- First video of my latest project airplane. I did not film the build, but it's done after almost 2 years. Major overhaul of many systems including paint, windows, interior, avionics. The goal was to save weight were possible. Here's one of our favorite places. About a mile long at 3000' msl. Hopefully many more memories to be made with this adventure machine both on amphibious floats, and in the backcountry on standard gear.

This is what I imagine heaven is like. Thank you for sharing this amazing video with the world. You deserve an award.
Thank you 🙏
Fun watching this.I worked at Cessna in late 1978 installing wings on the 206,207 and 210 aircraft. These were my favorites.
Off memory this is a June 1979 competition date. Not sure of the process but maybe you worked on mine…
Peak retirement activity😉...this is paradise. Although doing it even before retirement is even better!!
Wow this was better than meditation at the end of a busy day. I fantasized about a little campfire and a comfy tent set up on that sand bar, getting away from it all.

I was wondering about the airport. Looks familiar to me, can't place it though. I always love it when you post to your channel, I always know it's going to blow my mind. Thanks.
Thank you
Arlington.
I have a paracord lanyard on my Garmin Mini InReach emergency locator and wear it around my neck while flying over water and over inhospitable terrain. If injured during a crash and have to do a rapid egress from the aircraft you want that critically important device secured to you, not the aircraft. Look for the special emergency paracord that has fire-sustaining strands inside the braided cord, great fire starting material if you need it.
I’ve been severely injured in extremely inhospitable remote backcountry. Therefore I wear mine(among other items) on my belt when I’m out of civilization.
Butter
Captivating
Thank you
I’m an old bush pilot from northern Canada. Beavers, otters, B-18 and the like.
My memories are in black and white, your videos turn those memories into full colour.
Thank you.
Fantastic. I’m glad to hear it. I also fly turbine Otters and piston beavers for a commercial operation 👍
Beautiful! Your daughter looks like your mother!
Thank you 🙏
Great video Kirk
Thank you
Right on!😊Loved everything
awesome
What an amazing approach! Assume wind is why?
The approach allows for a go around. If you come in the other way your only option is to land. If the wind is favoring a landing towards the mountain then there’s also a lot of wind driving down onto the lake and not worth the risks. There’s been a few accidents there unfortunately
What do you do to be able to afford such fun airplane projects? Stunning plane and lake. Thank you
Decades of hard work. Starting with being a laborer, then swinging a hammer as a carpenter and pouring concrete. Then building homes and brokering real estate which I now have spent over 20 years doing. I’m also a commercial floatplane pilot and airline pilot. Also buying and fixing up multiple airplanes then selling them over the past 15 years. I traded for this project with a kit airplane I built myself. Then restored this one. Nothing but hard work and determination.
Is that the TSIO520M on Aerocet floats? What other mods? I only see VG's.
Yes on the engine. Stock airplane besides VG’s and propeller. We lost some weight with the original avionics replaced and vacuum system removed. The floats are Wipline 3730’s.
Did that right gear fully retract?
Absolutely. The tire sticks out the front amphibious floats
@@klpilotah that’s very interesting, I’m thinking about getting my float rating sometime in the future.
Nice video. Could you please post lake’s coordinates? I’d like to visit on my sim 😊
Thank you 47°52'13"N 121°35'11"W
Nice video, thanks for sharing. Where was this filmed? Looks very much like my own back yard.
Thank you. Lake Isabel North Cascades Washington State

Did you sell the cub?
Why are the wheels in the water?
That’s the retracted position. Watch the ramping video to see how they work 👍
What airport is that?
Arlington Municipal in Arlington, WA
I wonder if any fish will take after all that noise and wave making 🐸
Fish is fantastic on these lakes. They come any try and bite your toes
You know your 206…
Ok, but can I take a nap later?
What lake is this in Washington? EDIT: a little research and I found Lake Isabel.
It’s illegal to land in most mountain lakes
Not a small lake, though.
Depending on the DA and load plus the terrain/trees on the far end… and wind it can get pretty small.
I've had a nervous departure in a Super Cub and it wasn't even that bad of a day, just the wind coming up from the valley and rolling over the lip stopped our climb for a scary moment right before clearing the trees.
@Kirk LeDoux, Kirk, where is this lake, located, so I can fly it in MSFS 2020, Perhaps the longitude and latitude, please? Thanks, in advance.
