Love, LOVE hearing these stories guys!!
I had a bunch of gs1100e('82-'83), a gs1000e('79), and finally a '90 ZX 1000 I grabbed for like $1800 around 1996 I'm guessing.. but nothing even remotely close to what these newer EFI bikes are capable of!
Finally bought my first brand new bike, a 2003 GSX-R 1k, and my God I was in heaven!!
I put 60kmi on it in the first 4 years I had it, and a few more before selling it after like 5 years as driving it as my daily driver!!
I rode it up and down the east coast, rode it in -15°f weather to the grocery store and even made a 20 mile ride in the middle of a blizzard with 6 inches of snow on the ground already to get to court to avoid a warrant by the corrupt court system!!
2-1/2 miles on the back wheel, around 450+ feet on the front wheel doing rolling stoppies, and many other stunts from highchair wheelies to tank spreaders and so on...
By far the best bike I've ever ridden let alone owned -- absolutely my dream bike, and I wish I never sold it- but after 5 years as my daily driver I needed a break on those nasty days..
God bless y'all, and shiny side up! ♥️🙏💯🏍️🇺🇲🙏♥️

Your long term owners review in 2011 was one of the reasons I brought this bike two years ago (2015 model). I am 56 years old and was concerned that it would be uncomfortable on the wrists and backside. I ride the GSXR, normally for 4 hours at a time, normally with a lunch break in between. I just love it.
The sound the handling the predictability compared to other bikes I have owned and ridden. I can see why, even back then, you seemed dissappointed to give your long term loaner back...so thank you Neevsey-as always. love you content time and candor in your reviews.

That's great to hear, I am 20 years younger and have the naked GSX-S 750 as I thought it will be more comfy over the R, but I still hear to calling of the supersport in the back of my head...

      @husseyfamily509 5 месяцев назад +2

@@KapitanPisoar1 The first ride I had on the GSXR was a three hour ride back from where I brought the machine. I was prepared to have a sore back and wrists, as my intention buying the bike was just to ride the local short twisties. (I'm in New Zealand). To my total surprise I was very comfortable. I think the trick is to keep a slight bend in your elbows so you don't lock you arms and absorb all the shock. My other bike is an Indian Roadmaster so I'm used to comfort.
The best bike you will own is the one you will ride. If you love the naked stick with that or take and R for a ride and see what you think. Safe riding.

Hi. Excellent video packed with fantastic information. When that very first race replica GSXR 750 came out in 1985, I remember seeing it screaming through a winding road, I thought - "what was that?". At the time I didn't know what it was, I went to all the local bike shops in Australia to find it, and yes I learned about the GSXR 750. Couldn't afford it because I was still a student. Later when I started working I saved up and bought a new tri colour 1995 Honda Fireblade. Now after owning 30+ bikes, and having a 2024 S1000RR and 2008 1098S (pre all electronics) in my garage that I look at every night, I still miss those 80s-mid to late 2000s pure sports bikes. And at those times being excited every 2 years to see the updates. Regards and have a great day! PS: Now wanting to add a street fighter, naked bike to the garage but man I just can't decide ... 890 Duke R, Duke GP, MT09, MT10, 765R or RS, the list goes on ... tough choice. It's easier to choose a Superbike. PSS: Previous Suzuki bikes I've owned are DR250 (my first bike) GSXR1000 K7, L1, the 2017 model (traded it on a RS660 - that was a mistake RS only lasted 6 months then moved it on - I wish I kept the Suzi).

Had a deposit on the one that came after the K7 too - the one that looked a bit more like a transformer at the front (and the ABC riding modes) but went for the R1 in the end.

Well said neevesybikes. Always love your clips. I just picked up a 2011 L1 GSXR750 off a family member. I wasn't keen on a 750 but it was to cheep to say no. My last bike was a 2010 Hayabusa and before that a SV650 and have ridden lots of bikes from Hayabusa's to Harley's. I have been pleasantly surprised by how good and fast the GSXR 750 really is. I flipped the clip on's from left to right and put them upside down which gave me about a 2 inch rise for free which has made it even better for me. I'm also surprised how much room it has, I'm 6 foot 7 tall and 110kg and it still feels great for a sport bike. (I know I shouldn't be riding sport bikes at my size but they are just to much fun)🤪 I also changed the front sprocket down one to a 16tooth and the back up 2 to a 47tooth. It has made it accelerate more like a 1000. Just such a rideable bike. Was going to ride it for a year then get a GSXS1000 but after a few rides and the mods I've done to it I'm thinking of keeping it now, Such a good reliable bike

I remember looking for my first big bike back in 2006 and i decided on the k3 gsxr 600 based on the cheap insurance £350 tptf for a 30 odd year old with zero no claims and just passed my direct access but the selling point for me was the bikes low weight at about 163kg. The 750cc and the 1000cc are equally low weight with just a few kg's of difference between the range of 600cc to 1000cc. The k5-k6 1000cc was 166kg and 176 bhp making it the best power to weight ratio superbike at the time apart from the mighty 2004-2005 zx10r which was about the same power to weight ratio at 1.06 bhp to 1 kg as it was 181 bhp and 170kg, so a little bit heavier.
Both are iconic bikes and lightweight compared with todays 200kg superbikes and it goes to show that you really cant push the boundaries any further with a 1000cc bike although i think the panigale v4s was pushing about 1.2-1.3 bhp per kg.
The zx10r and the gsxr 1000 of that time are iconic for that reason and they are exceptional superbikes at affordable prices and the only reason that i would not personally opt for the 750cc at that time was the fact that the insurance and the road tax was the same rate as having a 1000cc gsxr.
I have owned 2x k6 gsxr 1000cc and at full throttle and approaching maximum speed i felt as though the front end was too light and twitchy for me to have the confidence to go balls to the wall with that bike so i can understand the balance of the power to handling of the 750cc.

In the states we have the 2024 models, 600-1000 and , from what Liberty Media is doing with the purchase of Dorna. I believe Suzuki will re-enter the game very soon just as BMW is moving into MotoGP!! Love this video. I smiled the entire way through it as I have the same emotional response to the bike. You nearly rubbed the paint off that pillion cover a time or two. I know you love that bike! Ride safe!

Very tempted to grab one of these, they look beautiful. They still sell them new here in the US. However I'm a bit skeptical of going back to inline 4 engines as a long time v-twin old superbike convert. Will need to test ride one :)

Completely agree. I was always in the SRAD camp, even though I went ZX7R (and again more recently). In both cases, as I got older, lack of ABS for road riding became more of a concern. Such was my love, even tried to figure out if a BOSCH system could be fitted!
Although I went green, there is no argument, the GSXR750 was miles ahead in power, weight and dynamics. What a bike..

Restrictions on bikes were well under way well before this bike, the Y2k ZX9r had two cats in the back box and link pipe, making the titanium exhaust very heavy, I have the original exhaust in my bedroom. Removing that probably made it lighter than this overall (for the E1+ models), but still due to design and a full 19l fuel tank, they are top heavy which is very noticable when manual handling the bike, proper underrated beast 😎

Love the series Neevesy wanted a quick good humoured rant about gixxers. Everyone goes on about k5 gsxr1000 being better than k7, I have owned a k8 limited edition rizla moto gp rep for 16 years, twin titanium yoshis and link pipe reducing weight and it makes 170 bhp at the back wheel. It has 28bhp more than k5, more torque is lighter better handling and better brakes so how can a k5 be better? Look forward to your opinion.

There are lots of reasons why my track bike is a K6 750. Partly because I ran across one that wasn't running and the owner (his wife, really) was sick of messing with it. But mostly it was because I had had a few 600s before it and I really liked the K6 600 as a track bike and the thought of having the same handling with more power was too exciting to pass up.

And yes, it really is a shame that Suzuki never updated the 750 after the L1 model because this is the kind of sport bike we want and need. As you've said, a perfect blend of everything and actually usable and fun on both road and track. Cheers!!

I am 2 sec slower per lap but can ride day after day no issues the V2 in shop every 2 track days total crap. First oil change no metal. Ducati had chunks aluminum and steel was told that's normal.

Had a K1 and loved it but the urge to try a 1000 was too big and changed it for a K8 1000. Didi not find the k8 less agile and since I used it on the road only enjoyed the gruntier engine. Maybe the 750 K8 LO like the one you are showing could have been the real deal for me with a bit more power than my K1 and a lighter feel to it thanks to the improvement to the chassis. Great vid and great to be able to share this with you. Gaël (gsxr fan boy)
