    What a great way to remember TSH levels in both thyroid disorders. Thank you Sir!

    Your TSH levels are like your boss. You want a healthy level of communication. Just enough so things go smoothly. If theyre flooding your phone with messages, then you should be worried.

      My 4.8
      Is that normal

    • @creativeconcept119
      @creativeconcept119 4 года назад +5

      @@manjeet399 4.8 is pretty good. Anything above that, it's normally best to keep an eye on. Also, different bodies have different normals.
      In some occasions it may be best after talking with your doctor to see if symptoms improve with a low dose of Levothyroxine. In most cases of elevated thyroid readings, doctors prefer to leave it alone because of a study that says most thyroid levels that read slightly elevated lower in most cases without medical interference. So multiple tests long term is going to be more accurate than otherwise.
      When it's above a 12, that's when you can be diagnosed with hypothyroidism, but by then you may be already suffering from debilitating symptoms. If long term your thyroid level reads higher than a 4 and you experience symptoms of thyroid dysfunction, try asking about taking thyroid medication.
      But 4 is good, some doctors prefer 2, but it's your body, and hypothyrodism in most cases is a lifelong disorder requiring treatment til end of life. During stressful periods you might see your thyroid go up, and it can trigger an autoimmune disease in certain susceptible individuals.
      It's often good to rule it out, but Hashimotoes goes hand in hand with hypothyrodism. If you have other autoimmune diseases your likelihood of having this goes up. So.if your family has thyroid problems or you want to rule it out I recommend self advocating for a blood test to check for it.
      Hope this helps, you didn't put the unit so I assumed it's a standard t4 reading. Remember you cannot fully rule out hypothyrodism without a t4 and it's t3 reading.

    My sister who has been taking levothyroxine for years just learned that there is an inverse relationship between the pituitary gland and the thyroid gland. When the TSH is high medication is need to lower the production of TSH. I was shocked that she did not know that. It makes me wonder how may other people who take thyroid meds. do not know how it works.

      I just got checked and my doctor explained this to me. I went in for a in January for a extended and missing period problem.
      And I had been regular 28 day cycle since I was 11. I'm 30 now. And just last week I went in for a breast mass. And after checking my mass and its moveable she checked my brain. And determined it wasn't dangerous. But she did mention this very thing that could be affecting me. Interesting to see someone else mention it. How long before your sister saw results on that med? Thanks.

    • @JoshuaHancock-zk2tx
      @JoshuaHancock-zk2tx 3 месяца назад

      The inverse relation isn’t an absolute. TSH stimulates the thyroid, so just as much as low levels can mean you have extreme hyperthyroidism, they can also mean extreme hypothyroidism. In my case, I’ve had levels of 0.048mUI/L and take 125mcg levothyroxine so low TSH and hypothyroidism.

      Antara,my TSH level is 0.01,so I have Hyperthyrodism.You have to see a doctor,who may refer you to an endocrinologist.It can take some time to get things level again,but try not to worry,the condition is not uncommon.I am almost sure my condition has been caused by another medication I am on(lithium).Another blood test tomorrow.Take care.
