    I’ve had my VB WRX for a little over a month now and I went to take out the carbon filter and my car didn’t come with one. I am from Australia and I feel like the American version of this car just got jipped big time. My car also come with a proper spare tyre and not a tyre repair kit as well

      What's up with that. That's one of my first mods to do is get an extra tire with it.

    I removed the charcoal filter and dropped in an AEM dry filter on my 2022. Woke it up quite a noticeable bit, seems to cut down turbo lag and ups the boost. I'm hitting 14.4psi max boost in mine with no other mods at 5,600 ft elevation.

    I literally just removed it me a d my girl noticed a difference definitely more responsive and kicks more when on throttle and shifting as of horsepower or boost increase cant really say yet but im sure its better than have that garbage on their more air is always better

    Did this to my old crosstreck xv got ride of it for a new wxr. What I'm hoping for is the slight up of fuel economy like was going for in the crosstreck. Went up to 32mpg in kansas running 78mph for a few years. But more power would be nicer.

    Man these comments are confusing me. I got the k&n drop in and removed my charcoal filter. Yes I do notice more pick up and definitely more engine noise. The only downside is after 500 miles or so my turbo started sputtering (can hear through bov noise) after I let off the gas. Not sure what is causing it any suggestions?!

    thx for the vid - I do find a new/clean filter is noticable in my 2018, though biggest difference is simply running a bit of octane boost. We only get 92 gas out here and it seems to prefer 94-95. I've got stock intake (with a new filter) but the STI catback. Love the info on the new 2022, kinda hoping they do a quick refresh for 2024 maybe - the car really isn't bad looking at all, just hoping they paint the trim...

    As others mentioned, I also cant locate anything indicating this mini filter delete mod or any reasonable / pro tune is blowing these engines . Unless of course the tune is really pushing limits, poorly designed & the driver is smashing it 24x7 like smokey & Bandit movies. Infact hearing the opposite comments stating the engine performs & responds well & wakes it up even with a mild tune. You can read forums about dudes F-ing up manual trans after doing a very strong tune. Im still bouncing back n forth on modding / tuning or not, due to the BS pushback concerning factory & extended warranty denials. I would definately do this mini filter delete since it has to do with emmissions .

    Hows the filter doing? I ended up ordering a grimspeed filter because I heard so many bad things about K&N

    • @DStreetAuto
      @DStreetAuto  Год назад +1

      I don't have any complaints so far. Only about 2k miles on it though. I went with K & N because it was easier to get at the time. I have the Cobb Accessport coming this week, I'll check the filter out when I'm messing with that.

      So I added the grimspeed filter, 2 weeks of having it now. My peak boost reset on its own and originally it was at 14.7, the most I hit now was 12.6, does anyone know if something is wrong or is this normal? I reset my boost gauge again, going to be doing more test.

      @@JohnDoe-tm1rvyour not making sense you can buy the upper part by itself for 40 bucks but I doubt you would have to replace as there’s a filter right in front of it /intake filter and this is not a race car you don’t need to change the engine after going hard on it lmao

    • @JohnDoe-tm1rv

      You need a tune after that. If you look at AFR (Air/Fuel rate) you will see that you running leaner after Charcoal Filter Delete. So yes it can give you up 15 horse power more, but only if you tune after modification.
      Without tune I would suggest do not remove it.

    K&Ns are not much better than no filter at all. Your car will knock after 30 to 40 thousand miles like happened with my 2017 wrx. K&N drop in filter was the only thing non stock that i ever did to it. I definitely will never make that mistake again.

    • @Rick4345
      @Rick4345 Год назад +6

      I must just be lucky. Always had K&N air filters on my cars. Both work and personal. My best story is my 2006 Chevrolet Impala that I turned in with 262,000 miles on it. I never had a mechanical issue attributed to the air filter. One alternator and that was it.

      The car would more likely to have cylinder wall, piston ring or valve problem before it knocks. Sounds like an oilling problem to the engine.

      What's your proof it was the filter? Was knock a spun bearing, did you do all oil changes on time, did you ever run low on oil, or try doing donuts.. etc etc.
