On this episode of the Corpus Animus Podcast, TTT Coach Max El-Hag interviews CrossFit Games athlete Brent Fikowski. Brent and his coach David came to TTT to train with our on-site athletes for the weekend (videos to come). They discuss the future of the sport, his history, technique, and pain. Enjoy.
Thanks for having me TTT! For those wondering I’ve been applying deodorant regularly
Great to see you collaborate with TTT and have dialogue with Max. Two great minds we’re lucky to have in the CrossFit space.
Do more podcasts man, I love listening to you. And I think you talked well about good questions !
Thanks for coming. You are a beast of a man and a quality thinker. I appreciate you.
😂😂😂😂
Another amazing episode!!!! But I have a question for the Professor.... why didn't you use the chair?
Damn. He’s one well thought out cookie. My new goal is to put as much thought into anything that Brent puts into everything.
Very interesting to come across this in late 2024. Excellent stuff.
Awesome conversation. Good luck at the Games Brent! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
This is where it's at. The conversation about professionalizing CrossFit is a must.
So excited to see what Brent does after he retires from the sport. I feel like he’ll definitely continue on somehow in the space
Watching Brent fidget with the seam in the table as he thinks and responds is the most relatable thing about this. Great Podcast!
Brent’s “one sec I forgot to breath” killed me
Great podcast with 2 of the biggest brains in the CF space!
Haven’t even watched this yet and I already know this will probably be one of your best podcast interviews. 👏
Great podcast! So great to see Brent on a podcast again and to hear both your thoughts!
Way too much great stuff to unpack here in just one watch. Thanks all of you for the awesome info and interview, definitely need to rewatch this again soon!
here to throw in my 2 cents regarding pain tolerance! (psychotherapist mode activated) it can definitely be taught. as you both mentioned, it has everything to do with intrinsic motives and exposure. also, appraisal of pain itself is very helpful in developing the skill of walking towards it vs shying away from it. however, people who are more innately capable of enduring pain are usually folks who experience achievement motivation from a young age. this is usually - but not always - related to responsibility and perfectionism :)
thank you, Brent for such an enlightening experience. and huge thanks to the TTT team for this content. you guys are the best.
Most of the research in "How bad do you want it" was done in my lab. Happy to discuss it on your podcast if you like. It's very relevant to CrossFit
I loved this so much! I enjoy TTT content in general but this was an especially great watch- thank you guys!
This is an awesome conversation, enjoyed it massively. 👊
Great podcast guys.
Great thoughts about improving the sport 🤩
A professor walks into a stink tank .. I mean think tank
Great interview
The Legend!
Love to see Brent play volleyball
Why is Brent kneeling on the floor?!?!
The clip when it goes to Chris is an old replay clip 😐 #mindblown
If you can guess what episode he started doing that at, he will give you a free hug
Game on
Not a chance. If you send me a PSA 10 charizard we’ll consider a hug
@@CTPCAM i wish i'd known it was that easy
It sort of seems like CFHQ is just SO resistant not only to the evolution of the sport from this nostalgia-driven compulsion to keep it how it was "back when..." But also to being able to admit they didn't get it right the first time and are willing to admit that. Boz did a great job trying to express that sentiment in a recent podcast (can't remember offhand which), but they're still so bad at consistency and putting the onus on lousy judging to elevate the sport. The free-for-all only works in small grassroots things; systems need to be in place when things get bigger
AN EPIC MEETING OF THE MINDS! it's like Pinky and The Brain except they're both The Brain.

just saying, lot of 2 foot dunkers actually... really depends how you are trying to dunk and type of dunk and situation (game-"fast break" vs dunk contest). Virtually the same as Vball jumping Brent just described.
Is Brent on his knees?? 😂
The Regional days, when he missed by a spot, he was skinny! Much larger now.
I want to see him rip it at the games like he wants it.
Is Brent a freaking Giant?? Why is he doing this interview on his knees instead of sitting in a chair? Ive seen thousands of hours of podcasts and have never seen that haha
Volume levels are terrible.
And also why those american hosts are always so obsessed with their own voice? Stop interrupting!
Why do people like you need to come into comments to negatively criticize other people’s attempt at doing good work and providing content to the community?
You could easily not tune in or keep your opinion to yourself, but you feel the need to be heard.
Maybe it’s the same for us.
And maybe you could learn how to phrase things in a way that makes your opinion less obnoxious and more practical for us to improve your listening experience. Instead of trying to make us feel bad about our work or stereotyping our entire country.
