Note - 2:40 The correct Single target combo for the Mk IV Claw Sword is H > WS (R). You do not need to block cancel to reset the attack animation Also failed to mention two important combos, both for single target: Crusher - PA > H which has incredibly high headshot damage on its push attack Mk VII Claw Sword - PA > L for also incredibly high headshot damage on both the push attack and light attack TERM LEXICON L - Light Attack H - Heavy Attack PA - Push Attack BC - Block Cancel WS - Weapon Special (R) - Repeat this pattern
crusher single target definitely should note PA > H because of the insane finesse multiplier on PA, also a lot faster and responsive than WS > H spam for deimos Forcesword single target "should be" L > H to access the big stab (can charge and whiff the light if need be), but its currently broken and staggering everything to high hell and making it annoying to followup otherwise good video I'm glad you made this
Yep. Also heavy > light (R) and heavy BC (R) are often faster at killing single targets than spamming heavy special. I also personally prefer light > heavy BC (R) for horde clear for the better light attack trajectory.
I believe getting the stab to have the special by whiffing the light isn’t necessary bc the damage profile for special empowered heavies should be the same for both Edit for clarity, im referring to the Deimos. Usually stab heavy does more damage but the overhead heavy 1 in my testing does the same dmg empowered as an empowered heavy 2
This is an INCREDIBLY good video. You need to be making these for like advanced physics courses. You're accurate, to the point, but with enough of a human touch to make it keep you listening and understanding. You're a great narrator. I mean, your obviously robot-voice-modulator is a great narrator. (no sarcasm, none at all)
Not sure about the Slab Shield combos. At least not with my build and shield on Damnation. I find Light>Heavy loop to be more useful against crowds due to CC and area coverage it provides. Easier to manage toughness when there are enemies all around you, as you spend less time charging up heavies and when you do use heavies they cover a wide arc in front of you. Heavy>Cancel works good against very tightly packed groups of enemies though. I'm not a fan of the single target combo with Heavy>Push Attack. I only found it useful in 1 case - opening up Bulwarks. All other units can be taken out faster and more reliably by spamming Heavy>Cancel. Flak Ragers can be taken quickly out by Heavy>Cancel>Heavy>Push Attack. Maybe it would feel better if bleed stacking didn't get nerfed, as now you need at least 2 consecutive heavies to really get the bleed damage going. Then again, I might be missing some hidden math, both in theory and in practice.
You are right. Light into heavy is so much better vs hordes. I mean even light attack spam is better vs hordes then h1 spam. Only vs mixed hordes it seeems to be a good Option. The singel target combo seems fine. Using it too and it feels faster and the PA is very strong. You can just oneshot shooters without windig up a heavy attack animation. And it feels better to play.
@@Raulikien maybe it works well when you need to delete a "controlled" horde, not so well when there are enemies around you. Its not as quick as the light attack and has more of a frontal cone than a sweeping one. Heavy cancel is good and it deals a lot of damage but its not as good in terms of CC and horde management when enemies come from more than 1 direction.
I don't know if it's possible to update with the new weapons, the new Cadia Mk xiiig has some neat combos - I think PA > L > L (R) for general horde clear to get the sweep push into Vanguards, PA > L > H (Heavy Vanguard) for mixed, and WS -> H for single target damage :D This is so helpful to get people thinking about the effective way to use your weapons
thank you for releasing this video. i thought single target and horde combos were obvious. every now and again i die and spectate my team and like 90% of the time no one knows this. THANK YOU.
I dont know who did the eviscerator combos but I would like to change a few things; Extended horde combo: H,L,L,PA repeat with PA when needed, open with reved H cause unlike other chain weapons the H sweep cleaves with rev (also good for combing out elites and specials in hordes) Kill that guy now: L,H repeat until dead
Great video! Def learned a lot about attack patterns. I always noticed slight differences in my attacks based on how I attacked but never realized how they could be used. One thing I would like to see maybe though is for each class, cover which you believe would be the best weapon for a given situation.
Good vid. Additionally, I'd mark down crusher heavy into light overheads and the deimos sword's light into heavy thrust for obscene single target damage.
For the Assault Chainsword, spamming H works fine but a more effective combo would be H>H>L and then H>H>H>L(R). That last light attack is almost 100% horizontal and goes out very fast wich helps with very intense hordes. Using this I've never had to block once with my Vet. Great video!
Yeah if you're not using the attack speed talent points for the vet that gives 15% attack speed then this is the best otherwise you'll get hit if you just heavy spam.
I would note, that when you do a charged heavy with the power swords followed by a light attack, the light attack happens much faster than usual. Very useful for the new sloooow veteran swings.
Here's another combo for the combat knife that I always use. You can punch an enemy (alt-fire) and then cancel it into a light attack. The punch is cancellable almost instantly after pressing the button, and the light attack follow up is different than the normal light attack. It also hits like a truck.
Not sure about spamming alt attacks for any of the heavy swords for single target/armoured enemies, much more effective on all marks to do as with the mark IX and use alt+heavy because the heavies come out much faster and your DPS will be much higher than spamming the alt attacks that don't chain at all
I was told, the best single target dmg with the Combat Knife is supposed to be H > WS > L (R) to stack buffs, while the L behaves like a H. Never tested, if that was the best way though. Did you test that combo or do think its not worth the hassle?
Looking forward to it. Just tested it again and it might even be just H > WS > L > WS > L or something like that. Most stuff will be dead after one or two rotations, especially since there will be lots of crits and buffs coming super quickly@@jtcLIVE
for the MK 2 tigrus for zealot u can do 1 hevy 3 ligth then block atack, all horizontal atacks so if u aim at head level while dashind left n rigth whiile also moving the camera u can rip throw horde easy
on the brunt's pride for single target the slap and punch sets up the 2nd heavy attack. very useful for staggering anything except mutants i think (the punch has a bonus stagger+dmg against maniacs iirc) then one tapping them, adding thrust for greater effect. all clubs with haymaker should prioritize the sweeping heavy for horde clear as well. great video, i'll be saving this for future reference
For the MK9 heavy sword I definitely find even with just Dreg Bruisers mixed in (with their armored heads) you definitely want to do the Light > Heavy repeat and not light spam. Light > heavy even feels better on poxwalkers when you've moving at all (and thus gaining some free charge time)
Great video, thank you. Would you consider turning it into a Steam Guide with headers for each weapon? Optionally with video clips showing the combos (much more work). This would be very helpful for accessing this information in-game.
I've never made a steam guide before, not sure how they work/how to format them, I probably wouldn't do it on my own but if someone else wanted to make one, I would help since I could easily clip out or edit specific parts from this video.
Mh, I always felt that for the Illisi Force Sword the best horde clear option was WS>H>L (R) if you have bloodthirsty on your weapon, since the H triggers your bloodthirsty, and the light attack then crits
Algorithm bumb. Comment. Huge thumbs up for the video. Nice voice for the comentary and superb editing. Love lil edit sound bites, makes the video feel like a real labor of love.
Thank you! I was responsible for most of the editing on this video and I definitely tried to cram as much love into it as I could! I have some pretty good inspirations to pull from
Completely got the crusher wrong. It's horde clear is push attack -> heavy attack. It's single target is push attack -> light -> light. The push attack on the crusher hits harder with weakpoints than the first heavy does, it does so much damage, speed, cleave and knockback you will be pushing carapace around like nothing. Don't bother with the special power up, it's a debuff to your dps.
Hard disagree on the Shield hoard clear, that heavy sweep attack with the bleed perk makes mince meat of lightly armored hoard's and armorless ones alike, with the nice benefit of knocking down anything you didn't immediately kill for the bleed to finish off Chained heavies. The only notable exceptions being Maulers and Crushers, whom you can still knock down with the sweep, but you need to hit the headshot on either of your attacks in the chain, and will stop the attack, so aim wide.
8:58 what the hell? Dude the ironhelm rev heavy attack MELTS hordes, mixed hordes and will pick off specials in the middle, it is like the most satisfying thing in the game
rev heavy? Do you mean charging the weapon? As someone who mains the ironhelm, while I agree charging the weapon for a heavy attack against hordes is effective, I wouldn't call it the best option. It leaves you vulnerable for nearly a full second between activating the weapon and charging up the heavy attack. While activating the weapon does allow you to reach some significant breakpoints, the heavy-heavy-light combo is only mildly less DPS but is MUCH safer as it leaves you vulnerable for a lot less time and staggers the enemies more even if you dont kill some enemies outright. I activate the weapon when I'm approaching a horde for free DPS, or any time that I have a second to breathe, but I do not spam it, as doing so requires you to dodge and disengage from fighting the horde for that second you are 'charging up' the weapon, which puts that pressure on your team to hold the line.
@@Dizerel Nah not reall that big an issue to do it, i just walk to a side and dodge to the other to do the charged-heavy attack, so far as auric damnation it works alright. Even if you are located in the middle of a horde, as long as you have the ironbreaker passive (forgot the name, the one where you push back everyone around when you get hit)
@@Hunlor- I still think you sacrifice other things for the extra damage. Not that you don't get value out of charging the weapon. But the more consistent stagger can be just as worth the extra damage. I also run that blessing that gives toughness back on hitting 3+ enemies in a swing, so there is that too. I'm not saying that charged heavies aren't good, I'm saying that for general all-purpose use for casual players, the heavy-heavy-light combo will get them a similar amount of mileage.
Deimos sword is not right. Push attack is single target knock down only for elites, just spam lights with some pushes for horde. For single target light -> heavy is 2 stabs and then keep doing light heavy to spam the heavy thrust which has insane damage, it's GG with uncanny strike blessing. Also with illisi, light attacks are safer for horde unless it's mixed or you need the toughness regen from warp kill, and again, push attack very useful to knock down even crushers. For ogryn clubs, if you have the haymaker blessing you never need to light attack again.

@dizerelj5678 sort of. Like give a little description of them. Like the knife you could say its quick and has a high crit rate and is best used to aim for weakspot damage
While informative, I hate that this is the correct way to play the game. This is so needlessly complicated that you need to abuse the game engine to make it cancel animations for combos, and the right way to attack quickly is actually to throw up a block for some weapons. Especially when you have to mix in heavy attacks, which have no way of knowing if you've held the button down long enough, combos are needlessly complex for what should be a simple game. Think I'll stick to left click for horde clear, right click for armor.
Personally, I think it adds a layer of depth to the game! I can understand the frustration that the best combos can be needlessly complicated at times, but imagine the inverse, where all you ever do is spam lights for horde, or heavies for armor.
