    Color consultant here and also have worked in the paint industry. Extra White is just the base to make light colors. Those bases are formulated to work with the pigments added to make that particular color. By not adding ANY pigment, you will find that extra white doesn’t cover well and you have to use several coats. I just use SW 7005 Pure White, it only has a hint of pigment to soften the white without it turning yellow (ick) and it still covers well. Working as a designer and professional painter, it has really helped me inform my clients what product will give the best results for their projects. Never quit a job you love ❤️

    Wool Skein & Distance-the walls being Wool S. too, enlarging the feeling of the room. Of course a different sheen. Have the door centers cut out and replaced with glass in some of them to also open things up. Lighting is very important. The glass inserts also keep any wood grain [usually oak cabinets are repainted, and that grain is gone in the door center-really giving the finished kitchen a better feel. Glass is timeless, too.

The only houses that stick in my mind are those with colour, almost any colour, because at least I would feel comfortable while I decide what I might like instead. Unlike the greys. Do certain colors/color combinations work better in larger spaces as opposed to smaller spaces and vice versa? I just bought my first home and the previous owners painted the very small kitchen a brown color. I've always wanted two tone cabinets (dark base and white uppers perhaps in iron ore and extra white), but I'm afraid that the dark cabinets won't look right in the tight space.

      My own personal opinion is there are a couple of things for you to take into consideration for your kitchen. One is the natural light that your kitchen has and the other are your what I call hard surfaces such as your countertop and flooring (unless of course you plan on replacing both). There is a great company called Samplize where you can order a full range of Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams paint colors that are 12" x "12 peel and stick paint samples. I've ordered many sample from them. You could affix the samples to your kitchen cabinets and kind of live with it for a while and see what you think before you commit to any definite color. On a side note, when I was trying out the peel and stick paint samples, I didn't actually remove the backing and stick it to the wall. I simply used some painters tape to affix the sample to the wall. That way I can keep the samples intact and if I ever sell and buy another home I will still have all of these peel and stick paint samples that I've collected. Just a suggestion. Good luck with your project.

      My last kitchen was tiny, but it had a window and it opened up to the rest of the place that had more windows and 24ft ceilings.
      I wanted a purple kitchen, and we figured it would be easy to change if we didn't like it (again, small lol). It was gorgeous. I picked Luxe - AF 580. Because of the windows, the color shifted from purple to blue to gray.
      We initially just repainted the cabinets (they were mint green) in a gray that showed as white in our lighting. Didn't see the gray AT ALL, lol.
      When we renovated, we used the black- brown ikea doors with slight woodgrain on the bottom. I thought they looked nicer than the other options at our very low price point. But I thought it would be too dark to have them everywhere. So I did white slab cabinets on the uppers. Changed everything to stainless and brushed nickel and it was great. It didn't feel small at all, even with the darkish paint on the wall :)

    Oh good laaawwd, I can't pick a color to paint our lake house cabinets to save my life. I thought maybe Iron Ore, but then it doesn't get a lot of light...so probably too dark and maybe does say lake house. Then I went to Sea Salt, which I think may be too green as the furniture is blue. I moved on to Tradewind... bluer, but maybe too light. I need to choose ASAP as the cabinets are prime and ready to be painted. I am really open to any color, and I like navy, but two of my neighbors just did navy, and I think the color is beautiful...but too dark for the space. HELP!!!

      I've painted cabinets in a few homes and always start by considering the color of the appliances (if you don't want to replace them). White appliances look good with white cabinets and a dark countertop. Tell the paint store you're looking for an "appliance white" match. Black appliances look great with black cabinets. It makes a small space less choppy looking. With stainless steel you have other options, like sage green or navy blue, both very popular right now. Also, you will have to get new hardware. Amazon has a great selection and reasonably priced.

    • @laurabfromvt6197
      @laurabfromvt6197 Год назад +1
