In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ruclips.net/user/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
Paul for my new TI2 9” units I’m still running my Old LSS transducer on my boat since I haven’t installed the 2in1 that came with the unit. Am I missing out on a lot by not having that 2in1 on there yet ? I have a shoot thru Hull for my 2d traditional. I’ve noticed trolling on Lake Erie that I don’t get the nice bright colored fish arches like I did with my HDS gen 2 unit. And thanks for all the help you give me it’s really appreciated.
Great video as usual Paul! Have a question on the heading sensor while running. Do I have to run a point one up front or can I run it off of my front bow unit (hds3) while running a live at the console? I have a point one at the back near the transducer if I need to run the heading sensor off of that one but saw you didn't recommend that due to sliding around corners when running at high speeds. Thanks Paul!!!
@@PaulGettysFishing but while I'm on plane running at high speeds do I run heading sensor off of point one at the transom or off of the bow unit to keep from sliding in the turns while following trails as you talked about in your video? Sorry if that first question was clear as mud... lol
They need to start a new circuit call the throwback series , This series would consist of your bass rig with almost no electronics only a old school type screen no GPS etc.. let see how good you good ol boys really are, I know when i was fishing tourneys pre electronics and we were pulling 20lbs 5 fish bags there was no stopping who ever got on em. but these days with all these electronics... idk, the skill of reading the lake/water has been removed from the game. I mean we all have a general idea what the fish should be doing depending on time of the year but lets see who's really good at fishing opposed to who really good at reading electronics a lot of winner will turn into losers real fast!!. Just my humble opinion.. Peace out!
Great video!! Is there a chart speed for the down imaging. I just bought a hds live. It doesnt appear to be moving fast enough as I'm trolling on my post trolling motor
Just a heads up, you’re using dual $250 GPS receivers with 5 meter accuracy, so having the rear point 1 just for having a closer gps for waypoints is irrelevant.
Thanks for the information. Only problem I am having is my depth does not show on down scan. Depth will only show on screen in traditional sonar screen. I am sure its a setting somewhere.
Are you using the C-Map withing the unit, or are you using a chip for Maps? The Navionics chip i have for the great lakes does not really give any better detail. As a matter of fact its worse then the C-Map in some areas on Lake Michigan.
C-map reveal is what I am using the chip, check and make sure you have reveal and not discover because discover you have to enable the hi definition blythometry on the unit to show 1ft contours
The only time I use chirp is if I am running an Airmar transducer, 200kz in 20ft of water is roughly 6ft beam, chirp is about 3 and works better for target separation but u miss alot of fish with it.
Do you know how to turn on contours on the charts? Low range has a video where they just push a button. It won’t highlight the button nor let me push it. Are they making me purchase something? Thanks for your help!!! Can’t find anything in the manual or their website or the Internet.
depends what unit youhave and what lakes you are on some lakes have free contours, and then some of the smaller lakes u would need to purchase a navionics card and that is a mapping card for your region
PaulGettysFishing I purchased a navionics west card not realizing it was a different size. Do they make an adapter or do I have to purchase a different card. Thanks for your quick response!! Subscribed.
PaulGettysFishing thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!! There is a little card inside the big card. Today was a shit day of fishing. Tomorrow will be a much better day!!!

thanks for taking the time to do this. Just got a new boat with a 12 and a 9 and could not get the 9 to show temp. I'll try the tip on the setup local when I get back up Can you tell me if there is a way to change the font size on the sonar for the depth and temp. the 2n1 is definitely a better transducer for structure
I do not have a transducer cable for my front fish finder, I am using the US2 adaptor from my Ultrex. What do I select for "Transducer type"?

the heading u will run it off the point 1, but the gps on the front will use the internal gps and the rear unit will use the point 1 for the gps

There is no adjustment for scroll speed on side and down scan. I was very disappointed to learn this. I was told it works best at 3 to 5mph.

Hi I changed my temperature form global to local and it don’t show me temperature in sonar source only depth . How I can put it back ?
Connect a transducer with a temp probe
How do you add boat docks to your mapping
Navionics has them on their cards, cmap reveal you have to turn the photo overlay on and adjust the transparency to see then
My 3 in 1 transducer didn't auto detect and my transducer list doesn't show it to select. Any idea?
which unit?
HDS Live 12
I'll add the downscan and side scan work but would they work better with the proper transducer selected?
