- I took the 2022 Subaru WRX to Drive the Glen at Watkins Glen International to get some video on the track, and the miles per gallon the Subaru WRX can get when driving as unimpressively as possible (which is really hard to do in this car).

Excellent! I've lived in Upstate/Western NY my whole life and have never been to Watkins Glen! I'm a bass fisherman and have fished Seneca Lake, but never been to the Glen! And now, in my 70's, I just took delivery of 2023 WRX Premium in WR Blue Pearl. I definitely see a "road trip" coming in the near future (fall is great time of year to hit the Finger Lakes region). Thanks for the inspiration! Cheers!
I did a 300 mile trip using 87 octane at 60 mph and averaged about 32 mpg. If I go around 70 that comes down to about 29mpg.
I used 93, and was between 70-80 mph on the highway. We got similar numbers though. How many miles did you test at 70, and were you using the onboard numbers or calculating by gallons used per miles driven?
These cars are good with running 87?
I thought all WRX’s required 93.
@@WhatsThePoint01 it has the same engine as the Ascent that only requires 87. 91-93 is recommended but it should run fine on 87
I've been averaging 27mpg on my 17 mile mixed commute in my first 500 miles👍
That's good considering it's higher than what Subaru reported. I can't go by my average unless I'm trying for good mpg since I don't drive very efficiently.
@@DStreetAuto understandable. I doubt I'll be getting that good once I get out of the break in period 😂
@@trackdayadventures Lol, yeah for sure. I am impatient. I started pushing mine on the way home from the dealer, but that was a 2 hour drive so I couldn't hold back.
I average 19mpg
@@777kason Do you ever drive under 3k rpms? 😄
Your results are similar to what I get on long highway drives. Love my WRX.
100% i took one of these for a test drive for about an hour and on the highway (i live in a bit of a mountainous area) and was fluctuating between 6L/100km and 10L/100km depending on grade. So yeah, around 30 mpg. Better than spec
I have the same car, i was instructed by the dealer to drive it easy for the first 1000 miles, well that time is coming for that first oil change, I hope this car is as good as they say it is! Cant wait to open it up👍
Oh, you're gonna have fun! Get your oil change in and go push it, especially through turns.
@@DStreetAuto thanks 👍
love the commentary!
Great video
Thank you! Much appreciated
I’m getting one this week! I drive a lot of highway miles, though just as many gravel roads. I’ve been driving a 2019 Impreza lately, with an average 24mpg, so this sounds about the same. Perfect!
Awesome, congrats! What color/trim are you getting?
@@DStreetAuto Limited, Manual, and WR Blue Pearl!
@@alexanderward7195 Nice! I wanted the better stereo but just didn't want to pay the extra $. Otherwise I haven't missed any of the upgrades...yet.
The MPG follows the VA trend between EPA estimates and reality. Great result.
Thank you for watching! I owned before and after the VA so I don't know what it was like. Never actually drove one, which just occurred to me. One of my co-workers has one so I will change that. I was impressed by the MPG, but not really impressed by the system saying it was 2mpg higher.
@@DStreetAuto Absolutely. Great video. IT was cool to see you get to open up a little on the Glen.
Yeah that's a Subaru thing. The Computer's MPG estimate is about 5%~ optimistic.
I made a quick video to show some of the spots I got to open it up a little more: ruclips.net/video/4jCagKYq2s8/видео.html
Half of the clips were from the first to second lap and didn't make it since I wanted to show a full lap around the track and the first lap I was behind an SUV for most of it.
This video was awesome.
Thank you! I really appreciate that.
Really want to know the real world hwy mpgs of the SPT transmission. Haven't been able to find a video as of yet.
Go take one for an "extended" test drive. 😆
Wow $30! You really have convinced me to look at Watkins Glen, even though it is 7 hours away from me :( Looks like fun. I race there so much on my Forza 7 racing simulator. Lots of people say the brakes are the weakest point of this WRX, did you find that to be true on the track?
Not OP but I have a 22 6MT premium and the car does feel heavy after a few stops on the stock setup...enough to where I would doubt it on the track myself.
pretty sure I'm not to far from you Williamsport area with a 22 premium world rally blue
Yeah man, just south of you. If you autox ever let me know where.
@@DStreetAuto will do man
That’s easy money for the track😂
I pay more to spend an 8 hour day at autocross and only drive for 6 mins. I know it's not the same thing either. I think it's worth it, and yeah the track must get something out of it since they keep doing it.
I get 24mpgs in city on every tank!
26.7
I’m getting 18 mpg☠️
But you're also getting to drive something fun, and I'm sure having fun while driving, right?!
Most of us are getting around that number when driving "normally". I just wanted to do a test of what it could get at it's best for highway mpg.
I’m getting around 17.8 MPG😢
Dude you can’t drive at all. 17mph Really!
I'm guessing you didn't pay attention to everything, and only saw what you wanted, so I'll help you out. In order to create enough space in between me and the car in front of me so I can accelerate and take turns quickly without running into someone, I need to slow down and wait for the pack of cars to get further ahead of me.
