Buddy!! You dropped a HUGE good news Bomb here💣 Congrats to you and Mrs. Chops on the sale of your current place, that’s fantastic! The new Double Garage Workshop is well deserved!! Mavis and your Stable of beauties deserve the new spacious man cave👍🏻 Gixxer looks phenomenal! The new list of small projects should get you sorted. Next stop, 100k subscribers!!!
Thanks Michael very excited about it!! So many plans 😁😁
@@LambChopRides Hi mate. awesome channel! I have a 8K maximum budget. and after a gsxr. For that price which is the fastest gsxr?
That age gixxer would get a shudder from build up on the rotor. Give them a quick sand and see how it feels.
You deserve 1 million subs mate
Great laugh, great vids and always blinding reviews.
All the best to ya Mr chops 👍
Brilliant content 👌
Thanks Michael 👍 👍
Jon get yourself a brembo master cylinder you'll be suprised the difference it makes...i'v had alot of gsxr's over the years and the master cylinders are crap on them.....i put a brembo on my current one and the braking is excellent...
Yes think Im going to end up having to replace it eventually...
If you haven’t fitted tires yet, the 190/55 will sort out the handling issue. My K6 loves it.
yes it much better at direction changes now
If you have judder the only cure is new pads and disc’s. Brake lines will help with feel but new discs required for the judder. Make sure the mating surfaces are flat. And clean before torquing up the fixings. Bed in gently
Yes, do move, and garage upgrade videos… we are all the same.. nice big garage with a ‘house of some description attached’ is how we view our homes 😂
The stock MC is the source of the lack of brake feel, an RCS19 does improve it significantly, getting aftermarket callipers helps a lot too, I've put Hel Callipers and Mc and honestly the bike finally feels modern in the brakes department.
Stick some SBS RS pads in there and some HEL braided hoses. That buzzing could be pad deposits on the discs from being stood. You can check the runout of the discs using a DTI.
I have had a K7 since Jan, same arrow exhaust, no cat, K&N filter. Can't wait for more content on this bike. Almost done 2.5k miles on mine, I went to look for a 636 and came back with this flipping monster... loving it
Snap!! Great bikes arnt they :- )
Brembo RCS, braided lines, new pads, HM Quickshifter, decent budget rearsets (Valtermoto are good value), suspension setup and maybe some 2nd hand monobloc calipers....perfect track day tool on a budget. Except the same on a K5 of course! 😉
Great vid, love the older stuff. If your valves are tappety then they tend to be OK, it's when they aren't tappety that they need adjusting.
Agreed they tend to tighten up, especially the exhaust valves.
Yes good point!
First thing to do is check both rotor runout and thickness. Check the runout with a clamp on dial indicator. Check the thickness all the way around with good calipers. The rotor should have no differences in thickness the whole way around. Runout should be within spec, usually 0.002". Congrats
They're Amazing bikes.....I'm 52 years old and I just finished rebuilding my K2 Gsxr750.....It brings a lot of memories.
I don’t know why but when you wear those baggy hoodies with what I’m presuming is an armoured vest underneath bulging out, you put me in mind of Herman Munster. 😂
Thanks for making my morning Chopsy 👍🙂
Welcome Nick 👍
I would add a quick shifter with auto downshift and Brembo RCS-19 master cylinder when you do the braided lines
Congrats on hitting 90k subs Chopsy!!! 100k is just around the corner!!
Thanks buddy 👍👍😎
I bought my 2008 fireblade in June 2008. Still got it now and never felt the need to upgrade. Handles beautifully and the brakes are more than I'll ever need.
My "old" bike..it was a true rocket on 2 wheels..
Your neutral light issue isn't actually the neutral light or the side stand sensor. It's the gear position sensor. A common issue with these models and the same issue I'm having on my 600. Keep your eyes on the gearing aswell because this issue can show false gears and give incorrect mapping for the gear you're actually in.
Yes I realised my mistake when I was editing it, its on the back of the engine normally isnt it. Wonder if the switch can be removed out the back of the engine...
@@LambChopRides I'm not too sure pal. Haven't had chance to do mine yet but from what I've looked up it seems to be near the front sprocket or behind the sprocket cover. I could be wrong though.
You mentioned the bike needs a valve check but that you didn't notice any increased noise. Please be aware on these shim under bucket motors the valve gap actually decreases over time as the valve buries itself in the head. As such the valve gear gets quieter which fools a lot of folks into thinking there's nothing wrong. If the gap does get too small, then you start to loose compression and starting gets difficult. Very doubtful that there's any issues yet @ 14k but definitely worth sticking to the servicing schedule.
I met Nicky Hayden and his Dad once at a Moto Gp in Italy, they talked to me for ages like I was an old friend, he was such a nice guy , I've got a photo of the meeting framed on my wall, it was the year he became Moto Gp champion, just thought I'd share that anecdote with everyone if that's ok Chops.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🇬🇧
On the brake front it's the master cylinder change it for a Brembo 19mm and some EBC HH pads.
That is one tasty bike bud, absolutely beautiful. I just got new rubber for the start of this season as well, Road 5's for the wee girl and Road 6's for the big lass. And as my big lass is a bit of a retro homage, I have decided that I am going to permanent white letter the Michelin and logo's on hers, just for something that wee bit special. I think that idea might also look great on your machine too, should really pop with that livery. Anyhoo, it's obvious that you are really enjoying the raw no nonsense man:machine experience, roll on spring and summer I say!
The one mod I wish I made to my K7 was to down gear it. Std gearing was on the limiter in 6th at an indicated 186mph... nobody needs that. Down geared that mid range would have woken up a treat.
-1 front sprocket ordered already as a starting point :-)
These are a wonderful bike, my advice for the brakes is a 19mm brembo master cylinder and braided lines help but not much. Also clean the slave cylinders and disc bobbins before splashing the cash. Also a sprocket change -1 and 2 up on the rear. Bazzazz used to do a cpu upgrade that would control all the injectors which you only get from a power commander if you buy the second injector
controller. You’ve got a great bike.
This bike is all you need in Britain. More than enough power in a well built reliable package! No need to touch it unless it's a content video maker for you.
P/s valve adjustment, it's the quiet one's you've got to worry about.
Having to lock my bike to my front step I'm more envious of a double garage than any bike someone might have !
hey there , I love your work , also own a gsxr 1000rr , mine is supposed to be a special edition , it is black and gold , I am a aussie fan , born in england, ran away from home when i was 3 , thank you for showing me my country roads , big fan
I have had 2 gsxr's now, Changed the master for a Brembo or (others are available), lines, pads, get rid of the cat, power commander, air filter and a setup. Job done......... Quickshifter if you wanna be fancy......
ABS, you gotta be kidding - good set of Brembos is all you need
Great bike. I bought one brand new back in the day. Mental power.
Top man chop’s great to see you out GSXR or any bike to be honest. Never a dull moment buddy and you are great fun too. I’ll be looking out for you at Cadwell so keep us posted when you are going. It’s my local track (20 miles up the road) and I’m there for all the track days. Take care buddy
There on the 12th and 13th of May 👍
I know it needs a little TLC but it just shows you don't need to spend mega bucks on a new bike when this has plenty to offer
Yes absolutely 💯 % Mark 👍
8:52 nice car
Bit of a budget bike, mmmm, big budget!…
New discs, pads, lines and a Translogic shifter, jobs a goodn😉👍🏽
Oooh double garage, beats my wee shed!
It’s worth checking that all the floating Buttons on the disc rotors are free and not seized. A light tap with a hammer using a couple of sockets either side as drifts and a little brake cleaner will free them up. I fixed a light shudder this way on my Ktm 950SM
Yes already checked all those is the previous video 👍
Double garage, a bed and a oven. Perfect mans cave :) 👍 congratulations 🎊
Brill to see the Gixer out on the road Chopsy. I'm itching to get mine out once it warms up a bit :D
Good luck with the move John, am well jelly you might be getting a double garage!
Thanks Peter! We will have to get out together on the Gixers 😎😎
@@LambChopRides aye, I'll have to remember my speedo tape! 🤣
Spring has sprung and a young man,s fancy turns to GIXXER nice one sir.
I feel a build series coming on!!!
Good vid chops. I know the roads your riding pretty well from my time living in Fareham ,many moons ago I used to take the back rd to Winchester pretty often on my then new exup. Good luck with the house move. I may even make a video when I pick up my pikes peak in July.🤞. I shall check out your vid on camera set up etc. take care out there chops. 👍🇬🇧🏴
Lucky bugger Craig find myself hankering after the new Pikes Peak! 👍
😂😂 You're like me. First priority is the garage. Mine is 75 m2 with 4 bikes and a quad and a corner with bike lift and a lot of tools. Come and have a look for good ideas. You only need to plan a trip to NL.
Good work ! Like you say don't through a bucket of money at it ! Tinker ! Little money ! Tinker ! Good luck with the move ! Avoid solicators ! They cost you a forture for scant little reward ! An unnecessary evil in the house buying process ! I wish I was one ! I took the wrong option ! Keep them coming chopsy
Thanks Dad 👍
Gsxr people usually raise the rear so they turn in better and better swing angle. They either add shims or adjustable rear shock.
to get my old gsxr to have brakes that i was happish with i had to change the master cylinder, lines and calipers. changing the calipers to the budget brembos from the new gsxr's made the biggest difference.
All the best with the house champ👍
Give Hilltop Motorcycles a ring about ECU mapping
😂😂😂 Biggest conman ever
Steve Jordan Motorcyles are brilliant at tuning, maps etc etc. Unbelievable difference on my GSXS1000 it really is and a Suzuki specialist. Couldn’t recommend Steve and team highly enough
I'm booked in with Steve in a couple of weeks to have my k8 mapped, looking forward to the results.
@@gixxer750rich difference is unreal mate in mine, It’s genuinely like a different bike and for the better. I giggled in my helmet all the way back to Reading, it was genuinely one of the best rides I’ve had on a bike! Enjoy it mate
@@elliottmoore1275 great to know, what power did yours make? And I assume you aren't running a power commander?
@@gixxer750rich no, no power commander it’s a 2018 GSXS1000 with black widow down pipes and a yoshi end can and I think it was 168bhp from 154 from memory but torque up a lot from lower down the Rev range and bhp figure gain was in every gear pretty much so really useable extra power. I also got them to set the suspension up for me which also made a huge difference
The days of overlay jerking throttle are pretty much over, it’s fuelled beautifully now and you can feel it
Another thing I did was drop the pegs to the lowest position and this didn't make much of a difference from a comfort perspective. i have had the seat rebuilt to see if that will help!
I think if I was to have one last sportsbike as I'm in my late 50's, it would be a ten year old Gsxr 1000.
Congratulations on house sale and hope move goes well, double garage heaven. Cheers Choppsy
If you're going for discs I've been using PFm - using them on my Rsv4 and z1000 - 550quid but you can buy all the individual parts making replacing whole discs if they are warped dead cheap....
I had a pc5 on mine , I changed the velocity stacks to diffrent height ones a race filter and full yoshimura exhaust system and mine was 186 odd at rear wheel back in 2008 ... it was a torque monster and I'd hit 5th gear limiter on the back wheel regular and 112mph in first gear, I preferred my old k7 thou to the 2010 Bmw s1000rr I bought new, even after I modded the bmw s1kr I still preferred the torque and power delivery of the k7 thou engine. I also fitted some k tech fork internals and a WP rear race shock which transformed the handling of my k7 thou.. theres a old vid on my channel of my k7 with a racefit exhaust that was silly loud and that's why I ended up buying a yoshi system lol. If you want mid range get rid of the cat asap !
Sounds amazing!! Just what I'm after 👍👍
19:00 It's funny you talk of these safety nets. I've never owned a bike new enough to have them. Would love a steering damper on my VTR though
Brembo brakes and Ohlins suspension on the Euro stuff vs the Nissin and KYB stuff on the Big 4. Makes you wonder why people pay the extra money for a BMW, Triumph, or Ducati.
Great things to come for this bike. One suggestion get a Sprint filter instead of the K&N.Highest flowing filter on the market.👍🍻
Thanks for the tip!
A Double Double Garage!!! Whoo Hoo!! Can't wait. You deserve over a million subscribers Chopsy! But let's manifest that 100 first. It is done!
Thanks buddy!
Regarding the brake juddering issue, we see you clean the brake disc bobbins with the nut and bolt trick and brake cleaner, but you only rotated them by hand. Perhaps be more aggressive with them and spin them clockwise and counter-clockwise using a pistol drill and with the use of brake cleaner. It may improve the issue greater. Worth a try before you replace the discs 👍
Hello :), I’ve got the same bike, have had it many years and know it inside out, In my experience, pc5 with the k&n done was the biggest power gain, i had it dynoed after and it runs a million times nicer, I also rebuilt the callipers new seals and braided lines with sbs pads and ebc discs that fixed my brakes, all semi cheap bits not to expensive, mines in daily use with over 30k and it’s never let me down
Thumbs up for a garage build series.
Nice video! I had a k7 1000 it was ace. Personally I wouldn’t bother with a power commander… they are expensive a pain to fit and can only overcome fuel and timing. I would go with a remap from moores racing or someone similar. After a full remap you will have full power in all gears, no top speed limiter and it will be cheaper than a power commander. I had a power commander on my k7 and it didn’t make much difference, slightly smoother but that was it. Also a remap video would ace too! Keep up the excellent work chopsy.
Power commander, kn filter, velocity stacks, cat remover, tre. A lot to improve. Mine has 200 hp on the crank.
Gz, a Doublegarage with a lil house equipped to keep the wife happy 😊 👍
I have a brand new ignition barrel/keys for a gsxr750 last of the oil cooled somewhere 🤔 Nice 🏍
And also, if you're serious about a re-map, don't bother with a PCV or similar nowadays, go to see Gavin at MSG racing & dyno, he's near Aylesbury but it's well worth the trip. Nothing he doesn't know about GSXR's and will give you the best map available.
My Suzuki also had a neutral sensor issue. However it should still start with the clutch held in? Then just let it out slowly?
As for the brakes. Suzuki brakes suck xD!
Before you change discs you want to make sure the spindle isn’t bent and the wheel is spinning true, I’d invest in a DTI gauge as it will tell you if the wheel is spinning true and the discs are true.
Then check the calliper pistons return, if one is seized it will cause uneven heat and warp discs. My friend went through 3 front discs bcus of this.
For upgrades on ‘feel’ better brake pads and upgrading the master cylinder to a radial mounted one. This allows direct pressure on the master cylinder.
If the brakes feel squishy or lose power as you apply them then braided lines. Braided lines r cheap anyways.
One last thing. If your disc wasn’t running true in the first place could of unevenly worn the pads which could affect current brake performance
Yes but not with the side stand down, want to warm it up off the bike is the problem. Interesting seems its a common issue
Double Bubble Garage! Awesome mate. Get a compressor & a TIG Welder.
I'm sure the modern gixer 1000 wheels would fit
You need to put a spacer on the rear shock. To rise te rear. The steering will improve a lot.
2017's got finger followers and VVT. Probably the fastest ones yet...ABS is awesome on MC's.
Choppsy put on a Brembo Master steel lines and pads will change front
Don’t go with a ‘performance’ air filter, they let way to much road and track crud into the engine and give you ~2bhp at best… new standard filter is the best advice.
Awesome video again chops.......I hope that your house move goes through so you'll get your double garage. Love that GSXR and the plans you've got for it. I remember what you did to your previous GSXR and that bike was stunning as well and the sound of that engine when you went through the box with that quick shifter was amazing.
Great work buddy......looking forward to your future content. 👍😊
Thanks Dean
Double garage happy days Chops👍🏻
Budget track build here we go!!
If you have wooden brakes, then fitting braided hoses isn't going to make that any better, it will probably make it worse. You are going to need to replace the master cylinder. I don't think you need to go full top of the line Brembo to improve the situation as their more affordable units will be a big improvement over the OEM unit. And it may give you the adjustment you need.
I love that bike.
These older bikes are the way to go.
Great vid Chops.
I'm so glad to hear you're going to be yer usual self,, like me and my 06 1000,, get the bike leave it next thing I've ohlins,, titanium bolts,, be looking forward to the wheels as they are expensive,, and if the standard 17 on fit yum yum,, when you have it set up for you,, like your old blade ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️from Northern Ireland awesome viewing and congratulations on the house mate 🏡🏡🏡👍👍👍👍
haha thanks Cecil :-)
the brembo front lever and master cylinder upgrade is great for these bikes, made a massive difference to mine. love the videos dude
Would this fit a Tl1000r as my brakes are terrible Haha.
@@stichupman you can fit a radial MC from a 2005 onward gsxr1000, you'll need a HEL mc convertor (which allows you to keep your current braided lines, if you have them) and some 4 pot calipers from a GSXR600 SRAD or some Nissens from a Honda, should make the world of difference.
@@gixxer750rich cheers mate. Certainly something I'm looking into.
Great vid. Fingers crossed for the new gaff! Also can't wait to see how the GSXR evolves. Looks like braided lines, discs & pads are probably in order. I'm guessing you'll probably end up chucking a new rear shock on it too which is probably essential for the track. Link pipe & mapping should be a quick win & the wheels are interesting one. Dymag's would be awesome but pricey so hopefully current Gixxer thou wheels fit as you say. Could also get a lithium battery to save a few kg's too, especially if the battery's old. So many geeat options Chops, very exciting!
Hard to believe I've been subscribed to your channel since the TT Legends Fireblade build, how time flies! Good luck on the double garage purchase, you deserve it.
Thanks Mark appreciate your support over the years 👍 🙏
I NEVER UNDERSTAND WHY CHOPS ONLY HAVE THIS LITTLE SUBS!!!!
Let's get him to that magic number
Thanks William
Good luck with the 100k! Love your videos bud 👍🏻👌🏻 I'll make sure to like every video to get the algorithm going 😁
Thanks Greg 😁👍
Excellent stuff 🏍🏍🏍
Biggest fan Powamoto is in the house. Awesome vid Mate 👊
I have a jackup kit that raised the rear of my SV thou by about an inch and a quarter. Maxton resprung a standard shock for my weight and the turn in is excellent. Like yourself, not wishing to spend silly money, I have braided lines front and rear, including the clutch line, with EBC front discs and HH pads. It's pretty decent.
Try some EBC sintered pads Chops. Should get more initial bite.
Great video liked the story about the new house and double garage, my wife’s giving me sideward glances as she always says if I had my way we’ll end up in a tiny house with a huge garage, she knows me too well👍
Nice one - bike is a real looker I reckon :) Good luck with your move too !!
Thanks Dave 👍
Hooray a Gixxer !
Quick action throttle??
Wont that make it un-rideable on the road ..wet weather?! Don't forget once you get the mid-range sorted it should put like a truck in 6th gear from say 40mph. The quick throttle I had once was 1/4 of an inch! -maybe you don't mean that fierce? ( In the late 80s - old Vreg Suzuki1000-big bored drag based bike )
It always amazes me how people want to tinker with upgrades (££) . Ive done nothing to mine except wash it.. But then again Ive never done a track day, so I get what you're doing.
That’s a large to do list
Good video Lamb Chop. Hope everything goes well with the New house and it will be great to see you give the garage a make over.
Thanks Lyn!! :-)
I wouldn't bother with a power commander. Have it flashed. A mail in flash will unlock more than a piggyback.
Just purchased a k7 gsxr1000 and this was exactly what I was looking for. Great review and I hope you hit that 100k soon. Gained a sub 👊🏻
Thanks Ashley 👍 👊
can't wait for that garage build series!
Great update, great bike. Congrats on the move, I did it last year and once you get a double garage you never look back😃👍🏼 Cheers!
Great fun video, the taming of Susi . Congratulations to you both . Looking forward to the mega garage build and studio, fingers crossed all goes to plan 👍.
Fingers crossed your house move goes through to the new Double Chops size man cave! This bike deserves the upgrades you’ll inevitably give it..can’t beat the twist grip excitement on those roads mate..good for the soul! Atb
Thanks Alan 👍
