@user-ny2bxez1c. Hi, glad you enjoyed it. That was one of my first videos. Me and Joe had just gotten our planes and we’re having so much fun, I thought I’d try making a video. Joe sold his 3 and then recently bought it back. There’s also another 3 coming to our airport soon. I’m excited to do a dedicated video on just the RV3. With my new camera setup, I think I can get some great video of the two flying formation. Thanks for checking in.
@Rodrigo Orozco. Hi Rodrigo. Glad you liked it. That was one of my first videos. It was a nice little RV3. Joe sold it and got his Harmon Rocket. I still see it flying though, the guy that bought it is at our airport. There’s something magical about an airplane that has only one seat!!
@D.W. Burns. Yes, it’s always a blast chasing each other through the hills. Snow depth check sounds great. If the weather is decent this weekend, I’ll take a spin around the area and see what kind of video I can get. Thanks for the comment!
I had a very fast RV3 and a very fast Rocket. Rocket is faster with higher wing loading and smoother ride. It cant turn with the rv3 however. Both airplanes are unequaled in fun factor.
Awesome Lee. I know my buddy was planning on selling his 3 when he got a Rocket, but he just can’t bring himself to part with it. He does say the turbulence has a much bigger impact on his 3. Good to hear from you!
So many beautiful places to fly. I was just on my way to the airport to fly, but kept thinking of the look my dog gave me as I left. So, I came home, no flying today, going on hike with dogs.
I would say cool video but someday you’ll have to go to those hills see how many raptors and buzzards are transiting the same ridges you are, , this may not be a good show for some of our younger aviators to watch,, remember Steven Fawcett ?
Hi Gary. You’re right. Birds are a serious threat when flying low. Maybe I’ll do a video on risk analysis/ mitigation, how we deal with it. Just one of the ways is always flying 2 ship for mutual support. But I think you’re right- I should at least start mentioning the dangers. Thanks.
Hi Andrew. I’ve done a few videos now using the Insta 36o one X2. I like it when it works. The first one I sent back because the SD card stuck. Three weeks later I got a replacement, but sometimes it just stops recording. Their tech-support is extremely slow, and when they do respond they’re hard to communicate with. I think something gets lost when they translate Chinese to English. Otherwise, I like the way the Insta mounts, it has good image stabilization and a good stitch line. Whereas when I tested a go pro max, I didn’t think the stabilization was as good and the stitch line rendered my video unusable. I must admit I tested the camera on my boom, 4 1/2 feet in front of my wing on a very bumpy day. GoPro said I’d get better results if I downloaded their GoPro Player app instead of using their GoPro app. Although, to down load it, you’ll need something newer than my late 2015 iMac. I returned the GoPro and bought another Insta360. Haven’t used it yet, hope it works.
In discussion with my friend in the other plane. He still has another couple years at the airline before retiring. He heard a story about a pilot posting on RUclips and loosing his license for seven months. The concern is we may have been closer than the mandatory 500 feet passing the 4 wheelers. I took it down for a while while we discussed it. I think we’re just fine legally, so it’s back up now. We’ll do a few more videos, then revisit whether to keep the video up. Thanks for asking.
WHAT A BLAST !!!

We need a snow depth flight.

What type of 360° camera do you use?
