“Pathetic” that Conservatives are worried about “good economic news” for Canadians, Freeland says

- Speaking in Toronto on Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland responded to Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre’s call for opposition parties to vote non-confidence in the government when the House of Commons resumes next month.
“I think we need to really take these assertions by the Conservative leader with a healthy - a very healthy - grain of salt,” Freeland said. “The reality is, in recent weeks and months, we’ve had a steady stream of very good economic news for Canadians.”
“I think it's pretty pathetic that the good news, the good economic news that we are seeing for Canada and Canadians, the Conservatives feel is bad news for them. They can see that that good news is going to keep on coming. And I think they're a little bit worried about that. And maybe they should be,” Freeland said.
Earlier on Thursday, Poilievre sent a letter to NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, urging him to pull out of the party's confidence-and-supply agreement with the Liberals. "Singh sold out workers to sign onto this costly coalition," Poilievre said.

On one hand comparing my rent in 2015 and my pay has only gone up 10% and the rent is up 300%. The dental hasn't been implemented yet. Poliviere and Harper and the govs since 1981 have not done much around the world to put rising profits into wages for the lower earners. $20 in 2000 was bare minimum for a single. Couples and families varies with income expenses and benefits from governments. An overhaul similar to Iceland and more profits with a medium capitalist/socialist approach whereas monopolies aren't pocketing so much profit... INCLUDING banks!

i have been struggling financially for the last 3 years living in canada and my hopes of owning a home seems like a pipe dream. it is some refreshing to know that none of that is true and canada has actually been doing great economically for the last 18 months.........its like telling a starving person they are not hungry because we have data to show there is lots of food

I lived in an apartment in 2005 while working a full time job for $45,000 a year between my wife & I, who had just gotten married, things were finances were tight then. I'm not a conservative, nor am I a liberal, but minimum wage where I live is 8 dollars below a liveable wage. Min Wage - $15.75/h Liveable Wage - $23/h. Liveable wage calculated through cost of rent, groceries, utilities, and rainy day funds for automotive repairs, medical related travel, etc. This doesn't even take into account pleasure, like going on trips, going to the movies, going to concerts.
Canadians should get to choose if politicians go to Jail. That should stop the scandals, lying and corruption. Freeland for prison!

In 2016 fresh out of high school I was making $15 per hour. Adjusted for inflation that is about $18.56.
Today as a trade apprentice I am making about $20 per hour and yet all my living expenses have triple if not almost quadruple.
I will never own a house, I will probably never be able to afford to raise a family, I can barely afford rent, utilities and food and it is predominantly the fault of this government who has governed this nation for almost a decade.
