MAN BUT I CALL MAJOR BULL CRAP ..YOU NEED TO CALIBRATE YOUR DYNO BADLY ..I HAVE A K5 1000 WITH A SLIP ON AND STOCK ECU AND I BEAT MY BUDDIES K7 1000 BY A HALF A BIKE LENGTH EVERY TIME AND HES MODDED ..HE DYNOED 166 HORSES AND 77 FT LBS ... IM SURE MY BIKE IS LOW 160'S
@WhiteFireeee Look I have a k7 same as k8 i run a 17/43 525 set up and it runs great I wheelie in third @ 100mph and hold it over a mile plus change lanes check it out hgts3
I'm talking USA numbers & math system. The Gsxr in any year isn't putting nothing over 165 at the wheel. The highest at the wheel numbers come from the BMW & Kawasaki ZX10. I have the proof. Put your money where your mouth is 13Tommy.
He's Dyno is out whack.he add least 10-15 hp to it.i got 2011 cbr1000rr with full bazzaz.full yoshimura exhaust custom map all this bs and come up 158hp other bike I have its 09 gsxr1000 with full Leo Vince corsa power commander and come up 161hp.this guy its full of shit.
(question) could climate, or different countries, or sea level or above sea level have a factor on the h.p and torque? seems high for stock on the dyno you showing. i have k7 with alot of mods and dyno is at 172 hp and 83 torque. not doubting it seen computer or is it possible the mechanic i had do work can improve h.p gains by playing with power comander,or etc.
Great stuff.
I just bought a K91000 and wish I'd seen this first! Although I'm more than happy with the power output of the bike. GSX-R's rock my world!
182 back wheel hp on a stock k8!!!!!! I am doubting these figures, but you never know.
Just had a full race prepared and refreshed ex-BSB K9 GXSR 1000 dynoed. Max bhp 202.79 at 13,320 rpm and Max torque 87 ft lb at 11128 rpm. This was on a fully tested dyno. The engine is very trick. B_M_F_710 u are correct k5 k6 are brilliant. After these they are shit.
Haha I’D love to put a K9 tail on a K6. I like the K6 headlight though.
So glad i got mine last year! The only reason im kicking myself in the ass is because i didnt wait and get the 09 R1!
last year i did 4 formula extreme super stock GSX-R 1000 k8s with 186hp and two super sport GSX-R 600 k8s with

@maxpower9773 im getting my gsxr on friday 0ks jardine, bmc and pc5 what do you reckon lol i got no licence for another month im in syd
Hi thanks for the comment .
you cant go past the k9 1000 its awesome once you get reed of the exhaust and mirrors very cool
its been 9 years. I ope you are going strong mate :)
BTW, you'll get 180 bhp from a K9 if you fit a race exhaust system and a Bazzazz full system for tuning. But not from a stock bike - with a Catalytic converter!

BS!!! I've seen many gixxer 1000's on the Dyno, and they are all around 160rwhp...
Awesome bike! Thanks for vid
@maxpower9773 You got a bet then. We ain't testing on your dyno or using your bike. We are going to go to a reputable site & get the proof.
true. i've seen bikes with less hp but can still out race the one with the big power. not all, but some! now, if you get a guy with insane skills in the twisty, the most skillful with only a ninja 250 will always beat a person with no skills on a 1000. of course, on the straights, there's no contest. big engine always win.

i think it would be cheaper to use my dyno, you can bring a bike to test my dyno plus you can have another party use my dyno to test the bikes or have people there when i do runs to make sure im not fudging.
my dyno is correct it gets tested every year when i get my new tunning link software
@Wormanatti not even 172hp at the wheel seen it with my own eyes
At first i was thinking it was bs. However. The bikes over seas are way more powerful than the bikes in the usa. If you got the money, its best to buy a bike straight from japan or over seas period.

Think you need to calibrate your dyno there man ××
My good friend THERE IS NO WAY a STOCK GSXR puts 180 on the wheel..My GSXR K7 stock put 161 on the wheel..Lets say that 2009 puts around 170..But 180??No way..

That reading is in newton horsepower in Europe
And yup, the torque is expectedly way over as well. 86lbs or 117nm is accurate FROM THE CRANK.
@Wormanatti my 09 with full yosh r77 and tune made 167 to the wheel.... with 3,000kms.
must be at or near sea level cause that a lot of hp. We are at 3500 feet and K9 1000's are pulling 167 with a slip on, PC5 and a tune. My bike would probably scare the crap out of me at sea level lol

look im not here to re invent the wheel or bull shit ,friends of mine told me to do this
put this on utube they said, right i kind of wish i didnt theres always some one out there who has to be negative i have done alot of research on this i have built alot of engines and when i started running theses bikes in like i do.i have only tried this on late model bikes you have to think out side the square sometimes the engineering and materials theses days

well said

@ricoj3056 more restricted the dyno is way off
@suckamc3232 nope dude its an over hp dyno the bikes put ou muich less its a strocker dyno
Some nutters about all that claimed hp and cant use half of it.

My k9 highly tuned puts out 178 rwhp ram air not included
@@felleice I bet you friend likes too much McDonald's and has range anxiety lol
@WhiteFireeee Look I have a k7 same as k8 i run a 17/43 525 set up and it runs great I wheelie in third @ 100mph and hold it over a mile plus change lanes check it out hgts3
I'm talking USA numbers & math system. The Gsxr in any year isn't putting nothing over 165 at the wheel. The highest at the wheel numbers come from the BMW & Kawasaki ZX10. I have the proof. Put your money where your mouth is 13Tommy.
False readings that could be related to many things ..that’s all.

+Firestarter ok.how this guy found 180hp on stock bike.lol
3HP means nothing. At all.
