You could do that as the Livesight would go into channel one, the Active Imaging 3in1 would go into channel two and the 3D would come in through the Ethernet. The thing to remember with that setup is that you would then have two StructureScan sources and those would have to be managed.
I have a new Lowrance Ghost & HDS 12 Live coming in March. My Question is: Is the percentage at which the Ghost is running displayed at the top of the HDS Live screen? With my current setup, the Motorguide Xi5 with the link system into the HDS shows the percentage on the screen, directly underneath the Lowrance logo on the finder. If I'm driving the boat from the console area with the remote I can see immediately if I'm at 8%, 12%, 90%, 100% etc.

I am a bit confused on these new models. I want one for a new boat setup for Lake Ontario I am thinking HDS live in 9 inch what exactly do I need to buy for everything to work? Do i need multiple transducers or is there one that works everything?
You can buy a HDS-9 Live with a 3 in 1 transducer where it will have sonar, downscan and sidescan and that would be the easiest. But you also do have the option of adding additional one if you like, that is your call.
So I have been asked by a few people why I have one of my presets set to stop sonar. Well when one has multiple transducers and devices you have to learn to manage the transducers to eliminate crosstalk interference. An example would be I have a PD through hull transducer and a 3 in 1 plugged into my console unit and then a HDI mounted on my trolling motor and also a built in sonar in that trolling motor. Because the newer units now have two channel inputs, I now have then 4 sonar sources and then 2 structure sources all of which can interfere with the other like source if run at the same time. One way around this is to simply stop sonar on the source(s) that you are not viewing.

One of the issues with the setup on the bow can be getting the transducer level to the water bottom surface as many boats have an inclined surface on the mounting area. That aside, the other key components are to have the proper transducer selected under sonar installation and having the proper mode selected (shallow water). Beyond that, I pretty much am running sensitivity on auto to +2 range, colorline at 76% and I let the unit do the bulk of the work. But in most cases on the bow, the biggest issue I have seen is having the transducer level and that will vary by boat manufacturer. Hope that helps....
@@StructurreFishing Well, when vertical fishing like that, what setting for 2D? Doesnt the live have a high chirp mode, 200, 83??? Which of those settings is what I meant. Also, if I have an Ultrex and mount it on the bottom, wouldnt it be level enough?
@@Shanester66 , the Live unit will have medium and high chirp and then 200 and 83 kHz to choose from. Normally I use 200kHz but 83 and Med chirp will give you wider coverage but are less refined as they are a wider cone. Honestly, I have not used high chirp much as I have had better success with the others. As far as the mount, again it depends on how parallel the mounting surface is in relation to the lake bottom. Some boats the bow is tapered down, which can play havoc on trying to get parallel to the bottom and because of that the cone can be actually shooting under the boat and not directly below the bow. I have also seen the opposite as well, where the bow mounting area tapers up, it may appear to be flat but in actuality the entire bow deck is tapered up as compared to the bottom of the boat. Every boat setup is different and it can be difficult to dial in the bow at times.

3D will show as a source when chosen for any of the StructureScan functions under source, the 3 in 1 will work when "this unit" is selected as it is plugged directly into the unit.

When it is done it will be released. The worst thing that can happen is to release a version that is rushed and not totally validated. With that situation, then all that are disappointed for it being later than anticipated, then have possible issues which is not a good situation. One has to remember, the primary design level of the AI was current level products, the ability to use on a Carbon was secondary.
@@StructurreFishing Thanks for stating the obvious. I agree I wouldn't want there to be any bugs in the programming that would cause disappointment. But why even mention (around 4:20 in video) that carbon can use the AI transducer with the 18.3 update if there is no hard date for release of the update? It's a bit of a tease, but I guess will have to wait. I was going to buy the 3-in 1 transducer and wait for the update but now I'm going to hold off from purchasing it until all the claims become a reality.

If you are referring to a HDS-12 Gen 2 Touch, no it will not work with a 3 in 1 transducer.
