Love to hear Brent’s ideas/concepts. Great ambassador/athlete for CF

Surely step one is professionalizing judging. I.e. any elite competition requires actual paid judges with specific training and experience. Easy to implement and will hugely validate the sport

If you want “UFC” progress, you have to do something more than once a year. Events bring money. Not enough events! So maybe even have 4 events a year (seasonal) and each event, the winner is the fittest on earth (just like a champion can loose their belt each fight).
Do something like that and (1) you take away “I’m the fittest at this moment of the year” to “I’m the fittest overall throughout a year”
    (2) brings in more involvement and keeps/maintains that interest throughout the year.
    (3) has multiple large events that bring in more overall income to not only maintain but supply financial support to continue to increase the sport of CrossFit

The problem with CrossFit as a popular spectator sport is that unless you do CrossFit yourself, it is boring to watch. Nobody (general public) wants to just watch someone workout. I love watching the games and other comps. But that is because I do those workouts and it is amazing to me to see them do them at that level. The only way to make it fun for the general public to watch would be to add challenges/workouts that are just stupid/gimmicky. The general CrossFit community doesn't want to be a performer in a show. So there is a conflict of what it would need to gain public interest and what the sport actually is. I don't see a way to bridge that gap.

I think the same could be said about golf, tennis, baseball, NASCAR etc. The difference is the marketing and the promotion. CrossFit media is nothing that it was at its height in 2018 and you can see it in the interest in the sport. CrossFit has great athletes and personalities, but they have to promote themselves on their own.

@@jamesrodgers1047 agree with that. golf is super boring. it has no intensity except in the last shots and despite thatT.W. was one of the highest paid athletes. i would rather eat tofu (i don't like tofu) than watching cars for hundreds of laps and still have millions of fans

That is a very astute observation. People who don’t exercise or have no interest in fitness probably will not be interested in CF. I’m ok with that, let it be a niche thing rather than gimmick it up for Joe/Jane six pack

@@jamesrodgers1047 Agree with you. The CFGames commentating is traaaaaash (lol) they are quite bad with the marketing as well. They could make it more easier for newbies to understand the sport ( hint don't just focus on just your star people)

U need weight classes to grow CrossFit to UFC levels. CrossFit leaves out a lot of people in male divisions sub 175lbs. There has never been a male champion sub 175lbs and there never will it’s impossible.

I disagree, there’s no height division in the nba or volleyball, no weight classes in sprinting or throwing, certain body types are good for certain sports

However those are TEAM sports, each player can attribute their strengths according to their specific skills and size. Take Rugby, you have forwards and backline.
Sports such as running, swimming depend on movement of their body weight.
I agree there may need to be 2 divisions, especially in amateur comps, instead of “scaled” and “rx” they should have sub 175 and over 175.

There are just as many advantages as there are disadvantages to being a lighter athlete in CrossFit. It’s so multifaceted.
If strength is letting you down, put on more size and work on that but it’ll come at the expense of making bodyweight based movements and running harder. That is the magic of CrossFit.
