I once heard something said by a very very old drag racer... he said that there were two ways of going fast at the first drag strips. And it was money and power, versus light weight drag cars... and he said years later we found out which one was better. Almost all of the cheaper light weight guys died. And The ones that were left around in their old age were the guys who spent the money and kept the weight.
When the Series is wrapped up, perhaps do a full track build on the Peugeot, swap engine and transmission for something better, full cage, brakes, and suspension.
@@5Ci0N 3d scanning not printing. They basically get super accurate dimensions to make up their cages to perfection. Probably find some off cuts but unlikely anything usable.
Same for most hatchbacks. My mk4 GTi was so bendy you could see the front end flexing in fast wavey corners. Couldn't go over speed bumps with a lower brace though
Moog mate, im no peugeot fan, but you might want to read up on the heritage there. Those guys have got several le-mans wins under their belt, including cars which won over 50% of their race entries. They also have a long history in rallies, with the 206 WRC chopping fools in evos and wrxs.
Just a thought, but after the first race, y'all should switch cars and do another run. That would prove for sure whether it's the car or driver that's faster.

Winning pikes peak with the 405 t16 (remember the scene with ari vatanen covering his eyes from the sun with his hands while drifting). Making the best wrc car (206 wrc) and much more

Swift lost around 10pk peugbro 4pk, so pk wise they are around the same now... The peugbro was 50kg lighter, lost 100kg and swift added 30-50kg. So same power levels but one car is 200kg lighter.. at cars that only weigh 1100-1200kg thats a 15% difference. Cant imagine swift winning on same tire set ups.
This series is such a good indication of their personalities. One guy gets the fancy stuff like a lotus, golf R etc where the other gets the used older gear like a wrx, lancer etc.
Love this series! You could do another 10 episodes on modifying these cars before the race and I'd still be here. The different approaches, the nuggetry... Love it! Thanks fellas 😉✌️

@@driftjunk I didn't say it was mate. They made a joke (which I'm pretty sure was meant in irony) about Peugeot's lack of race pedigree Vs the swift. The joke and irony being that the 206 and Peugeot in general have racing pedigree. You could say the same of almost all racing cars Vs their road going Varian's with maybe the exception of btcc racing (I'm UK based but miles out of touch with touring cars but they used to be based quite heavily on the road going car)
Rally cars are traditionally road cars that have been modified for the sport. It's only now with the Rally 1 cars that they have moved to specially built spaceframes.

Lightweight batteries aren’t always that expensive. I got one for £100 - they can get very expensive if you get a deadweight industries battery which are near 1k
Even with triangulation there would be negligible benefit, there are no significant suspension loads through the points he has braced. Fitting the braced rear axle from the GTi or station wagon would have been more worthwhile.
the 206 have independent rear suspension with shocks mounted in the rear axle. The axle is a unit with almost no flex (that makes these cars very balanced). Puting bracing in the front strut towers makes difference, but in the rear its just wheight hahahahha
@@RafaGmod He would have been better off using that box section to make struts to hold the roof up if it rolls over and as an attachment point for a race harness. Those spindly pillars are not going to hold the weight of the car off Marty's head if Something Bad(tm) happens.
i loved the way moog was writing that the seats are 22kgs, he wrote it upwards as a lefty. i write downwards as a lefty, japanese style. hehe marty cut the headliner with a blade, moog slammed the glove box with his foot, could've sold them for parts, could generate some extra budget money for martys' side.
All that interior stuff from the Pug must already be pretty light. Only 94kg for pretty much the entire interior except the dash, with a big chunk of it being the seat. That's a lot of work for not much weight saving. Geez.
For what weight saving gained I certainly wouldn't track a car without door cards unless U fancy cutting yourself getting in & out or arm lacerations in an accident just not worth it 🤔🤔

@@woopimagpie I tracked an Impreza a few years ago went down the "extreme diet route" just stupid yeah agree with it to a point but not comfortable sitting beside a cheese grater no thanks ......strip all the sound proofing off the floor gut the rear by all means 🙄.....I ended up putting the front door cards back on & even cut the carpet in 1/2 under the front seats & re fitted it for what little weight it added stick 1/2 a gallon less fuel In during your track time if U that worried or drill a load of holes in the back side of the rear hatch or bonnet frame 🤔🤔

There is a reason why they use the ZC32S as a Ring Rental Car at the Nurburgring Nordschleife. Awesome cars. All they do with the Ring Rentals is chuck on some uprated brake discs and pads, upgrade the brake fluid and chuck on some KW coilover suspension

The MCM Fat Mat looks amazing. However, with the shipping fee and all the additional fees/taxes here will make that too expensive for a desk mat.
