@@chordsoforion Thank you for demonstrating the capabilities of your ambient playing, such a delight to hear, and so much spaceee i can hear, music in between the notes...
I agree with Rocco I......that piece starting around 5:15 woke me up and gave me a shiver.....you are about the best Ambient guitarist that youtube has right now....keep up the brilliance Bill.
I got the MojoMojo a few months ago and really enjoy it - especially for the price! What's really fun is pairing it with a WA Mayflower sometimes. Things get really uniquely crunchy with it. As always, great video! :)
Great Demo. You must really like TC Electronics. Ya got a lot of their stuff. I soon plan to purchase the Hypergravity Compressor soon. Keep up the good work!
hey there, just a little idea about the mojomojo. i've been using it since one year by now. what i really dig about it is a huge versatility of sounds it allows you to create with the dynamics of your playing. that beeing said, i would like to share what i have learned about it by now. drive at about 9-12 o'clock and the volume at about 2-3 o'clock the rest is up to choice (i run it trough a JCM800 set to a clean). what this does for me is a greater range of sounds that you control with your fingers and volume pedal.
I was hoping to see what pickups that you have in that guitar but - never mind. I got flashbacks of Mannfred Mann and was really liking the tunes. Wonder how the Seymour D Saturday Night Specials would do 'ambient'... I gotta see!
What I'm looking for is a silky smooth distortion... one that goes well with lots of reverb and produces a warm tone, not gnarly/dirty. This might be a good option from the demo. Many thanks as always!
Well done. A good pedal to have for overdrive, and great price point, but I’ve never found it to be particularly inspiring, tonally. The last time I used it, I was going for very slight breakup when strumming full chords type of sound. It was able to do it, but volume had to be way up- not much cleanish headroom available to get fairly above unity volume levels and “play” the pedal with guitar volume knob. Still, for the money, it’s a decent if somewhat uninspiring product. I haven’t played the pedal in a few months. Probably time to come back to it with fresh ears to see if my opinions have changed or have stayed the same..
I spent many years playing in an old school prog-rock band. That's where many of the techniques I use came about. Of course, in a band situation, you have to be mindful of the other musicians and dial it back.
The MojoMojo WAS my favorite pedal until the switch started sticking. Apparently, this is a common problem on the Mojo and TC'S suggestion is to buy another one. Not gonna happen.... I loved the sound, but I can't trust them now.
Interesting. Have not had any issues with mine, however, I am not using it for live performances, so it is pretty lightly used. Thanks for sharing your experience!
I had the same problem with one I bought used but if you just spray the pedal stomp switch with quick dry contact cleaner for electronics and click it down and up a bunch of times and let it dry it should fix it up. It sucks because I didnt have the exact tool to open the bottom of the pedal. Its not just a screwdriver.
Thats horrible customer service most places will tell you to send it in and they can fix it for a charge. Ive had amazing experience with MXR, they've fixed pedals for free and sent them back.
I noticed one thing. In many modern pedal there is no place inside to put the 9 volt battery. Which one does have a space inside for the 9 volts battery?
It's true. Internal batteries are less common now. That being said, BOSS and Electro-Harmonix still sell pedals with internal batteries. Just be sure to check the manual before you buy.
Hi Bill...heard some of your songs...I'm just getting into Ambient music...In terms of Delays I've got the Strymon El Cap, the Boss DD500 and an MXR Carbon Copy analog Delay...In terms of Reverb I only have the Strymon Blue Sky and the Boss RV6...I think I'm okay with drives I have about 12 from the softest OD to Full on Distortion , but where I believe I'm lacking a bit of quality is in the Compressor department I only have an Xotic SP Compressor...do you think I should get another compressor something more tweakable maybe or will it do? Cheers, Mike.
I tried the Xotic SP before I got the Wampler Ego, and ended up sending it back because it did not work well with humbucker pickups. I like having variable attack and blend knobs on the Ego - definitely increases its flexibility.
I can't live without attack/sustain knobs and a blend on a compressor! Especially for ambient stuff. (My Dyna comp does the country thing fine, but nothing else.)
You should try the TC Hypergravity compressor I have it and I love it,it works great for guitars and basses, still haven't digged into the Toneprint editor but from what I know it's full packed of features to sculpt exactly the tone you need and beam it to your Toneprint slot. And it's very cheap price wise.
Still dreaming of a compressor? I love my Cali76 Compact Deluxe, which has a blend control and sounds very transparent. Use a low ratio and go easy on cutting off the attacks, and blend in the dry signal around 12:00 or a tad more. Has guts and sustain without the mid-rangey feel of many compressors aiming at electric guitarists.
Perhaps. I am waiting on Strymon to send me a pedal (can't say what it is right now), and have been saving my pennies to purchase at least one more pedal from them.
Great demo, Bill. I like the whole "does it ambient?" schtick! I picked up one of these a couple of months back, amazing pedal for the money. It'll never supplant my Shiba Drive as my main overdrive, but it's a great option. Using it in a different context than you of course - it's a great pedal for country and blues too! Also picked up some of your music on iTunes the other day, enjoying it so far :)
It sound like ocd from here. I It's OK. I can't understand the use of huge delay when you test the sound of a drive pedal. It is You can test it with many effects but tjis way you confuse than to inform someone. The use of volume also does not help much course it depends upon the pots resistors capacitors and any kind of pickups, but useful just for this very guitar. I thing the important thing is the type of distortion in a clean amp
It's interesting, I had never heard of ASMR until someone mentioned it in a comment a few months ago. I get the soothing voice thing, and of course, an ambient background, but I guess I don't have the switch flipped to enjoy tapping fingernails and such. :-)
Another amazing video by Ser Davos. Thank you.
Wish I had a GOT quote at the ready. Let's see (looking on Google): "If you're a famous smuggler, you're not doing it right". :-)
@@chordsoforion Thank you for demonstrating the capabilities of your ambient playing, such a delight to hear, and so much spaceee i can hear, music in between the notes...
it stacks extremely well with amps as well. I've gotten an amazing amount of tonal variety putting it in series with my g5.
I agree with Rocco I......that piece starting around 5:15 woke me up and gave me a shiver.....you are about the best Ambient guitarist that youtube has right now....keep up the brilliance Bill.
Thanks very much Neil!
That piece around 5.20 was killer! Great groove and melody!! Love your work man. Have a great day.
Thanks so much!
I wish I could be more like you Bill. An informative and enlightening video as always.
I got the MojoMojo a few months ago and really enjoy it - especially for the price! What's really fun is pairing it with a WA Mayflower sometimes. Things get really uniquely crunchy with it. As always, great video! :)
I've never used the Mayflower, but I hear a lot of good things about, and combining it with the MojoMojo sounds cool.
killer tone man. I love it.
I got this pedal about a month ago and I love it. Thick creamy overdrive.
Excellent!
The Gospel of Mark how does it sound when it’s pushing the crunch channel? Or does it only work well on a clean tone?
NICE!!!! I really dig the ambient stuff you're doing!
Thanks!
another awesome demo! I love that pedal, and I will be buying to beef my Novation Nova and my mc909, which sound sterile played alone.
I swear, your voice always sounds like asmr, throw in the ambient goodness and all I need is a sensory deprivation chamber.
That intro tune sounds to me like Blade Runner's theme
would love to see you do a fuzz video. I'm thinking about getting an EQD Cloven Hoof.
Gosh, there are so many fuzzes. Are you thinking a shootout, or more of a "how to"?
Wonderful pedal, very underrated
Your reviews are the absolute best man. Thanks
Thanks very much!!!
Great Demo. You must really like TC Electronics. Ya got a lot of their stuff. I soon plan to purchase the Hypergravity Compressor soon. Keep up the good work!
I have the Hypergravity compressor,I can highly recommend it.
This guy is like bob Ross on guitar.
you beat me to it :)
Indeed!
I like that pedal!! And I still love the flame on that Carvin.
Still love that top wood myself! :-)
Great playing sir
Is it my impression or the MojoMojo really has a lot of headroom, compared to other ODs?

I am sure the SD pups would do well! The ones in this guitar are the stock Carvin Holdsworth pickups.
What I'm looking for is a silky smooth distortion... one that goes well with lots of reverb and produces a warm tone, not gnarly/dirty. This might be a good option from the demo. Many thanks as always!
Could be. Also, the Strymon Riverside fills that requirement (if your budget allows it).
My budget doesn't allow much at the moment, sadly... I was able to get a loop pedal finally though so I can learn how to play melody!
Anyone know if this pedal can run 18v or 12v? I heard some of these tc pedals can run 12v
love your explanation -great
Thanks!

Brad Dietz have you played it since this comment?
In what sorts of working with a band, playing songs, situations can one employ the wonderful sounds that you create so masterfully?

Thats bad luck..it happens at any level.
Would this work on a fender rhodes piano to dirty up the timbre?
You should try a Jekyll and Hyde pedal with your set up. I'd love to get that pedal but still have that beautiful ambient sound
That would be a worthy experiment for sure!
Chords Of Orion fortunately they are available on Amazon for a limited time. usually they are difficult to find
you make every gear sound good... even a overdrive...

can you specify name of melody which you play beginning at 4.51? is that your melody recorded?
It was just something I improvised as I was shooting the video.
@@chordsoforion I guess you should record it and give it a name - its awesome - please do so
Any chance of a review of the Strymon Blue/Big Sky?
Perhaps. I am waiting on Strymon to send me a pedal (can't say what it is right now), and have been saving my pennies to purchase at least one more pedal from them.
Nice!
Can we use Mojo-mojo as a buffer pedal as well?
It's true bypass so I would guess no.

awesome pedal brouht one its an mazing pedal
Glad you are liking it!
I've been really happy with my rack mount Zoom effects processor, but watching your videos makes me want to get some pedals... I gotta stop! Lol
If you like the Zoom, stick with it, and ignore us pedal addicts! :-)
+Chords Of Orion Maybe I'll use both. Lol then I could utilize the two effects loops the processor has. Anyway, your videos are great, man!
is good tho play blue with a tele?
Yes, you could use the MojoMojo to play blues on a Telecaster.
niiiice one, chords of orion ! :)
Thanks!
The Mojo Mojo sounds neutral, to my ears.
Yeah, quite crunchy for a soft clipping pedal it seems. Perhaps it's not so much of a TS in disguise as you would be led to believe then.
This guys voice is like Valium
thanks Thom Yorke

The milquetoast of guitar tone.
I don't hear anything exceptional.are you sure it's not just in your head?
Not sure what you mean. I did not call the pedal exceptional in the video. I said it was single focused, but had some good sounds in it.
thats an uglyyy guitar xD

Funny, I've been describing this guy as the "Bob Ross" of guitar for ages.
