Saturation is distortion. It is an effect that mixing engineers use to add warmth and enhanced harmonic content to a tracked signal. The Session DIs analog saturation doesn't have to cause break up, but when pushed you may notice some grit. It is very hard to show what this product is actually doing with a direct recording. It was set pretty high when Charlie first plays the effect. It is much easier to understand after playing it through a PA and both hearing and feeling what the effects are doing.

Ron Rivet I also play a Taylor and just got the session DI. What have you found to be the optimal settings for saturation and compression?

@@michaelmessier429 after watching the video, play around with it for a while and see where you like it set. I can't remember where i have mine set right now but it sure does help the sound. Enjoy Michael. Have fun!

I am a tenor guitar player mostly playing customs. I've a LR Baggs Venue DI that's absolutely fabulous. I use it for tenor guitar, tenor banjo, baritone uke, tenor uke, and fiddle. Its amazing versatile that way. Want the Session DI, believe it or not, for harmonica. You wouldn't believe the usefulness the Session has for blues harp. Will be ordering the Session DI next week from Sweetwater's own, Tim Burgess. Cant wait.

Interesting but is it like a distortion pedal for an acoustic guitar ? Do you want a distorted acoustic guitar sound. Maybe sometimes. Not sure.

If used with LR Baggs Align Series pedals, should I put the Session DI before or after the other pedals?

So the yellow zone of the VU meter drives the compression and distortion...meaning that if you want to control the effect with your dynamics you can manipulate the gain setting to only get the distortion when you really want it? Or does it kick in in the green too?

Is this DI session will enhance the sound LR B lyric?

I get the saturation and the compression but what about playing in open tunings like 'C" What happens to the low end. BTW all my acoustic guitars have an I mix (thinking about the replacing it with the anthem) and I got the para for years. Still great . Venue DI not so good. I get what this pedals does but still on the fence.

Hello LR Baggs crew! Can I just ask what Capo Charlie is using here please? Thanks!
Also I would love to see a video of all your DI's focusing on differences, who each model is for etc.
Again thanks and keep these great products coming!

Hi, is the sound in the intro also created by the Session DI?

  • @MurdaMetz

It’s so subtle from being on and playing with it off from watching the video . Not trying to rain on anyones parade but for 249$ it don’t sound enough better or worse to justify the cost imo .

What is that capo he is using?

Was he really using the Anthem? It looks like an M80 in there.

    • @lrbaggsmedia

RiffPower2112 He was using an Anthem SL that we installed into his guitar on the day of the shoot. He has both pickups in the same guitar. The M80 runs through a pedal board and into two Morgan Amps. The Anthem SL is for the DI acoustic signal. This video only has the DI feed.

Man That sounds Killer, he says at the end of the video and he wasn't kidding. Why would anyone want distortion on a acoustic, have these guys gone MAD, have drugs been taken lol I love my LR Baggs SL in my Taylor GS8 BUT if I want distortion I get my TELE out and turn everything to 11. Please someone tell me what's going on here, the sound man is laughing, is this a JOKE LOL
