For those of us born as 'Baby Boomers', we were blessed during our lives with great music. I know there was racial tension going on during the late 1960's along with the Vietnam War... But as a 'Vietnam Vet' who actually saw combat ... I'm so grateful to those folks who provided the sounds that made life bearable during those hectic times. Mark Bell PCF-69
I was 9 years old when this was released in the late 60's. I certainly remember the effect this classic had on teenagers. This classic song was practically played by all age groups.
Marvin & Kim both phenomenal voices, love this mix along with great photos of two legendary great singing wonders who are the all time greatest, never will see their likes again...Happy Birthday Kim Weston!!!
I always love how Kim didn't take a back seat with this duet. She was the more dominant singer and that's a big achievement teaming with a great as Marvin.
LORD HAVE MERCY.. A DELIGHTFUL DUET... AND THOSE MAGNIFICENT FUNK BROTHER'S... EXCELLENT AND MIGHTY POWERFUL MUSICIANS... PUT MOTOWN ON THE MAP!!! YEEES!!! BABY!!! YESSS!
..... This is one of the BEST yet,the manner of the mix.... it's as if they are " live ".... it sounds " live " . Miss Kim Weston, what a beautiful woman, with a voice to match . Marvin Gaye , unmistakable voice,... I always believed that he was meant to sing " duets " ,because it fits so well. This takes us back to Real Music. Real Talent, God given talent. Miss Weston will be 82 years young this year, ( in December) its wonderful that she is still here. Marvin, you're missed , ...and although it's been 38 years, your Music legend lives on. Thank you for this version, the Original was not ever long enough .... I hope Miss Kim Weston smiles when she hears this.
In the early 70's, I was lucky enough to get to know Marvin Gaye , from playing Hoops with him, at the old Inglewood YMCA. he'd show up on Saturdays, & sometimes on Wednesdays evenings, by himself, just one more pick-up player. he had total respect, because he NEVER made a scene, or expected any different treatment. The man was handsome, smooth, & effortless on the court. it was an honor to play with & against him. -------------WolfSky9, 75 y/o
This extended mix is lit, lit, can't help being teary eyed listening to this, a kid when this hit and when they had their hey day, there will never be another era of music like this again...Marvin, gone too soon, Kim Weston still looks amazing...
Black music is brilliant not all of it but by god there are both black groups and solo acts that are stand outs and have been for over thirty years. And when Phil Spector was in on the act brilliance come alive and never grew old. I think Marvin & Kim Weston do a fabulous job on it takes two baby this is a great record that I never tire of listening too. I guess Marvin went far to young but I’m extremely happy that Kim Weston is still around and We all wish her the best of health and a long life ahead. Chris Sydney Australia
A Majestic Memory From These Two Brilliant Artists. Backed By The Monumental Funk Brothers. The Background To Many From The Motown Hit Factory. Thank You For This Amazing Memory.
One of those songs that I never tire of. The instrumental version stands on it's own for me and mixing that with the vocal version makes it twice as better. I love it.
This really satisfies the appetite of the worlds biggest Motown Fan, ME. Only a genius could remix it like this. I have listened to this over and over and over and...... Thank You! Thank You for this great arrangement.
Just beautiful, John. Thank you for everything you do, and for your valuable contributions to the RUclips community. What a thoughtful gesture to dedicate this, as well! That means a lot to me. Love & blessings to you... ~Kim Weston Fan Page
Yes it takes two, Marvin & Kim to conjure up this magic. Throw in the Funk Brothers and that's three, which doesn't make for a crowd in this case. Then, throw in your extended version and with that "four" we now have a PARTY! Wow!
The reason the album was titled "Take Two" is it was the second album Kim and Marvin recorded. The first one never came out and in fact Kim never got a solo album despite dozens and dozens of outstanding records at Motown.
Before Lyn Collins 1972 Think (About It), this 1965 Motown dance classic (1965) was the 'it takes 2' record! Thank you for these extended Motown icons, R.I.P. to both Marvin & Tammi - Brilliant, DAVEDJ
So sad to hear in the last day or so the passing of the great Syvia Moy - Motown song writer and producer.God Bless you dear lady and thanks a million for this and all the other songs you wrote/co-wrote. xxxxxxs
Far from a "MIX",....It's one better,...It's a brew,....a VINTAGE brew,....I can listen to your wonderful music CONCOCKTIONS all day/night.,...Bless you sir for taking the time.,.....I "KNOW" KIM,....TAMMY & MARVIN feel the same,.....You're their ANGEL on Earth.
Stellar! Beautiful! Great! It brings out the miracle amazing Arrangements and all the great strings in this from the Motor City USA, beautiful photos too. Thanks for another wonderful video! -Chuck Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
I really appreciate when you spotlight some of the great voices people haven't yet discovered. I remember this song but Kim Weston, like Brenda Holloway and other great singers would fade from memory if people like you didn't reintroduce them to today's listeners.
All I can do is second the earlier comments about this great extended mix and that phenomenal acapella introduction. Well done and thanks for putting a smile on my face!
@markbell335: FIRST LET ME GIVE MY GREATEST THANKS TO YOU & ALL THE MEN & WOMEN THAT SERVED/ SERVING OUR COUNTRY WITH YOUR MILITARY FIGHTING! SECONDLY, AS A BABY-BOOMER, MOTOWN WAS/IS THE GREATEST LABEL THAT ASSEMBLED SO-MUCH TALENT IN ONE BUILDING! IMO WE WILL NEVER SEE THIS ACCOMPLISHED AGAIN! IF ANYONE CAN TELL ME WHAT ONE COMPANY THAT HAS THAT MUCH TALENT!? I’LL BE WAITING!
how in the hell does a kid like u come up with all these fantastic mixes, from ur picture u look to be about 15 .I got parking tickets older than u. I hope u never stop mixing.thatsthe way I would mix them.capital, well done, good show ur too much. outta sight

It Takes Two Baby!
No Doubt Absolutely ❤️
The prince of Motown Marvin Gaye incredible duets are unforgettable.
This extended remix sounds great as though the performers were live. Also, the musical instruments sound strident, right off the studio master tape.
Brilliant mix this , marvin kim funk brothers , Andantes
greatest music ever in Motown, The Funk Brothers made it possible, then throw in Marvin and angelic Kim, and you got a winner.
Back in the day when there was real music with beautiful voices...
I always love how Kim didn't take a back seat with this duet. She was the more dominant singer and that's a big achievement teaming with a great as Marvin.

Kim Weston is still alive she is 80 y/o and her best is this duet with the great Marvin Gaye and Lift Every voice (The Black National Anthem).
