I watched Klaus with my Sami girlfriend, and at one point in a scene with Márgu she started laughing. Apparently, at one point when Klaus is talking to her, she says "You know I don't understand what you're saying, right?" in Sami. It's perfect.
When she gets the sled, no matter how many times I watch it, all my hairs stand on end and I get really choked up, it's almost unfair how adorable she is!
The whole sequence from her heartfelt conversation with Jesper, writing the letter at Alva's, Jesper trying to build the sled, Jesper and Klaus traveling to deliver the present, and then Margu waking up to find the present melts my heart. And when she gleefully rides the sled and yells yoo-hoo, I always lose it.
It's rare for me to cry at any piece of media, much less cry happy tears, but the shot of her on the sled smiling as the music swells makes me tear up every time. So beautiful
It takes allot to make me feel something when it comes to films or media these days but this made me feel all kinds of happiness. Particularly a sad teary eyed form of happiness xD
You felt Margu’s joy from her expressions and body motion. It is the craft of animation at its height of prowess. Goosebumps show they did this film right!
I'm sámi, and I was so surprised and happy when I watched Klaus and saw actual sámi people speaking the language and wearing gákti. The only other time I've seen sámi people in movies was Frozen 2, but they were only inspired by the sámi
Your people certainly have an amazing and interesting culture the only people I can think of that are even remotely similar are the inuit native people of my home country of Canada and even then there are quite a few significant cultural differences
Oh yeah I’d heard the Northuldra were inspired by the Sámi before I watched it so I was rly confused abt the lack of color, since I saw Klaus and these vids first and knew that y’all have really bright reds and blues in your clothing. Did frozen 2 get that wrong or is it like a regional thing? Cos assuming it’s just a thing Disney decided to do it’s kinda sad for me as an artist to see the disappearance of such great colors that are literally right there in the referenced culture :( (If I’m wrong abt it just being a Disney thing I’m very sorry if I offended anyone-this is purely from an artistic standpoint and I’m not trying to speak on behalf of any culture I’m not part of) Complaining aside I’m glad Klaus introduced me to the existence of this culture, it’s really beautiful even tho I don’t know much abt it :))
The sweet tender voice of Neda gives a magical and overloaded cuteness to the Margu's character. My heart just melted when she said "hello postal man" .For me it is already the academy animated movie winner of this year
I'm glad they brought attention to her lead animator. I was able to understand a surprising amount of Margu's dialogue from body language alone, such a testament to the skill and hard work that went into her animations.
Same here. I teared up when she finally got her sleigh. The poor kid kept travelling all that way and kept getting ignored. Seeing her get what she wanted and being so cute really got me 😭
Absolutely incredible when a movie can get a message across without speaking everyone's language. I didn't understand Margu, but I didn't have to in order to understand what was going on. My drama teacher once said, "The best movies are the ones you can watch on mute, without subtitles, and still know what's happening." Well done, guys! One of the most spectacular kid's movies I've seen in years and probably the best Christmas movie I've seen ever!
The behind the scenes videos are so precious to me. Uploading them to youtube is perfect for me and you are doing all this editing and work so well. The passion and research for this movie is just amazing. Hope you never end doing 2D animated movies and videos like these. It really stands out!
One of the things that I love about Klaus is its thoughtful roots and background within Norwegian and Scandinavian culture, which makes sense with the mythos of Santa Claus since the legend also start of the Santa figure did came from northern Europe. Seriously am loving all the little research, passionate details that was put into this film. 😄
Yeah the entire movie is filled with a very Scandinavian charm and feel. I guess one very scandinavian way to put it, is that it's a very hyggelig movie.
Yes and no they did try to do it right but they left in a lot of stuff from other parts of the world the Christmas trees and leaving out things for them to eat is from Germany it’s from when we celebrated the winter solstice and lights to to invite good spirits to our home and banish dark ones and offerings to our version of Odin sense he was the original “Santa” for most of the northern tribes
@@marziobergagna4885 Of course they know what it means, and they used it correctly. You do realize that indigenous peoples exist in every single continent, not only in America, right?
The reason that makes me a little nervous is that today, when one uses the word "indigenous", it seems that it does so only to indicate non-whites or so-called minorities; as if whites had no right to claim their homeland. Now it is clear that this is found in the Sami, as they are of the white race no less than their Norman neighbors, therefore it seems foolish to me to assume that ONLY they are indigenous Europeans, and what are the others?
@@marziobergagna4885 Ooh, I see. I guess we see "indigenous" differently. "Indigenous" to me and to most indigenous peoples I interact with is more than just claiming one's original homeland (although that is VERY important too), but the specific way in which one group interacts with said land. So a myriad of things: a primal connection with Nature (which all human beings used to have, but most lost in the way), nomad/semi-nomad lifestyle, living in a close tribal-like community, a common history of forcebly assimilating and having to forsaken their own culture & identity, and even body paintings (found in America, Polynesi, Afrika and Asia - the Okinawans) can be associated with being Indigenous. So it's more than just the textbook definition, it's a life philosophy! :) We (I mean myself and the people I know) usually refer to as Indigenous peoples: the original peoples of América - Abya Yala, Turtle Island, Australia, New Zealand, Polynesia, specific hunter-gatherer ethnic groups of Afrika, aswell as the Inuit from Alaska and Canada, the Okinawans and the Ainu from Asia, and yes, the Sami from North Europe. Whenever there's a Global Indigenous Peoples Meeting of some form, you can usually see Sami people present - the only European natives. That means that Indigenous peoples worldwide have a connection to the Sami in a way they don't have to any other European groups - except maybe for the Romani people who, again, have a history of similar lifestyles and ideals, and the Druids of the ancient Celts, for obvious similarities.
I'm a kindergarten teacher in finland, and we have an adorable saame kid in my class. I wish I knew the language so that we could communicate properly. Hes the happiest lil sweetie I have ever met. ♡
I learned something very important in my years travelling abroad. Never ask a woman her age. Never ask a man how much he spent on his hobby. Never ask a sámi how many reindeer are in his or her herd.
Hello postomai, AWWWWWWW and the way she yells for Jesper when his intentions were given away was amazing, and the entire sequence from when Jesper vents to margu to her riding her slay saying woo-hoo melts my heart
I love when films director gets involved with the stuff they make a lot, to the point of travelling to other places and know their culture for a better result. Not to mention the talent Neda has. She added that cuteness to Margu with her voice. Is awesome!
Just when you think you can't be any more charmed by Klaus in general and Margu in particular, along come this video in general and Neda in particular to charm you all over again.
I watch Margu's scenes every single night just to be away from all the stress I had from work. I cannot thank The SPA Studios enough for bringing so much joy into my life with this character Margu.
OH MY GOODNESS!!! I LOVE ABSOLUTELY LOVE HER makes me cry every time I watch it I can't explain why until now she's so sweet cutest character I have ever seen in an animated movie and this has never happened to me before but something about this so sweetheart little girl makes me very emotional❤❤❤😘🤗
its awesome to see a director go this deep into learning about a people, Sergio clearly wanted to portray the Saami correctly. Major props to him for this.

Thank you SPA Studios for making a beautiful film that's worked it's way into my heart as well as my Christmas favs, and thank you for creating such a cute and wonderful character in Margu. She is a precious bundle of joy and you along with the animators and the lovely super-talented Neda should be very proud of her. 😊💖
Not Sámi, just a American dude. But love the film, simply because the inclusion of Sámi, Margu was my favorite character. I recognized her gakti and hat immediately.
Watching this film for the first time I got the feeling there was something utterly unique and magical about it but honestly it was when Margu showed up that I knew this was a film I wanted to show my kids and grandkids and keep for future generations to enjoy. This film is a timeless classic and I feel so blessed to have experienced it when it first released without any clue of what it was about before I watched it.
Es admirable todo lo que hace Sergio Pablos, de verdad, personas así que pese a todo perseveran y perseveran en crear cosas bellas hacen mucha falta en el mundo.
Everytime i see her. i always cry but i hide it most of the time. i hate the person who made her. she is the cutest character i have ever seen. matching the music. ohhhhh its super emotional with bursting happiness and tears.
If Sergio never went above and beyond to visit Tromsø, learn the Saami culture first hand and meet Neda to hire as the voice of Márgu, along with the VA´s of the adult saami, that element of the movie would in no way have been as magnificent as it ended up being.

This is the one moment in the film that could easily have gone wrong - in the wrong hands, the implication that the Saami people are the elves would become problematic, BUT - handled right, with nothing to broadly spelled out, it just feels like the kind of myth that could grow up out of a remote settlement town.

Nice to see Senor Serigo was dead set against misrepresenting the Saami people. It's cute seeing him interact with the wee lass.
I watched Klaus with my Sami girlfriend, and at one point in a scene with Márgu she started laughing. Apparently, at one point when Klaus is talking to her, she says "You know I don't understand what you're saying, right?" in Sami. It's perfect.

every frame of her smile gave this film magic
Literally! That's why we love Margu! Thanks!

To see Margu's voice come from an actual kid's mouth is so precious.
I cannot handle all the cuteness.
I love that they kept Saami language in the movie and Neda brought Margu to life with her voice.

You should watch ofelaš
