Even as a Shotokan practicioner, I love to watch these Kyokushin videos, especially those made by The Phoenix Way. There's a lot to learn in these videos, regardless of your style.
12:03 The knee from the side. That move saved me from being suddenly stabbed in London. Only my posture was straight up. The guy mistaken me with somebody else outside restaurant. Two of his ribbs got broken. He wanted to do it in some very close "prison style". Well,he went to prison. One of the best things Kyokushin can give you is sharp vigilance. Osu!
Big osu you speaking on grabbing hooking and throwing reminds me very much of the way we used to train with Kancho Jim Gillis. Oh how I miss this old way.
Great video great COACH! Spent so long on the basics. Better to have a few students wanting to learn this way. As opposed to moving away onto something else all too often. Don UK.
The trapping and foot sweeps are judo techniques, they were never Kyokushin techniques from 68 to 76 when I took it (shidan). In those days Oyama kept telling us one punch one kill. Not once did he ever say trap or sweep. I'm still thin, athletic, never been sick and I work out 3 hours a day at age 71.
My name John , from India , this msg for my 13 years old daughter request, she is yellow belt in kyokushin , an she is trying to join a class with your institute, kindly reply,
