- Today I finally get around to the Namielle theme from Monster Hunter World Iceborne. This is such an unusual one. I feel like I'm even more puzzled by it now than I was before the video.

With a lot of battle themes, I get the sense that the orchestra is surrounding the arena and blasting music directly into it.
With Namielle's theme, I feel the music swimming around the arena, just pointing one eye towards the fight as it does its languid dance. It's a strangely _passive_ battle theme that feels about as slippery as Namielle itself.

FINALLY somebody takes a good listen to this theme.
Namielle is my favorite monster, and the theme is a big part of it.
On the note of the gentler sounding bits, this gives me the mental picture of being stuck on a raft, lost at sea, with something lurking in the waters surrounding you.
The gentle tones for the sea, and the menacing undertone for Namielle.
gahhh finally someone who shares the sentiment, Namielle is SUCH a cool monster with one of my favourite themes. if it doesn't make a return in Wilds i will be so disappointed
Gods I love Morning Star of the Dark Tide, and Namielle. One of my favourite elder dragons and monsters of all time. It's a response to Vaal Hazak's "call" as both are based around deep ocean creatures. It's very relaxed in comparison to Vaal Hazak's more high strung music, and the themes suit each monster exactly for me.

Namielle's theme and design all evoke the fear/uncertainty of the Deep Sea and the creatures in there.
There is a bit of chaotic melodies that symbolize the disoriantation from her waves, the deep meldies give the dread of being drowned by her.
The more gentle parts are the wonder of her in the Coral Highlands, seemingly somewhere, where she shouldn't be.
All in all it is more so a mix of the wonder and fear of the ocean and then a lot of marine animals mixed into a flying water spitting dragon.
Man this theme is a bop, especially the mount theme
4:02 I've always interpreted those swing/tango-like notes as if you're partaking in Namielles dance. She glides and flies so elegantly and effortlessly like she's dancing. It reminds me a lot of ballroom moves I've seen in tango and foxtrot 😮

Thanks for taking a look at Namielle’s theme Davi! Ever since it came out there’s been something about it I couldn’t quite put my finger on. I noticed those swampy synths too - what a weird texture.

I was going to say the same. There's a theory about a link between Namielle and Vaal Hazak given how they're both related to "abyss" and "darkness" and this seems to be apparent in their themes being suspectingly similar

Namielle's theme always struck me as the oddest one out of the World elder dragons. I'm quite fond of it, but it's definitely unusual.
Im so happy my beloved namielle had their theme covered. I was always interested behind some choices in the theme for such an abyssal looking creature. Thanks fo clearing it up for me! I love this theme and love this video!
Namielle reminds me of deep sea life. Even the way you are introduced to it is unsettling and mysterious. I think this theme captures the mysterious and nautical nature of Namielle.
Finally! Great video as always! I get mystery drama music vibes from this theme. Suspenseful and gorgeous.
Now that I think about it, I think the "Relaxing" and "Confidence" feels might come from Namielle proficiency in Water Control. You (hunters) basically fight it inside of its (water) domain, you can consider yourself "drowning" while simultaneously try to hunt down the "rain/water" itself.
Also, nice breakdown video. Other have suggested that this theme might even be related to the Vaal Hazak theme, maybe it's hinting the relations between the Elder Dragons found only on the New World.

For future Monster Hunter World soundtracks, i've found that the channel MrMH has high quality rips. A lot of the other ones have weird volume and get crackly at loud parts, but the ones over there are impeccable.
That synth-y note under the melody sort of sounds like the chittering, squelching noise she makes when she charges up an attack, like generating electricity.
Namielle is probably my favorite Elder Dragon in Iceborne. She's such a well designed monster from both a visual and mechanical standpoint. Embracing that eldritch deep sea aesthetic, and also using water and electricity in an intelligent manner. But she also kind of feels like the most "chill" of the elder dragons. Even the way she fights sometimes has the vibe of "-sigh- I guess..."
Hunter: "what is that?"

You mentioned it near the end, but you can hear the deep grungy synth first at 5:19 but it's super faint. For a better listen, you can hear it when you use a Hunting Horn recital with Iron Drum and Namielle parts!
I guess there is nothing more fitting for a inspired by deep water creatures elder dragon than a theme that is both calm like the sea and underlined with horror in its depth like the bottom of the ocean. God I love MH soundtracks so much.

It's weird, I remember earing more things like the weird synth everywhere more clearly.
As I was writting it, I went and listened again and YUP, there's more to it. I listened to the mix "That Chimichanga" made on RUclips and you hear the weird synth and some other weird added noises everywhere. I think I recognized an axatse at one point (I'm not sure, but it sound like it)
Cant wait for you to check out Vaal Hazak theme, realy greatly represents somethink that can be at once disturbing and beautiful at once ^^

great theme, but Namielle was the best monster to fight with no music because the sound design of this elder dragon is so good. The weird vocal sounds it makes, the sound of water on its hide. Theres so many details covered by the music

Jeje, I can hear the synth! Nice. Yeah, the track feels like a movie, so cool and interesting. Btw, this week I have played two amazing games, pure art both. They are short linear platformers, Gris and Neva, amazing games. And Hades II got an update! I recommend again Song of the Sirens, I love that track, and the tracks of the new update are very cool as well. That's it. ¡Adiós!

It's kind of an odd case for me. Namielle is a top ten, if not top 5 beastie, in my opinion. Her theme is a bit nostalgic for me as well; it strikes me like something I would have heard from Star Fox: Assault, one of the first games that was explicitly my own.
For some reason, however, I never quite gelled with the theme, I don't dislike it, but I'm not exceptionally fond of it either. I can't quite put my finger on it.

If yes, I think you can hear them in the first half of the theme too.

Namielle has been my favorite monster ever since I first saw it, it was a difficult thing to dethrone valstrax but it happened. The theme has always been fascinating to me and loved hearing your insights!

Personally not one of my favorite tracks in the game. It's kinda eh. And I think explaining it as "calm" is why. It doesn't have the energy I come to expect out of a battle theme in MH. Even some other themes that don't do that still invoke a feeling very strongly like creepiness where this is just kinda calm
I'm glad I'm not alone. I don't dislike the piece by any means. It just... Doesn't do anything for me.
I like it for that. It's slippery and smooth, like Namielle. It's got a groove to it with the hi-hat.
@Mega_Croissantamence it doesn't even really have a climax. it just kinda repeats that melody a few times and then loops. It really doesn't do much for me. One of MH's few misses for me
This is how I feel about Vaal Hazak's theme. It's so close to being what I want, and I really like it for what it is, but my god it does not convey the dread and menace that I would expect looking at the monster.
