I was a 90s kid with a deep and abiding fascination with the 1960s. What an extraordinary era and what an utterly intriguing woman Marianne Faithful has been all her life! Her style is something I've been replicating for years! 💗💗💗
Marianne is sum of everything: beauty, inteligence, good gens, culture...and crazy sixties.. Mick was so lucky to meet her, becouse she was the true muse...And the best thing is how wise she is now, without regrets and lies or false excuses for her mistakes from the past.
Miss Marianne, Congratulations on your many years of sobriety. You are one of THE ROCK N ROLL LADIES THAT WENT THRU IT a& SURVIVED❤RIP ANITA PALLENBERG YOUR BESTIE “ 🙏🫶🥲🥲🥲🔮Hopefully, as I’m writing you are still well”. I’m proud of you Marianne! Setting a great example to others to stay away from hard substances & drink. 🔮plus Broken English? Top of The Pops! Played on repeat at every party I was at just after it was released here in Toronto Canada ( I’m 1/2 UK ) …yes I remember!,,
😇 Marianne Faithful has been my idol since her very first song. I wore my hair like her. I dressed like her even the shoes. I memorized all the songs on her first two albums. I had a large scrapbook filled with photographs of her. I am faithful forever to Marianne Faithful. 😎
I had forgotten about Marianne for quite a few years (I'm almost ashamed to say that I thought she had died) until recently I saw her in a film, and all my memories of her came flooding back. I was a big fan in the late 60s early 70s but like so many artist they come and go. I'm so glad that I was reintroduced to her. I never saw her as just a sex symbol, I always thought of her as a mythical muse. The best thing about being a heroin addict is being able to say that you used to see but now you're not, I won.
I met Marianne in 1968 when she and Mick Jagger visited Frank Zappa's log cabin in Laurel Canyon, Hollywood. They sat in the kitchen with Frank and his wife Gail. Mick and Marianne were like a double act - he spoke, she spoke, he spoke, she spoke. By contract, Gail never spoke. She sat mute, allowing Frank to hold centre stage. Such a contrast.
@@jamesb.9155 At what stage did you hang out with Ian. You hung out with Ian when he was still with Frank or later? Ian was there the night that Mick and Marianne sat in the kitchen, but he may not remember it. I do because I wrote about it in my diary and subsequently in my memoir, Freak Out! My Life with Frank Zappa. Ian also was at Mick Jagger's session at the studio when Mick was mixing Beggar's Opera. I write about that, too. I suppose he wouldn't mention it because it was not important to him.
Marianne is a Goddess amongst women and the true first real female Pop idol pimped on her looks whether if she had talent or not. Of course, it turned out that she very much did.
for her beauty? is that why she is a goddess to you? what is goddess about her..she is just a person...i SAW HER and listened to her talk..very regular honest about Mick and stuff...
Poetically enough, it ultimately absolutely did matter how Marianne Faithfull sounded. It mattered that she sounded very pure, young and British early on and that in itself made it matter that she sounded so rough and haggard after that.
Marianne’s album, “Broken English,” is an absolute masterpiece! A BRILLIANT work of art, ( yes, ART! ) that STILL sounds fresh and contemporary, even today! Also, check out one of her more recent releases, “Negative Capability.” P.S. Looking back, I still think she should have dumped Mick for Gene Pitney…….
lucky to have that unusual voice... HER ANGELIC beauty faded..now sopihsticated and honest woman..i SAW HER AT HER BOOK SIGNING the night the Stones were on as old cadaverous rockers...on tv and she was interesting and energetic.
I love this video! "As Tears Go By" (1965), sung by young Marianne Faithfull, has been my favourite song since the beginning of 2020. Unfortunately, I was born in 1974. Ich bin zu spät. Schade!
I was born in 67, always loved the song As tears go by, never knew much of the artist until recently and wow....what an amazing woman. I love the song more today than I ever did. Props Marianne well done to the very end.
I love the question posed to the music producer in the chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce - "Can you really make a star out of someone who has no talent?". Of course the correct question is : "As a person who has no talent or gifts to offer to the music industry, can you really make yourself rich by exploiting those who do?"

I was around then and I remember her very well. I too was stunned by her looks. There is similar phenomenon going on right now (2015-2023) with a young woman in a famous K-pop group called "Twice". Her name is Tzuyu and she's from Taiwan. She's VERY pretty and, seemingly very nice and kind. She sings nicely and dances very well in the kpop style. Do a youtube search or a Google search and you'll find endless material. She's the new unicorn.
Amazing! It's the truth - you didn't really exist (in the 70s) if you were a woman, even if you were wonderful Marianne who had a great brain. In some footage you can really see that ghost-like quality - so wonderful to survive that - me too I guess !
Kathleen Diaz Me too! I worshiped her. I dressed like her and wore my hair like her. I memorized all the songs on her first two albums. What a beautiful young woman she was in an angelic way. Today she is such a lovely strong woman with many great stories to tell.
The only decent woman Jagger ever had ...... the rest were all stuck up jet set fare..... eventually it showed in his music ,and hardly released anything of worth after 1980.
Oh really. One would think that women with actual jobs and career is better than someone who is only known for her three years relationships with the man, one decent album and heroine addiction.

I like your story. I have hung out a few times with a former member of Frank Zappa's group (Ian) and never heard any of this stuff!

"Pimped" is strong 'cuz if you listen to her, she knew what she was doing and liked the attention at first. She's not an idiot.
Broken English Was literally the most amazing album of that era.
Def my friends & I partied hard to that one! Good times!
HA HA "LITERALLY" how can you substantiate that? look the word up hon
through her ups and downs she has never let the buggers get her up or down, love you Marianne,👏👍🌈😘💖👌
I loved Come and stay with me in 65, but "Lucy Jordan is my favorite song if all time.
"it really didn't matter how she sounded" speaks volumes about 60s pop

One of my favorites!
“It didn’t matter how she sounded”
Fortunately for those who love her
she sounded like a purring angel and
looked like she might be Helen of Troy.
love her!
You can't blame her for being human. Love you Marianne, well done.
Beautiful, her whole life... Inside and out!

Marianne reminds me of Jim Morrison's lady friend Pamela Courson and they are both Capricorns; Both Mick and Jim fire signs though different.
Bonnie Magpie well noted,Pam was a delicate beauty as Marianne though Pam was from Cali.
Don't forget Joan Baez with Bob Dylan. She is Capricorn also.
I LIke how they blocked out "as tears go by" ??? its her first hit
timquinn66 blame The Stones camp for this.
@@ceejay1794 Stones don't own the publishing rights to their 60's catalog.
Marianne still a live
Where can I get that fanclub button?
She knows to live life !
I thought that 'Girl on a Motorcycle' was bad, but then I heard her sing.
PLEASE READ THE BOOK “ FAITHFULL”... it’s really a good story!
Good on ya Maryanne!

Beautiful but always thought she was without talent.Respect for managing to have a varied career.
Marianne's voice - a mixture of Edith Piaf and Maddy Prior?
A voice damaged by drinking and smoking 😅
The flats in Newbury for sale

whats going on with the sound dude???
Automatic copyright software removing The Stones ‘As Tears Go By etc.’ Annoying!

In 69 in England I always heard the Mars Bar story that when they were busted Mick Jagger was eating a Mars bar from her snatch

I thought Bianca was very beautiful as well as Chrissie
She was beautiful but she had bad common sense. There was no reason to become a heroin addict.
GRANDMA ROCK !
Yeh, she sold her soul like the rest at the Tavistock institute?
She is everything but a queen of british "pop" she's not.
