- Landing South is preferred due to noise. But when the winds pickup, you can tip toe in, landing North. #FlyingIdahoBackcountry #JohnsonCreek #AirplaneCamping #FunPlacesToFly #flying #IdahoBackCountry #Idaho #Cessna185 #Camping #FlyingBeast

Shoutout to the cameraman
😂
@L D bricks. I keep trying to talk my wife into being my camera person. No luck. I’ll have to stick with the little action cameras.
@@WheelsInTheSky lol
My Dad let me land his Piper Lance at Johnson Creek once... 'Pucker factor' = 10/10 ! Nailed the landing and those couple days were some of the best of my life 😊
Great Video 👍🏻
Yeah I’ll bet that was cool !! So many of those little airstrips, the pucker factor is pretty high, especially on the first landing. I’m heading back up to the Johnson Creek area on Monday.
Going to take a Husky this time. I’m so excited!!
What a location 👀😱
Yes, the whole area there is worth visiting and you can get in there in just about any plane. I’ll be going back next July.
He sounds like Bob Ross but with an airplane😂😂. Cool shot!!
@infidel14825. Lol. I keep hearing that. So I looked up Bob Ross- Now I want to try painting.
Just sitting here planning another trip up to Johnson Creek.
Amazing airplane. Looks soo good at this airport.
@The_Original. Thanks. What a great place! Can’t wait till next July. Hoping my boy will go with me again.
That’s what my dad flies
Nice!
Hi Drum. I thought I’d try experimenting with a few different “shorts”. It was fun posting them. That Johnson Creek is a summertime must!
Fabulous camera work and narration.
Is that my buddy Eric Garrett’s old 185?
I sure do miss him.
@gwyoung3509. Thanks. I bought it a couple years ago from a guy named Bill over at KFLY near Colorado Springs. He only had it for a year. Maybe he bought it from your friend???
Just got back from Johnson Creek with my Husky. It was awesome!! Probably going to take my wife and run up there again next month in the 185.
Lovely looking airstrip.
@watchfordpilot It’s amazing, world famous place. Like landing on a golf course, hot showers, WiFi, place to charge phones. It’s a must once a year!
After watching the video where the low wing plane slams into the top of a highwing plane, Im wondering why highwing planes don't purposely land long in these situations to stay out of a low wings blind spot. Too, if any pilot calls themselves to be on glideslope but the loss of an engine would put them short or in this case in the trees, you might want to change the term.
@ronaldluning4010. Yeah I agree. At these uncontrolled fields you’ve got to really keep and eye out. And listen and communicate on the radio. Most of the people follow the recommended arrival procedures, but not all. The only reason I posted that short, was because I see lots of people landing South at Johnson Creek with a strong tail wind. Some tailwind is ok, after all, south is uphill and it’s a long runway and nobody wants to overfly the White House on the other end, after all, they donated the runway. So, my point was, with 10-15 mph tail, land 35. It’s easy to swing out around the White House , and with your power back, they’ll never hear you. It was just my subtle two cents. You’re right, with a long runway, I like to land long, then if my engine quits, hopefully I’ll be on the numbers.
I’ll stop now, I don’t want to sound like an instructor. I’m actually getting old and forgetting most everything!! Thanks for checking in.
@@WheelsInTheSky have you watched the video of the accident I was refering to. both planes were aiming for the numbers, both unaware of each other until they hit. I think there was one survivor out of 4. presumably they were using their radios. I wasnt talking about johnsons creek specifically just landing in uncontrolled strips in general. its a simple remedy to a problem thats going to happen again and again.
@ronaldluning. I’ve heard of such accidents. But I don’t recall seeing the video.
Johnson Creek is public, right
@Brayien Sjostedt. Yes. No charge. Great place to camp. Showers and limited internet.
Are you the guy that goes the operation cost videos?!?
@michaelklepacz. Hi Michael, no that’s not me. Although, I’ve thought of doing something similar.
@@WheelsInTheSky y’all have a very similar voice. Great video too!
@michaelklepacz. Thanks Michael !
Tons of inequality in this world...
@Jaded. Hi Jaded. Not sure I understand, but I’m sure you’re right. I know my parents warned me “Life’s not fair”. But, they also taught me about delayed gratification and to work hard and save my money. Then, just maybe, when I’m an old man, I can reap my reward!
Of course you may also be referring to my inequality compared to someone with much more than me... Either way, if you feel I’ve been unjustly rewarded in my old age, I’d be happy to share my story you. Thanks for watching.
@@WheelsInTheSky outstanding response to Jaded.
@Jaded username checks out 😅
How does one get a selfie shot like this? I assume its one of the 360° devices.
@WheelsInTheSky there's always one sucking on sour grapes. Post your Husky video, please.
