    This is OG type sh!t. Max did a barbell shrug interview that sparked my love for coaching and I spent a year mentoring under James and OPEX. Two of the smartest guys in the sport.

    So proud of knowing exactly who they were talking about with AB. 100% remember when OPT came out and the uproar that went around facilities. Black box Summit was also a huge deal. That whole situation was a massive blow up. Ahhh to be in this sport since 2011 and think back on things way back when.
    EDIT; lets talk about when HQ fought tooth and nail against Wodapalooza from being able to put on the event.

    As an OPEXCCP this would be a good interview! Do it bring him on!

    Did the Optathalon many times. Linked up with some OPT folks in 2011 and my life changed forever. Was it CrossFit, or was it OPT? Hard to say, but it was a net positive.

    This was a great episode, I current train at OPT in Canada and Michael holds a competition every year called outside the box. Which has a bunch of tests you might not see at a crossfit comp. Example this year they had to do single legged broad jumps with 3 attempts on each leg for a total score.

    Funny how these self proclaimed rebels like Glassman don't like people "rebelling" against them (in the case of OPT actually improving the methodology)

    Legend. Still got my OPT shirt (and the first TTT shirt). Pretty much introduced me to a scientific approach to CrossFit training instead of just pounding myself into the ground.

    Great show. I'm new to CF and I'm glad to know that, from the very beginning, there was somebody questioning the Glassman's CF methodology which is far from perfect

      To be fair, it’s easy to question and harder to create a methodology that actually gets legs. James ideas helped those who chose to train it primarily as sport.

    • @samuele.marcora
      @samuele.marcora 7 месяцев назад +2

      @@CTPCAM I agree. But Glassman created a very successful brand, not a truly new methodology. The problem is that most people don't know the history of training methodology. They think what they see for the first time (or has a new fancy name) is something new. Many essential features of CF methodology are as old as shit. I have studied concepts like crosstraining, circuit training (METCONs are just shorter versions of it) and testing physical work capacity over broad time domains during my degree in Physical Education back in the 80s on textbooks written in the 60-70-80s. Being the prick he is, Glassman tweaked, renamed and sold it as his amazing invention.

    Incredibly fascinating, my coach does OPEX programming and it's really interesting to hear Max talking about tests from the early days of the method that are now bread and butter testing even now.

    Does the old big dogs blog still exist somewhere? I’ve looked for it but I can’t find it. Would be interesting to look at the old programming and see how things have changed from then until now.
